Redmption 312
Redmption 312
"What is it?" I asked with a smile.
Ellie bit her lip. "Mae, is my surgery going to cost a lot of money?"
My heart skipped a beat at her question, worried she might change her mind because of the
cost. "No, it's not that much. And don't worry about the money. Your brother just got a new job as a technical engineer. His salary is quite substantial."
Ellie remained silent. I moved closer to her. There was a concept in psychology called the "proximity effect". It suggested that sometimes trust wasn't b
someone.
I gently stroked Ellie's long, silky hair. "The doctor performing your surgery is a senior of one of my friends. He's incredibly skilled. All you need to do is on getting better. Once the surgery is over, you'll be healthy again."
"Mae." Ellie's eyes began to shimmer with tears. "You're so kind."
I smiled. “Of course. If I weren't, your brother wouldn't have liked me for so long."
Ellie chuckled at that. "Mae, the love between you and my brother is so sweet, just like in the novels."
Thinking about the romance novels she loves to read, I said, "Once you're healthy, you can have a sweet love story of your own."
Ellie's face turned red, showing that the idea appealed to her.
After all, what young girl doesn't dream of love? That was probably why she read the same novel over and over again.
While Ellie continued packing, I went to look for Brandon. He wasn't in his room, and I couldn't find him in the yard either.
Where did he go?
Curious, I walked out of the yard and looked around under the moonlight. In the distance, by the river, I saw his figure. Even in the darkness, I could recognize him. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
I used to be able to tell when Chris' car was
approaching or recognize his footsteps from afar. Now, I can identify Brandon from a distance. When someone is
in your heart, everything about them becomes a part of you.
I walked over to him. He was so lost in thought that he didn't even notice me approaching, so I playfully hugged him from behind.
Brandon tensed up but softly said, "What brings you here?"
let out a light hum. "Who am I? How did you know it was me? Why didn't you think it was one of the ladies
around here who had a crued.
you?"
My string of jealous questions even made me laugh at myself.
"No one else would dare, and besides..." Brandon paused slightly. "Your scent is unique."
So I've become a part of him, too. He can recognize me by my scent alone.
I released him and stepped in front of him, looking at his face. "Why are you out here alone? Is something on your mind?" Chapter 312
“No, just getting some-fresh air,” he said, gazing at the lake. However, the worried expression on his face gave away his lie.
I snuggled into his arms. "You're worried about Ellie, aren't you?"
He didn't respond, confirming my suspicion.
Even though I had found the best doctor for Ellie, there's never a 100% guarantee with surgery.
Brandon, usually so fearless, was
scared of the unknown and hesitant
to let Ellie go through with the
surgery. I understood his fear of loss and that he couldn't bear the
thought of losing her.
A terrifying thought suddenly crossed my mind. If something were to happen to Ellie during the surgery, Would Brandon blame me?
However, if she didn't have the surgery, Ellie wouldn't have long to live.
"Brandon," whispered, rubbing my face against his chest. "Don't worry,
everything will be fine. Let's pray. I
together for Ellie. She will come through this safely."
Brandon's hand rested on my head. "I know. And I've made my peace with it. Whatever happens, I'll accept it So don't worry about it."
I was taken aback. He had even sensed the fleeting thought that crossed my mind.
"It will be a good outcome. It has to be," I murmured.
"Yeah." Brandon held me close, falling silent once more.
