Chapter 1534 Just in Case
Just as she was thinking this, the beat-up van sped past her, wobbling dangerously and nearly plunging off the cliff.
"Who drives like that? Are they trying to get themselves killed?" Jessica grumbled from the passenger seat.
"Just a restaurant supply van, acting all high and mighty," Aurora said angrily.
"Young people think they're invincible," Annika said, clearly annoyed but not overly concerned. "Maybe it's a new driver."
"I think it's the same van we saw last time," Jessica said. "Remember that incident?"
"Yeah, I remember," Annika nodded. "Ms. James had us look into it. It was just a supply van for some restaurant, right?"noveldrama
"Exactly. I saw it heading towards the restaurant again. It's probably the same one," Jessica confirmed.
"Forget it, let's just get back," Annika said, speeding up towards the Hillside Villa. Once they arrived, Annika told Aurora to park the car while she headed inside.
Suddenly, Jessica pointed at the back of the car and gasped, "Annika, look!"
Annika turned around and saw blood on the rear of the car. She froze for a moment before rushing over to inspect it. "What the hell? We didn't hit anything."
"Could we have hit a small animal?" Jessica asked, uneasy.
"I don't think so," Annika frowned. "I would have noticed if we hit something."
"Maybe we ran over something that was already dead?" Jessica suggested. "That could explain the blood."
"If that were the case, the blood would be on the tires," Annika pointed out. "Look, the tires are clean."
"Then what is it?" Jessica was puzzled.
"Could it be from that supply van?" Aurora walked over and asked.

"But we didn't collide with it or even graze it," Annika said, confused. "Could the blood have splattered from their van onto ours?"
"That's possible," Jessica nodded quickly. "But Annika, the way you put it, it's kind of creepy."
"Yeah," Aurora shivered. "No wonder they were driving so fast. Could it be a crime scene?"
"You two go check it out. If there's anything suspicious, call the police immediately," Annika ordered decisively.
"Got it," Jessica and Aurora said, heading off to investigate.
Annika had someone park the car and secure it for evidence collection, then went upstairs to find Sadie.
It was already late at night, and Sadie was still in her study, working on some documents.
Annika knocked and entered, reporting on the hospital situation.
"Just as you suspected, someone tried to infiltrate the hospital, but Jesse's team caught them. Jesse is interrogating them now, but we're not sure if they'll get any useful information."
"It'll be tough," Sadie said calmly. "They probably anticipated that I'd have security at the hospital and sent someone to test our defenses."
"Jesse said the same thing," Annika nodded. "Mia's condition is improving, and Rodolfo's injuries are healing quickly, but Andrew..."
Annika's voice faltered. "He hasn't shown any signs of improvement. Gabriella said it's up to fate now; there's nothing more she can do."
"He'll get better," Sadie reassured her. "It might just take some time. If Gabriella can't help, we'll find another doctor."
"Okay," Annika forced a small smile. "By the way, Ms. James, we encountered something strange on our way up the mountain..."
Annika detailed the incident to Sadie, concluding, "I've already sent Jessica and Aurora to investigate."
"A restaurant supply van would be carrying a lot of food, maybe some raw meat leaked and the blood splattered onto our car," Sadie said dismissively. "But it's good to check it out, just in case."
