Chapter 31
Chapter 31
Michael’s son sat behind him and announced the names of the viewers who had offered the
gifts.
Michael then expressed his gratitude to the contributors.
He said excitedly, “You wouldn’t believe it! That woman seems delicate, but she’s surprisingly strong. The guards stopped her that morning when she tried to enter the center.
“They said she was carrying a bunch of unlicensed medication. Who would have thought that, despite her daytime assurances not to tamper with our medication, she would still go ahead and did it?
“Do you know Gisele is envious of Ms. McMillan? It’s because she feels inferior in her
medical skills.
“When Mr. Doug and I were coughing that day, she rushed to prove herself. But in doing so, she poisoned him, and I almost became her victim.”
His yellow teeth were visible when he spoke.
Then, he narrowed his eyes and took a drag of his cigarette behind the camera while spinning stories that mixed truth and lies.
Blending fact with fiction, he recounted his escape, and his eyes widened dramatically.
“I’ll have to save that story for tomorrow. I’m feeling traumatized and want to rest now. That’s all for today.”
During the one hour of live streaming, Michael had received gifts worth hundreds of
thousands of dollars.
He had even received private messages from viewers expressing doubts about the claims he had made during the livestream.
After Angie returned home and showered a dozen times, her once–fair skin turned red due to excessive scrubbing. Yet, she still felt unsatisfied.
She reached for her phone to distract herself, only to stumble upon Michael spreading rumors on a livestream.
“Damn it! Look at him, all poor and broke, yet still spreading lies!” She hastily reported him.
Feeling that wasn’t enough, she requested livestream videos from other netizens and reported it to the police.
She told them that Michael might be the one behind Collin’s death and was attempting to
frame Gisele.
“Officers, watch this video. How many victims do you think would talk like that? Michael must be hiding something. And if we talk about motives, he seems even more suspicious than Gisele.”
Angie analyzed the situation and said solemnly, “He must’ve been paid off to do this, which. is why he’s so desperate to blame it on Gisele.”
The police received Angie’s video and assured her, “Don’t worry, ma’am. We won’t falsely accuse anyone. We’ll thoroughly investigate this matter.”
“Thank you.”
After hanging up, Angie messaged Gisele and urged her to avoid reading the online rumors.
Unfortunately, it was already too late.
Gisele, who had slept all afternoon, hadn’t been able to sleep anymore, so she had borrowed a nurse’s phone.
As she scrolled through the latest news, her mind raced with potential suspects. Apart from Sierra, she couldn’t think of anyone else.
She even entertained the unsettling possibility that Sierra might be behind the burglars she had been attacked by in Jefferson Manor.
Also, Michael’s remark about the burglary incident lingered in her mind and only fueled her suspicions.
Just the memory of the incident caused Gisele to tremble uncontrollably.
Leaning against the headboard, she buried her face between her knees in the darkness.
As Gisele felt herself sl*p into despair, a familiar voice broke through the darkness. “Gigi?”
Gisele was taken aback. She raised her head with a bewildered expression.
Johnson flicked on the light, but its brightness stung her eyes. She instinctively shielded herself from the glare.
“Dinner time! Shall we head to the cafeteria together and then stroll in the garden?” His youthful and cheerful tone seemed to radiate boundless energy-
She stared at him as she recalled the nurse’s earlier words. As a former medical student, a twinge of guilt pricked at her conscience.
She nodded and replied hoarsely, “Okay.”
Johnson happily pushed the rented wheelchair inside the room. He gently assisted Gisele as she got out of bed. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Just as she was about to tell him she could manage on her own, a voice at the door interrupted them.
“Oh, I was worried you’d be lonely in here. Don, it looks like I was fretting for nothing.” “Oh, I was worried you’d be lonely in here. Don,
At that moment, Gisele’s hand rested on Johnson’s neck. She turned to see Dorian standing from the doorway.
His expression darkened, exuding negativity that made the others uneasy in his presence.
