Chapter 14 Being Beaten
Tina worked hard this afternoon and made countless phone calls, all of which came to nothing.
She had thought about calling her "connections" before but gave the idea up after a second thought.
After all, there was no need to give them a chance to humiliate her.
She felt so stressed that she had no time to think nonsense now.
She had no potential customers to follow, so she did not need to waste time working overtime. Sitting in
the office to work on excel forms would not help improve her sales performance.
So, she picked up her bag and left. She was staying at Alice's place for now, so she called her to ask if
she needed to buy some groceries before going back.
Alice soon answered the call.
"Alice, I'm planning to go to the grocery. What would you like to eat?" All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
After Tina finished speaking, there was no response. Instead, she heard some loud noises.
Alice was an owner of a bar, but it was not dark yet, so the bar shouldn't have been so lively now.
Tina asked a few more questions. But before hearing Alice's response, she heard screams on the
phone.
"Alice?"
Tina called her name several times in a row, but the latter hung up the phone.
The bar Alice ran was named Golden Club, which was one of the best in Xesxia. Moreover, she had a
powerful backer, so common people should not have dared to make trouble for her.
Tina felt a little worried, so she took a taxi to Golden Club.
It was getting late, and the lights were on. There were many entertainment venues near Golden Club,
so she saw luxury cars everywhere. The happiness of the rich was ostentatious.
Tina got out of the car and quickly walked into Golden Club. She had been to this place several times
before, so the waiters at the gate knew her.
"Miss Lynd, long time no see."
When Tina walked in with the waiter under the dim light, she found everything was tidy. And a singer
was singing quietly on stage. It seemed no one had made trouble here.
"I'm here to meet Alice. Where is she?"
As soon as Tina finished asking, she looked up and saw Alice standing in the crystal corridor on the
second floor. So, she secretly felt relieved.
Seeing Tina from above, Alice said something to the man beside her and then walked down the spiral
staircase.
"Why did you come here?"
Alice was a little surprised to her because she disliked this kind of place.
Tina shook her phone and said, "I called you just now and heard something weird. So, I thought you
got in trouble."
Alice clicked her tongue and patted her head, saying, "I was so busy that I forgot about the call. When
you called me, a psycho knocked my phone off before I could see the caller ID. "
Tina looked around but found there was no trace of trouble at all. So, she knew Alice had solved the
problem.
Alice hooked her arm around Tina's shoulders and let her go upstairs, saying, "Since you're here, go to
my office to have a rest. We'll go back together."
Tina was unwilling to stay and was afraid Alice would misunderstand that she discriminated against
places like bars if she refused. So, she could only keep silent. But after taking her to the third floor,
Alice didn't lead her to her office.
"Jonathan brought a big shot over, so I must go downstairs to welcome him now. Go to my office by
yourself. It's the innermost one with my name on the door."
Tina did not want to cause any inconvenience, so she hurriedly said, "Okay! Hurry up and go
downstairs."
Alice instantly turned around and went downstairs, not daring to neglect the big shot.
Walking to the end of the corridor, Tina saw the door with a capital "L" on it. But when she tried to push
it open, she found it was locked.
And she had forgotten to ask for the password.
So, she had no choice but to stand outside to wait, thinking Alice would come back soon.
The carpet under her feet was soft, and its price must be extremely high. Tina stepped on it several
times, feeling much better.
Suddenly, she heard several people hurry upstairs.
So, she turned her back to the stairs, not wanting to recognize others or to be recognized.
Unexpectedly, the footsteps got closer and closer and stopped behind her.
Tina couldn't help turning around. But before she could see the comer, a large glass of wine was
splashed on her face.
"B*tch, how dare you seduce my husband? Are you courting death?"
It was very painful when alcohol got into her eyes. Otherwise, Tina would have asked why all the
women said the same lines when hitting mistresses.
Before she could react, she was slapped in the face, lost her balance, and fell to the ground.
"Why are you standing still? Hit her!"
The woman was not satisfied after splashing the wine and slapping the "mistress", so she threw her
bag on Tina's head and asked her friends to hit her together.
Tina was shocked. While protecting her head, she reasoned, "You mistook me for someone else. I'm
just waiting for my friend here!"
But no one listened to her. These women barked and hit her like crazy, focusing on beating her face.
When someone slapped her head, her ears began ringing.
When holding her head, Tina could only hear filthy curses but couldn't run away. So, she felt sad and
scared at the same time. She thought she was extremely unlucky because she had taken a taxi all the
way here to get beaten.
"What are you doing?"
A male voice unexpectedly interrupted the women's curses, and they instantly stopped throwing
punches at Tina.
