Celestial Queen: Revenge Is Sweet When You’re A Zillionaire Heiress

Chapter 1708

Chapter 1708:

The groups collided. Darin’s heart fluttered with unease at the sight of Harlee. He wondered if he had previously crossed this influential figure.

Ashley’s expression darkened upon seeing Harlee. If not for Harlee, Elva would have fallen under her manipulations, instead of thriving with an early internship. Harlee was solely to blame, notoriously haughty in Mechuique simply because of her family wealth!

Harlee cast a cool glance over the group, her gaze pausing briefly on Serena before moving on. Despite her attempt to remain inconspicuous, her striking features drew attention.

Harlee continued forward, her stride unhindered by the crowd.

When Serena spotted Harlee, her expression brightened momentarily, almost greeting Harlee. But a sharp look from Harlee reminded her to maintain their guise of unfamiliarity. Harlee had instructed that unless Nola made their connection public, they were to act as strangers.

Struggling to feign indifference, Serena adopted a stern demeanor, which Ashley interpreted as distaste for Harlee, deepening her respect for Serena.

Darin, catching this interaction, was conflicted but dared not displease Harlee. After settling Serena into her apartment, Darin planned a quick visit to the biology department to hasten Elva’s dismissal, hoping to keep Serena from any displeasure at Uwhor University.

Worried about potential conflicts, Darin greeted Harlee with forced casualness.

“Ms. Sanderson, what a coincidence. Are you accompanying Elva back to school?”

If not for his awareness of Harlee’s formidable background, Darin might have found it awkward to address a young woman with excessive deference. But Harlee was just too impressive. At twenty years old, she had completed her graduate studies at a top Mechuique university. She was far from ordinary.

Ashley looked on with visible distaste. Why did Darin feel compelled to greet this woman, especially when even Serena seemed to disapprove of her?noveldrama

Ashley’s look was not lost on Serena. Serena inwardly thought, “Humph, since you dare to disrespect Harlee, don’t expect to attend my lectures without facing humiliation!”

Ashley would never have imagined that she would be in trouble for an expression. Serena made things tough for Ashley during the next two days of lectures and publicly threw her out of the class, damaging her reputation.

Harlee, idly toying with her phone, nodded slightly, a mischievous glint appearing in her eyes.

“Yes, Elva is dealing with some personal matters, and we’ll likely stay in Uwhor for a couple of days or more.”

She emphasized the duration of their stay, knowing full well it would unsettle Darin, who was eager for her departure.

Upon hearing this, Darin’s expression faltered briefly before he managed a polite nod.

“In that case… You’re welcome to attend Professor Fletcher’s lectures if you find the time.”

His invitation was merely a formality, devoid of sincerity. Yet, this unexpectedly resulted in Serena agreeing to extend her lectures after his persuasive urging.

After a tense pause, Darin turned to Serena, who maintained a composed façade, and introduced her formally.

“This is Professor Serena Fletcher, a distinguished figure who has made invaluable contributions to the medical field.”

Serena struggled to maintain her composure as she was introduced in front of Harlee.

Harlee raised her eyebrows, her response casual and slightly teasing.

“Oh, hello, Professor Fletcher.”

Everyone, except for Serena, grew enraged, and their faces fell because of Harlee’s nonchalant demeanor. Her tone even felt insulting. Darin, who had planned to be friends with Harlee, struggled to keep his smile in place. Nonetheless, he bit the bullet and moved ahead to defuse the tension. He had to maintain positive relationships with both Serena and Harlee, after all.
