Barely Breathing

Chapter 12: Trust me, I'll catch you

Chapter 12: Trust me, I'll catch you

Silence engulfed the air as we kept staring into each other.

"You…I want what's mine."

‘Come on Willow don't just stare, say something!’ I averted my eyes and stared elsewhere, when my vision fell to my bedside table where the white rose laid, crushed into pieces. Beside it laid the necklace he gave me.

He must have seen it because his face hardened. Great. That's it. Now think... Crushed rose… Crushed hope...

"I don't want you." I blurted.

Hurt flashed in his face but he quickly hides it. He was back to being unreadable, which makes it hard to read his thoughts. He had completely hidden well his emotions from me. His hold loosens a bit and I took a step back. Glad for the space between us.

He deserves that after fooling me for so long. I am not forgetting any of it. And I don't do pity.

"You'll learn it, I promise you." With that, he walked over to my closet and took my clothes, throwing them to the bed.

"Wait! What are you doing?" My eyes were as big as saucers now. An alarm rang in my head, this can't be happening.

"Packing your things." He opened another drawer and I saw him pulling out my t-shirts and tossed them to the bed too.

“Are you banishing me from this pack?" I asked, hopeful. Maybe, just maybe.

"No. You are moving to my room." He continued throwing my clothes to the bed and reached for my bags on top of the closet and throw them too in my direction. He was determined. This can’t happen. He was about to open my lower drawers and my eyes almost bugged out. My undies are there, oh my berries and waterlilies!

"Stop! Don't open that!" I shouted, panicking.

He stopped and frowned at me. His hand on the knob.

"Don't you dare open that!"

He looked confused but seeing the tension on my face, he grinned as realization dawned over him. He pulled the knob a little, teasing me.

"Don't!" I am panicking and I cannot move. As if there was a domino effect that if I move, he will open it. Come on Willow... think... think... think...

He stared intently at me, waiting patiently. I smiled sweetly at him to which he was taken aback. I could not blame him though. It was a first, I usually frown or glare.

"I…I'll do the packing. You…you just wait for me outside, okay?"

He arched his brows.

"I promise. Promise. Now let that go alright... I will handle the packing."

Oh, goddess. Have mercy.

"No. Unless…" He trailed off.

"Unless?" I waited patiently under his scrutinizing stare, smiling sweetly at him. My cheeks hurting from too much of it.

"Unless I have something out of it." Says the devil. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

"Screw you!" The nerve of him to take advantage of the situation.

He shrugged and turned back and was about to pull the knob.

"Wait!"

"Yes, princess?" It was his turn to smile sweetly. What a cunning man, he is. “I’m all ears.”

"I… I'll do anything. I promise. I… I'll grant you one wish. Deal?"

He shifted his eyes from me down to my outstretched hand and seemed to weigh it on his mind. He finally let go of the knob and I was able to breathe again normally. He walked towards me in long strides and stopped right in front of me. Xyrus was beaming triumphantly and tapped the tip of my nose.

"Deal."

He then leaned on the door frame and put his hands on his pocket, watching my every move as I picked up the bag and put clothes inside." I told you I can do it on my own. I'll call you when I'm done. Now off you go. Shoo... "

I pushed him out the door and luckily, he didn't protest.

"I'll go but don't you try to escape Willow. You wouldn't want to be punished. Trust me, I'll catch you." He said with a stern face. Talk about some bipolar Alpha.

"I won't. Now just go."

He did one last look like a warning before walking away. Probably off to his office to do Alpha stuff. Finally, on my own, I heaved a sigh. That was close. I packed my things for few minutes all that I can carry with me and locked the door.

I then went to the bathroom right through the mirror and cringed at my appearance. My hair was everywhere, my eyes got black and red underneath from crying last night. I was not on my best appearance. Xyrus probably laughed mentally at me that's why he grinned a lot.

I started the shower and hopped on. After I was satisfied, I am clean, I dressed up in a random white shirt, a pullover jacket, and grey yoga pants. I picked up my white sneakers and put them on.

I did one last look at my room and went near the window, throwing my bag on the ground. A smile appearing on my lips.

‘Who says I won't try.’
