Branch One Hundred and Ninety Eight
TWO YEAR LATER.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
It was Joshua’s second year birthday and Xavier wanted a lavishly extravagant party for him. Jessica was of the opinion that they make it something small with family and friends but Xavier wanted to brag about his son to his partners.
Jessica did not see the need to have a lavish birthday for a two-year-old child. They had a lavish party at his first party and it seemed like Xavier was willing to make it a yearly thing.
They had a long discussion which almost led to an argument between them. In the end, Jessica succumbed to him to allow peace to reign. It was not going to affect her in any way so she could allow for the party.
Xavier had gone through long lengths and given the party planning process to a specialist. The party was too lavish to be called a one year old birthday. It was almost as lavish as the parties that Alicia and Jason threw once in a year now. They said they would make it a thing because they became an item after a party and they might help others find love.
Alicia and Jason had even flown in to have the party with them. They were lovers of parties so there was no way they were planning to miss this one.
The party started, Xavier and Jessica stood at the door with the ever hyper Joshua who could barely keep his feet on the ground to welcome the guest. Everyone was gushing about how beautiful the son was and how much he resembled Xavier.
Whenever Jessica heard those remarks she wished she did not think about giving birth to a son who looked like Xavier. She did all the carrying and pushing but he came out looking exactly like his father. There was no trace of her genes in his system.
The party started a few moments later and the dance floor was full. Joshua had a great affinity with the twins Anette and Andrew. Jessica and Leslie were almost always together and so were their children.
“Are you planning to have more children?” Alicia asked Jessica and Xavier as they stood close to the bouncy house the children were playing on.
“Of course not” Jessica replied.
“Definitely” Xavier replied.
The both of them said at the same time and turned to look at each other. Leslie, Jason, Brian, and Alicia burst into laughter at how cute the both of them were.
“I do all the work and the baby comes out looking like you” Jessica complains.
“I thought you wanted a child that looked like me?”
“I did but not anymore”
“Why?”
“Because I am doing all the work”
The party ended when the children could not keep their eyes open for the rest. Brain and Leslie took their children and called it a night while Alicia and Jason promised to continue their party at a bar. The rest of the partners and high-class people who were invited took their children home after making meaningful connections at the party.
“You can put Joshua to bed while I go have a rest,” Jessica said as she turned back to her husband carrying the boy.
“I always have to put him to bed why don’t you do so today?”
“For many reasons,” she told him.
“Like?”
“For starters, he likes it when you put him to bed and also you are the one who organized this party to tire him out, and then he looks too much like you” she stated.
“That’s not true” he protested.
“It is and the only reason you refuse to admit is because you know it is true”
“Okay okay, but I am not accepting because I agree. I only want you to go freshen up and wait for me” he said with a wink.
“Xavier,” Jessica said in a voice that voiced her disbelief. “I won’t be waiting for you” she added as she stomped away.
Xavier turned and entered the room before dropping the baby on the bed. He kissed his head and tucked him in before coming out and going downstairs to the kitchen to get a glass of water for himself and Jessica.
As Jessica entered the closet her eyes fell on the calendar she made for her menstrual cycle. She did not want to be caught unaware with a baby girl the last time so she was tracking it so dutifully. She noticed that her cycle was late by almost three weeks. She has a deep gut feeling that she hates. She sighed and turned around to the drawer where she kept the pregnancy kits.
She pulled one out and took it to the bathroom, she followed the instructions on it and waited for it to be ready. She heard Xavier enter the room with a whisper.
“Baby where are you?” he shouted as he entered. She kept quiet and did not answer because she wanted to make sure she was wrong first. She watched the timer on her phone go off and then pulled out the stick from the cup of urine.
“Xavier” she screamed when her eyes landed on the test stick.
He came rushing into the bathroom to meet her.
“What is it?”
“I should be asking you when you did this” She gave him the stick. He looked at it and smiled.
“You are pregnant?” he asked.
“Yes, why?”
“Oh my god, I am so happy”
THE END.
