Chapter 1381
Chapter 1381:
Madisyn’s mind drifted to the first time Andrew had ever told her a bedtime story. It had been right after they started dating—he was away on a business trip, and he’d recited a story to her over the phone. After that, he had done it occasionally. But after Nana was born, she had taken her place as the one demanding his stories.
Now, seeing him about to tell stories again stirred a familiar warmth in her chest.
The gentle rhythm of his touch, the quiet comfort he offered—it was in these moments that Madisyn realized she could fall in love with him a little more every single day.
A small smile played on her lips, a soft sigh escaping with it. “Honey,” she called again, interrupting the beginning of Andrew’s story.
“What is it?” he asked patiently.
Madisyn reached out, closing the small space between them. With their faces close, she wrapped her arms around his neck, leaning in until her lips found his with quiet certainty.
No matter when or where, Madisyn’s embrace had always been something Andrew could never resist.
In a swift motion, Andrew’s hand slid from Madisyn’s back to cradle the back of her head, taking control.noveldrama
As the lingering kiss came to an end, Madisyn propped herself up and gazed at Andrew.
“Honey, I want to talk to you.”
The sound of her voice made Andrew tense, undoing the ease he’d just felt in her embrace. He had a feeling he knew exactly what she was about to say.
“Madisyn, it’s late. Let’s talk tomorrow, okay?” he murmured, hoping to put off the conversation.
But Madisyn wasn’t having it. She shook her head and reached out, her fingers brushing against his cheek to stop him from avoiding the topic. “Honey, I know you’re worried about my health and don’t want another baby, but I really want to add to our little family. Trust me, I can handle a second birth.”
They talked deep into the night, but no matter how much Madisyn pleaded, Andrew didn’t give her the answer she wanted.
For the first time since their marriage, Andrew had refused her.
“Honey, please? Can’t we have another baby?”
When words failed to sway him, Madisyn resorted to a different tactic—clinging to him, her voice taking on a playful lilt as she tried to coax him.
Andrew felt her warm head nuzzling against his neck, her soft hair tickling his skin.
He let out a long sigh, pressing a large hand to the back of her head. “Madisyn, give me some time. Let me think it through, okay?”
Madisyn knew what that meant. It wasn’t happening tonight. She sighed internally. Andrew had been holding onto this stance for so long, and shifting his mindset wouldn’t be easy. Still, she nodded in reluctant agreement. “Okay. But, Andrew, don’t make me wait too long. I want an answer soon.”
“Alright,” Andrew said, gently urging her to sleep. Yet, even as Madisyn’s breathing evened out, Andrew lay awake, staring into the darkness, his thoughts running in endless circles.
An hour later, lulled by the quiet rhythm of Madisyn’s breath, he finally closed his eyes and drifted off as well.
