Divorcing

Chapter 32

Chapter 32: The Victor

Chloe figured her words were enough to gross Lucy out. She didn’t expect Michael to back her up.

Michael heard her words and grinned. Then, he reached out towards her chest.

“Alright. Just don’t buy such tight clothes next time. They’re impractical.”

With a straight face, he effortlessly buttoned her up.

Chloe looked like she’d seen a ghost. She couldn’t believe the person who just spoke to her was Michael.

She thought, “Is this jerk plotting something against me again?”

Lucy’s face twisted into an uncontrollable grimace.

Michael turned to her. “Spit it out if you’ve got something to say.”

Lucy took a moment to compose herself before saying, “The engineering team wants to meet tomorrow. When are you free?”

Chloe was fed up with pretending to be in love with Michael. She came today to ask for a divorce. But with Lucy around, she couldn’t bring it up.

Chapter 32: The Victor

One reason is, it’s a private matter between her and Michael.

Chloe knew that if Lucy found out about her divorce with Michael, she’d have that smug, victorious look in her eyes.

Chloe hated that look, just like the one she and Wendy got at Charles‘ funeral.

Chloe stood up with a smile. “Since you’ve got work to do, I’ll head out. But seriously, think about my resignation!”

As Chloe brushed past Lucy, Lucy asked, “Chloe, why did you suddenly decide to quit?”

Chloe glanced back at her and gave a calm nod.

“My husband is super successful, and I’m just a flight attendant. Maybe I should quit and let him take care of me. I could do what any classy woman would: sip coffee and get my nails done all day.”

Lucy’s face twisted as if she’d just swallowed a bug.

Chloe raised an eyebrow, thinking, “I know these words are going to get under Lucy’s skin.”

Chloe was thrilled to see Lucy’s perfect composure crack just a bit.

She thought, “I’m the real Mrs. Shawn. Of course, I need to mess with Lucy.”

Chloe finished speaking, calmly left the office, and walked out of Paramount Airlines without looking back.

The office quickly emptied, leaving just two people behind.

Lucy plopped down in the chair across from Michael. “Michael, if you’ve got a flight tomorrow, I’ll chat with Engineering to set the meeting for after you land.”

She used work as an excuse just to spend more time with him.

“My flight to Nabitus leaves at 10 AM tomorrow and lands at 1:38 PM. I’ll be available for the meeting after that.”

Michael spoke softly, his fingers idly twirling as his mind drifted back to the unfinished business…

In his mind, Chloe had always been obedient and sweet since they got married.

Just now, her cat–like whimper nearly made Michael lose control.

If Lucy hadn’t walked in, Michael might have actually ended up in the next room on that big bed with Chloe.

“Hey Michael, wanna grab lunch together? The company cafeteria just opened a new spot. Everyone’s saying the food is pretty good.”

Lucy stared at the dishes Chloe had left on the table, her fingers. tightly clenched beneath it.

But she waited, and there was no reply.

“Hey, Mike?”
