Chapter 106
Now they were lying in bed, his large hand resting on her waist and his steady breathing filling the room, but Dorothy still couldn’t figure it out. Was this… a continuation of the contract?
She struggled with it almost all night, and it wasn’t until she was dead tired that she finally drifted off.
When she woke up the next morning, the man beside her had gone.
Dressed in her pajamas, Dorothy walked out of the bedroom to see the breakfast that Everett had left behind on the dining table. It locked like there was no tiff between them at all.
Suddenly, the phone on the bedside table rang.
She ran over to check it. It was Karen.
“Didn’t you see the message I sent you yesterday?”
“Well, I was really busy yesterday. I got lots of business stuff to handle,”
“I’m asking the guy you were talking about it can’t be Mr. Lopez, right? Karen had been waiting for her reply all along.
Dorothy’s heart skipped a beat, “You sure have a wild imagination.
“So it’s not Mr. Lopez then?” Karen seemed relieved. “You scared the hell out of me! I thought you didn’t reply because I hit the nail on the head! Mr. Lopez is indeed a catch. But his relationship with Ms. Heather is an open secret, and the Lopez family is all in on it. Marriage is just a matter of time. If you’re really thinking about it, girl, I would advise you to think twice!”
Sure enough, even Karen thought Heather and Everett were the perfect couple
“Don’t worry, I know my limits.”
“It’s not that you’re not good enough. Don’t sell yourself short. It’s just that Mr Lopez is taken. He mentioned it during an interview once. He said he only has eyes for one person. He was so charming in that video that I’ve kept it on my USB to this day. Il send it to you later.”
Dorothy forced a smile, “No thanks.”
“Ugh! It’s okay to fantasize about him from time to time. If you’re really looking for a boyfriend, I’d still recommend Kenneth!”
Karen was really pushing it now. She longed to get her bestie into Kenneth’s bed
“That’s enough, girl, I think about it when I’ve made enough money”
After hanging up, Dorothy sat down and picked up a piece of toast. But before she could take a bite, the video from Karen came in.
After hesitating for a moment, she decided to open it.
In the video, Everett was wearing a dark suit with a black shirt underneath, which gave him a cold and aloof look. His chiseled face was calm and composed as he faced the camera.
“Mr. Lopez, do you have any plans to get married recently?” The reporter asked.
“No.”
“Do you prefer the soft type or the career type?”
“Career type.
The reporter smiled, “So, Mr. Lopez, you’ve got someone in mind?”
Everett paused for a moment, then nodded, “Yes, and it’s just for one person.”
The reporter asked him a lot more questions, and Everett answered each one professionally.
But Dorothy didn’t continue to watch. She turned off her phone and started biting her toast. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
For some reason, the toast didn’t taste good today. Not at all.
After breakfast, she cleaned up the table and went to ask Kevin about her schedule for the day.
In the elevator she took out her phone and deleted the video.
No point in watching it again.
