Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 129

Hector POV

My hands go to her waist instinctively, preventing her from falling in case her legs threaten to give way. But they don't, she's stronger than I give her credit for. already knew that, I don't know why I am so surprised. "She told you?" Her eyes widen, stunned by my admission.

"I'm sorry Kaia..."

"I don't want your pity." She continues to growl out at me, her body trying to move out from my grasp but not putting a lot of effort into it.

"I'm not, I'm sorry what that bastard did.."

"Youv'e seen him? You've seen your brother?"

"You know?" Now it was my turn to have the stunned look. In her being reunited with Alora, of course she would know things now. Alora would have told her about her past, about me.NôvelDrama.Org content.

"I know a lot now Hector, lies...your lies wont work here..."

"I didn't...okay fine.." I stop when she gives me that look, that look that reminds me of how my own mother used to look at me as a child when I was caught doing something I shouldn't be doing. 1 "I was wrong Kaia...I did wrong by you but believe me when I say I want to make up for it, let me make up for it. Do they know?"

"Father and Alora?"

"Yes."

"Alora knows I was pregnant, but I didn't tell Father. And no, I couldn't bear to tell her. I don't think she would be strong enough for that." Her head goes down, her shoulders slump slightly. "She should know."

"Why, so she can reject him and take you instead..."

"Because she needs to know you are hurting." My thumb touches her chin and lifts her face up, her glowing us looking directly into mine. For a moment I get lost looking at the blue-rims around her pupils until she pats my hand away.

"Don't bring that bullshit on my door Hector. I've worked too hard to forget him, to forget you. You can't Just turn up here and make me look weak."

"How have I made you look weak?" I growl out at her slightly, my wolf not liking the accusation.

"I am the acting luna, that fight with Alpha Marc, was my fight. You made me look weak infront of him."

I take a deep breath in, trying to remember why I am here. I don't want to argue with her and I was too late. to protect her from Than. But I will protect her from others, whether she likes it or not.

"I wanted to kill him!"

"I'm sure you'll get the chance soon..."

"I'm not talking about Marc...I'm talking about Than. To imagine what..."

She puts her finger up to me, warning me to stop. But I can sense something between us, something that is calling for me to reach out to her. I know she has her Father, her sister now...even the Beta Samson to protect her but...something inside of me wants to do the same. How I can't let them fail her as I did. "Kaia!" I pull her into me, she hits my chest at first before finally giving in, finally letting me wrap my arms around her. I wasn't there then, to keep her safe but I will be from now on. My wolf has strong intuition and I was going to follow that.

"You need to tell them, they already think it odd you didn't join my pack runs. That I hadn't seen your wolf before."

"Why what's wrong with my wolf?" Her eyes look up at me, as she pushes away from my chest, wiping at her eyes.

Did she not know what she was.

"Nothing, it's just there aren't many white wolves..."

"My mother was one, I imagine Alora is as well."

"No Alora is light grey...how do you know your mother was a white wolf..." I quirk an eyebrow at her, she died giving birth...how would she know that.

She pauses for a moment before answering me.

"I don't know, I just know." She turns a small smile forming on her lips. Lips that only a moment ago. where quivering and I wanted to....I shake my head out What was wrong with me.

"Friends again?" I offer out with a hopefully smile.

"That depends, are you here to cause trouble...because can tell you now, Alora won't leave with you. She's starting to see a life outside of the mate bond...a life without the two of you, as am 1." My eyebrows furrow at her words, as am I? What did she mean by that. "No trouble from me." I put my hands out playfully.

"Fine, then if you get a glass you can join me..." She picks up her glass of wine up from the mantelpiece and walks back over to the sofa.

I leave the room heading towards the kitchen to fetch a glass, when the lingering scent of mangoes hits
