Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1920

Burrowing into his arms, Carolien rubbed her aching nose. Lifting her gaze, confusion filled her eyes. "Huh?"

"What's wrong? Hasn't he had enough yet?"

Just as the thought flashed through Carolien's mind, Elijah replied on cue, "Hug me."

She tilted her head and looked at him. Raising her hand, Carolien reached out and touched his forehead. "What's wrong with you? Are you unwell?" What kind of ridiculous issue was this?

"Yes, I seem to have eaten too much!"

It wasn't that uncomfortable. Elijah was just greedy for that feeling so he came up with a random excuse.

"Are you a child? Are you trying to overindulge?" She couldn't understand why he didn't know his own limits when it came to eating.

While saying this, Carolien leaned to one side and supported him. She touched him with concern and gently massaged him. "Is your stomach uncomfortable? Does it hurt or not?"

"Here? Or here?"

"Do you feel better?"noveldrama

As if taking care of a child, Carolien's expression and actions were very serious.

Although he was full, it wasn't as bad as she was making it seem. However, Carolien's sudden actions made Elijah's mind go blank.

"I'm all right. I'm just a little bloated. I'll be fine soon!"

"What do you mean 'fine'? You obviously hurt your stomach. You're going to get indigestion!"

She had no idea that Elijah was leaning against her because he wanted to feel her softness. She thought he was in pain, so she was treating him like a patient.

"I'll help you up to your room to get some rest. Prevention is always better than cure. Do you have any stomach medicine at home?"

"I think so!"

"Let's go then!"

During the conversation, Carolien helped him back to his room. She poured warm water for him and looked around for the medicine. She saw the medicine box, but unfortunately, it was empty inside. She saw a lot of commonly used medicines along with a bunch of user manuals for stomach medicine that had been left inside. Clearly, he often had digestive issues. As she was tidying up the box, Carolien came to a conclusion.

"There's no more stomach medicine. I remember there's a pharmacy by the convenience store nearby. I'll pop by to get some for you!"

Walking to the wardrobe on one side, Carolien had already taken out her coat. Meanwhile, Elijah, who had been immersed in his thoughts, snapped back into reality."

"No! I'm fine. I'm feeling much better!"

"What do you mean 'fine'? Can't you just be honest and admit you're feeling unwell?"

She turned around and walked to the sofa. Carolien pushed him back down and said, "Be good and wait here! Don't worry. I won't run off or leave you here."

Waving her hand, Carolien had already picked up her handbag and rushed to the door with a few strides.

After Alistair caught pneumonia and had to be hospitalized, Carolien was deeply traumatized by that incident. She couldn't let Elijah suffer. She had no idea that he had made all this up just to get her attention. In the end, he had dug his own grave. It was too late for him to turn back now and say he wasn't sick.

After watching her walk out of the door and listening to the sound of footsteps, Elijah's entire body was shrouded in a strange mix of emotions.

In fact, from childhood to adulthood, Elijah had always wanted someone to care for him. Unfortunately, he had never been able to experience it.

His father was a weak and sickly man who loved someone else other than Elijah's mother. His mother, Barbara, was the so-called

second-in-command of the Dragot

Gang. She was actually the adopted daughter of the Luther family. He

was not sure whether she loved his

father or not. But most everyone. knew that their marriage was to further the Luther family's business and bloodline. Simply put, the woman his father fell in love with was unable to be the

daughter-in-law of the Luther family due to various reasons. Thus, his father ended up marrying Barbara and giving birth to Elijah.

A traditional family, at least in his mind, should have a stern father and a loving mother! But from his memory, his family was the reverse. Everything in his family was his mother's decision. His fathe showed no care for anything, nor did he have any control. He eventually died at a young age. The relationship between the two was probably as cold as ice. Meanwhile, Elijah was born with the burden of carrying on the Luther family's legacy. Hence, he had to learn how to be independent as a child.

It had to be said that his mother was very capable. Despite being a

woman, she took over the Luther

family and took care of everythinne

perfectly. For this, she even sacrificed her whole body. To support a family, she had. off strong. Her appearance had to be daunting. During Elijah's parents' generation, it was hard for women to be well-rounded, especially in their industry. Not to mention the fact that she was beautiful as well. However, his mother managed to single-handedly bring him to the top.

His mother loved him and treated him very well, but their way of getting along and their close relationship might be more like father and son. This was because he had witnessed his mother's pain along the way. He had seen his mother, who acted so sturdy and firm, crying bitterly in the corners of the night. Ever since he was young, he had been exceptionally strict with himself and vowed to be strong. He had to be a man stronger than his mother to protect her.

He had achieved his goal to become a stronger person that could protect others. But deep down, he was actually eager to experience the kind of tender love he had never seen before. This feeling seemed to fill the emptiness of his childhood, making him lose control of himself.

Her mother had devoted her whole life to the Luther family. The marriage between her and his father most likely had only one purpose, and that was to have a husband to show. As for whether she was grateful to the Luther family or whether she really loved Elijah's father, no one knew.

It was also because of this that although his mother did not remarry after his father died, almost everyone acquiesced to her finding a man outside. It was no secret that the second in command of the Dragons Gang kept a man outside, but no one said anything. Whether his mother's marriage was a tragedy was hard to say, but at least for her, her life was not perfect.

When it came to Elijah's marriage or relationships, she would be concerned but she never forced anything.

She had said to him before that she hoped he could end up with someone he loved, no matter who the other person was. It didn't matter what background they came from or what gender they were. She could accept anyone as long as he was willing and happy. Life was short. There was no time for regret. The Luther family didn't matter, and it was fine if he didn't have children.

This was a want that Elijah had forgotten about long ago. Now, for the first time, he was realizing that it felt great.

As he was deep in his thoughts, he heard the sound of footsteps approaching. Unconsciously, his eyes lit up.
