Chapter 44: Slip and Leak
Chapter 44: Slip and Leak
Chapter 44-CMA
Ashira’s POV
“That’s heartless.” I commented.
Nick and Seth was talking about what had happened and I was petrified by what Elon did to his wolves.
He freaking killed his own family! And for what?! I haven’t met the guy but I can tell that he’s out of
sanity!
The two were discussing that what happened seemed like a scheme but they can’t point any possible
reason for Elon to commence it.
But for me, even if that was a play or those wolves did in-surge against their Aplha, Elon had no right to
take a life easily like that!
“He was keeping something. I bet he planned that attack and wanted to came clean.” Nick concludes.
I scoffed. “He shouldn’t be an Alpha. He’s staining a very respectful title and an important position with
his way of leading.”
Seth nodded to agree with my statement and Nick just sighed in frustration.
“And the renewal of treaty with them?” Nick shook his head, he’s clearly disapprove of what has to
come. “after all this, I’m sure the highest council would be glad to throw him off his title.”
“Kill him even.” Seth seconded.
Nick was talking about the highest council of the Wolves. It consists of The Judge, The Punisher, The
Enforcer and the King Alpha himself.
The highest council’s prior task was to maintain the peace between the packs of the four region of the
continent. East, West, South and North--where our pack resides. Other than that, they are in-charge
with crimes and unruly behaviour of Alpha leaders and some ‘rare cases’ which I’m unaware of.
“We should report this to the highest council.” I said. I’m not sure how that works but I’m sure they
could do something about this. Since Prime and Ravenous is under the oath of peace, I knew that
Aiden can’t take any action to sort this event though he’s itching to make a move.
“We could if we can find them.” Nick said chuckling.
Oh, yeah. I forgot.
“No one knew where The Castle is. They are always the one who finds us, not the other way around.”
Seth explained. I nodded and sighed.
I forgot that the high council have the ability to know the trouble, problems and the sort. They are the
ones who pick a situation at large. But that’s unfair. Should we wait for more innocent lives to be fallen
just so they could punish an alpha like Elon?
“Plus, there’s no witnesses. Elon killed them. I doubt his disciple will betray him but the lady head guard
clearly showed disapproval of her Alpha’s behavior.” Nick added.
“Was she hot?” Seth asked Nick as he wiggles his brows.
“She ain’t my mate, so nope.”
I sighed. How can this two speak of-urgh. Guys.
I cleared my throat and they both looked at me. Seth’s even half-smirking.
“A girl? You think she could stand as witness?”
“Nah. She must’ve gained her position by being loyal to her Alpha. I doubt she’ll even break it.” Seth
butted in.
“A lady head guard. Alpha Elon sure trust that woman.”
Okay, that makes sense. She-Wolves in a council position are rare. I couldn’t disagree with what they
said. That girl must’ve gained her way up by earning enough trust from Elon.
Damn. I feel bad about all this. This saddens me to the point that it affects my thoughts.
I smell the scent of Aiden and he must’ve gone out of the room by how strong the scent was. Secretly, I
inhaled the sweet, tangling scent and filled my lungs with it, trying to distract myself from the
conversation.
His scent works like magic instantly.
Seth raised a brow at me but ignored me after. He continued talking to Nick about the same topic and I
refrain from filling my lungs with my mate’s scent.
“What’s for dinner?” Aiden’s baritone deep voice filled my ears as soon as he speak. I looked over my
shoulder to see him walking closer to the table where we’re seated while shaking his wet hair.
Oh, hi there, gorgeous.
I chuckled inwardly from my thought. My mate screams appeal and sultry all over him!
Aiden raised a brow as he looked at me before smirking. He walked towards my direction, snaking his
hand on my waist as soon as he came close. I wanted to inhale more of him but my lungs already
reached its limit.
“Gorgeous, huh?” he chuckled as he whispered those words. My eyes widened from abrupt shock! He
heard me?!
My mouth dropped open and I tried hard to ignore Seth who took a glimpse at our side. Nick was still
busy talking but I know Seth was half listening to what he was saying.
Aiden looked at me with amused but confused eyes. More amusement, though. He watched my face
intently like a movie was being played.
“I-” my words were cut when he leaned closer and planted a deep kiss on my forehead. I saw how
knotted his forehead were, confused about something.
“Are you okay?” he whispered after. My forehead creased from his question but he spoke before I
could. “You’re thoughts were slipping…” he looked unsure of his own words. On his last word,
particularly.
My forehead knotted even more.
“Not slipping, its leaking.” Seth butted in. Both Aiden and I snapped our heads to a confused Seth who
mirrored our expression. “Why can I hear her thoughts?” he points his finger at me.
Nick continues blabbering about something as he checks his phone.
Aiden looked at me again, carefully studying my face. He didn’t respond to Seth and I don’t know what
to say neither.
Aiden placed his hands on my neck, his long fingers extended to my nape that expanded the heat that
his skin delivered.
“How are you feeling?” he asked. I can see Seth on my peripheral sight and he’s no longer paying
attention to mumbling Nick but to us.
“I-I’m not feeling any thing…” ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Aiden eyed Seth for a second before bringing his eyes on me again. “Try to breathe, baby. Get your
thoughts together. You’re freaking me out.” he almost whispered the last words.
I tried analyzing what was happening. Aiden heard my thoughts and from what Seth said, he did too!
What is happening?
Slipping? Leaking? What, my thoughts?!
“Ash, stop thinking and rebuild your barricade.” Seth snorted as if my thoughts distorted his.
I rolled my eyes and looked at Aiden. His jaw were clenching and I could tell he’s not happy with this.
Why wouldn’t he? I just praised him inside my-- Okay, nope. Don’t let him hear that part, Ashira.
I closed my eyes and sighed loudly. Multiple times. There’s a part of my wolf that howls but when I
asked her why, she didn’t responded to me.
What the Fuck? My wolf has been aloof for quite some time now. Its like, she got a world on her own
inside me! Do I need a run? I think I need one!
Okay, clear your head, girl.
As soon as I felt I’m in control, I opened my eyes and raised my eyebrows to Aiden. Questioning him if
its all good now or what.
When he sighed and relief can be heard, my nerved calmed a bit.
“What was that, huh?” Seth asked. Nick looked my way, unaware of what was happening.
“What was what?” Nick blurted.
“You didn’t heard her?” Aiden asked Nick who knotted his forehead. Okay, from he’s reaction, I’m
guessing he didn’t.
“Were you discussing about something?” his question was directed to me. “I’m sorry, I was talking with
Seth here. I didn’t paid attention to you. What is it?”
I shook my head lightly. Now, I feel weird. If my thoughts leaked as they said, why hasn’t it reached
Nick?
I’d like to brainstorm about this but I was afraid my thoughts will slip once more so I decided to halt and
reset.
Aiden’s eyes didn’t left mine. The confusion and amusement on it was placed with wariness. I knew
deep down that those eyes was wondering the same thought I’d like to wander.
He removed his hands on my neck and it went on both sides of my waist. He positioned himself on my
back while I was faced to the two guys who’s looking at Aiden right now.
Seth cleared his throat. “Maybe we should cook dinner for tonight, Nick.”
“Y-Yeah…” Nick agreed. I was confused about their reactions but since I’m not yet a good cook, I didn’t
argue. Plus, my head was occupied, uh, indirectly.
Both of them headed to the freezer and started arguing what to cook for the night. I felt Aiden drew
himself closer on my back and I’m pressed to his broad shoulders.
My mind was once again drowned by his overwhelming scent and heat but before I could fantasize him
in my head, Seth glanced on our side, making my system panicked.
Was it leaking? Was my thoughts slipping like they said?
I saw Seth looked above my head, to Aiden. His eyes focused on my mate for a few seconds, probably
talking through their minds, before looking away.
“You’re not okay.” Aiden whispered in my ears. “What’s troubling you, huh?”
I cleared my throat and shut my eyes closed. How the hell should I answer him? I don’t know what
they’re talking about! Why would I even let my thoughts slip my grip when I tried hard to learn
controlling it so that Aiden can’t easily read me through?
“I’m not troubled, Aiden.” I sighed, frustrated. “Is something wrong with me?”
He peeked his head to look me in the eyes. I’m sure there’s worry and uneasiness in those golden-
brown eyes but he managed to gave me an assured small smile.
“You’re perfect, baby.” he gave me a peck in the lips that shook me whole inside. “Want to visit Z again
after dinner? Maybe we could ask her.”
I shook my head fast. “I can’t stand the scent. It’s suffocating.”
“Hmm,” his hand moved up to fix some loose strands of hair on my face. “ We’ll observe this changes
over night then I’ll visit her alone tomorrow.”
I nodded.
“Eggs are for breakfast, idiot!” Seth caught my attention and I turned my head to them. Aiden also
settled on a seat beside me, and I’m sure his eyes were still on me.
Both Seth and Nich argued about what the meal of the night is but I can’t laugh or smile even though
they’re being funny.
One thing my mind kept bugging me about is why did my thoughts suddenly went berserk. I’m feeling
fine, better. I’m only irritated and angered by what Elon did but I’m not thinking too much about it to lose
hold of my senses.
Even if Aiden won’t confirm it, I knew something is off with me.
I just don’t know what it is.
