Chapter 1390 Find A Way To See Him
"I think it's neither," Josie said seriously. "If they were truly backing you, you wouldn't have ended up bankrupt.” Morgan nodded. "Go on."
"Morgan, how come I never knew you had a sister?" Josie asked, half leaning against the railing.
Morgan's expression stiffened. "Who told you?"
"Jasper."
"She's been dead for many years now. There's no need to bring it up."
It seemed like a genuine heartache, yet Josie felt that something was amiss. However, she didn't feel it was appropriate to pry further.
Morgan lit a cigarette and proposed, "Let's make a deal."
"What?"
"Be with me, and I'll bail Dexter out for you."
"For me?" Josie laughed. "I have nothing to do with him. What do you mean by bailing him out for me?"
"You're so worried about him, but it's only because of the child between you two, and your ties with the Olsen family. I can bail him out for you if you be with me and cut off all ties with him from here on." Josie scoffed, "Why should I believe you? Because of Eccentric Corporation?" He must have lost his mind.
"I have evidence of the crime committed by the person who messed with Dexter in my possession."
Josie's smile faded. "Morgan, do you know what you're saying?"
Morgan's smile only grew wider. "You don't believe me?"
There were a few brief moments of silence before Josie regained her composure. "Stop acting like a hopeless romantic. I've known for a long time that any transaction comes with a loss." The night breeze swept up her long hair, obscuring half of her face. For a moment, Morgan was captivated. In the many years that followed, he always remembered this scene.
"I was just kidding." Morgan then phrased it differently, "For the next phase of Olsen Group's project, find a way to continue our collaboration. I'll handle things for you." Josie, however, was somewhat skeptical.
"What, is there a reason to doubt a simple monetary transaction? Eccentric Corporation is eager to establish a firm footing in Wavery."
"I'm just a small-time employee right now."
"You're capable, Jo. I believe in you" Morgan said, his smile warm as he affectionately ruffled her hair. Then, he walked away with his hands in his pocket.
After he left, Josie remained on the bridge for a long while. From this spot, she could see Dexter's hotel.
She wondered what he was up to now.
The following day, during the departmental meeting, Josie finally understood what project Morgan was referring to.
Olsen Group was seeking to
transform itself and had plans to
acquire small to medium-sized
companies of related types. The et
operations involved in this process required a team with extensive experience.
Coincidentally, Morgan was quite skilled.

isn't Daddy back yet?"
Josie feigned jealousy as she said, "You little ingrate, you've forgotten Mommy so quickly. Haven't I been right by your side?"
"Mommy and Daddy are different," Grape murmured.
Josie chuckled, crouching down. "Everyone fears him, yet you don't fear him at all. You really are his daughter."
"Can I video call Daddy? If I can't see him in person, a video call would work."
After saying that, she eagerly went to fetch Josie's phone, clumsily attempting to unlock it.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Josie's expression turned somber.
In the middle of the night, she placed a call to Morgan.
"Find a way for me to see him. I'll take care of things for you."
Morgan flashed a bitter smile, seemingly taken aback. "Why not ask the Olsen family for help?"
"Isn't asking them for help the same as asking you? Stop pretending. Just tell me if you can do it or not." Mark was essentially in the same boat as them. Once he went under, everyone was bound to capsize. "All right, I'll do it."
