Chapter 46
the past or was it the fact that she is regretful for making Alisa worried?
"I'm sorry. I should have called you when I arrived but I was busy taking care of some business. Sorry, for making you worry so much." Rose finally spoke in a soft, regretful voice. She herself wasn't sure why she sounded regretful. Is it the fact that she is regretful about Alisa's eyes widened when she heard Rose. This is the first time she would ever hear Rose sound like this in all the years they've known each other. "It- it's okay, I'm no longer angry. Now that I've heard your voice I'm at peace. However, you've spent a week there, when did you plan to come back?" she asked. Rose paused when she heard Alisa's question. That right she was supposed to return back but she hadn't informed Alisa of her change of decision. Thinking about it, she was a bit hesitant to tell her because she didn't know how she'd react.
"Hey, why are you quiet? Don't tell me you still want to stay back. We have an examination coming up soon?" Alisa asked when she noticed how silent Rose was.
"Lisa, there is something I have to tell you. I don't think I will be returning back, because I will transfer to a new school here." She finally revealed.
"What? Are you being serious right now? Wait..... don't tell me you're staying with that evil family of yours that has something to do with the thing you want to take care of that you can't tell me?" Alisa inquired, quickly connecting the dots of why Rose would want to stay behind in California.
"Well, you can say it's somewhat related to it." Rose slowly replied.
"So it is. Normally you plan to visit home in a month's time and come back before we start our examination which is about four months from now. But now you're no longer coming back. How am I supposed to cope without you?" Alisa's voice turned softer as she was trying to mask her sadness but was doing a real terrible job at it.
Rose sighed when she heard Alisa's sad voice. She didn't know why but she felt a huge pang of pain in her chest too, just thinking about how she wouldn't see Alisa's face everyday again. But she was also doing this for Alisa's sake. She didn't want her to face the same tragic accident she did in her past life since she blamed herself for Alisa's death. If she hadn't invited her, she wouldn't have come to the country and her family wouldn't have plotted against her. Although she wanted to be a good friend to Alisa in this life and make their friendship stronger, she was also trying to avoid Alisa's death as well.
"I will miss you too. But don't worry, we can always chat and catch up with each other on the phone everyday. How is that?" Rose finally made a suggestion that brought a small smile on Alisa's face.
"Sure, we can always do that. Oh, and you can tell me about this new school and of yours." Alisa excitedly said.
Rose smiled when she heard Alisa and the excitement in her voice. "Then we have a deal."
The two friends talk for a while before Rose hangs up the phone call and places the phone on the table.
Since she had sorted out Alisa and had nothing else to do, she opened the book she had brought outside with her and started feeling engrossed in it.
Thirty minutes later, she was still reading the book when her mind suddenly wandered off to something. "Yes, how could I forget about those two things?!" Rose suddenly spring up from her seat and rushed back into her bedroom.
She quickly grabbed the black backpack which she had brought along with her when she arrived at the mansion. She opened a small secret compartment in the backpack and took out two small boxes.
One of the boxes was dark blue
while the second one was red. She
reached out her hand and first of all
grabbed the navy blue colored box
and opened it. She saw two luxurious pieces of jewelry, a masculine ring and necklace. Rose gently caressed the two pieces of jewelry carefully as different thoughts started running through her mind. Just one glance at this jewelry and one could easily tell that the ring and necklace cost a fortune and were extremely expensive.
She wasn't originally the owner of these jewelry, they had fallen off from the coat of the mysterious man she had met about three to four years ago. By the time she discovered the existence of this jewelry she had tried searching if she'd see a piece of this jewelry online however she couldn't find any. It was then she realized that these two small looking jewelry might have been an unlimited jewelry that was solely made for the owner, who is the mysterious man she met.
"I can probably just sell one of these pieces of jewelry to make money since I'm broke currently. But won't selling something as precious as this bring trouble? Besides, the owner could actually be looking for it as well. They look like something precious." Rose mumbled to herself and she finally closed the box and placed it far away to avoid temptation. She had decided to leave this jewelry alone and not sell it because it could put her in trouble which she didn't want to.
She turned back her attention to the second red looking box which was none other than the same box Paige was talking about earlier. This was the box Ruby had asked Paige to give her daughter the night she tragically died and it was the day she was traveling to study abroad Paige gave it to her in her room.
"Young Miss, I apologize for giving you this late. Your mother asked me to give you this box the night she met with that unfortunate accident. She told me to tell you that you shouldn't open this box until you are a lot older to understand what is in it." A young looking Paige said as she stretched the box towards Rose who was very young at that time as well.

"Young Miss, please listen to your mother's last instruction. This is the last Instruction she made to you before she departed from this life, the only thing you can do is honor her. Please do not open this box until you're older." Paige said as she raised her hand up to pat Rose on the head. "Fine, I understand." Rose finally nodded her head.
"Mother did? But why can't I just open it now?" Rose asked while tilting her head after collecting the box from Paige.
