CHAPTER 154: Officially Knox Hartley's Property
```text
Sloane's legs tremble. Her hands claw at my back. Her mouth falls open as her
body locks up, and then she shatters. She clamps down so hard and so deep that
I have to grit my teeth just to keep from losing it right then. The grip of her, the
way she's pulling me in like she never wants to let go-it's damn near impossible
to hold back.
And then, in the middle of it all, she breaks me. "I want your baby, Knox," she
says. "Fill me up."
That's it. That's the end of my control.
"Jesus," I growl, and everything unravels. I start slamming into her, hard, fast,
unhinged, driven by instinct and the sheer fucking need to give her exactly what
she just asked for.
My vision whites out. I empty myself inside her with a low, guttural sound I don't
recognize as my own. My thighs start to tingle. My hands shake where they're
braced against her skin. It's like my body forgets how to function, and all I can do
is feel.
I collapse on top of her, breathing heavily into the side of her neck, still deep
inside her. She's kissing me there softly. I don't move. I don't want to. I just stay
right there, surrounded by her, still wrapped up in the aftershocks.
The pool water laps against my arms and legs. Its warmth is just as comforting as
her skin under mine and her breath against my neck.
Eventually, I shift, careful not to crush her, and slide out, then settle beside her. Inoveldrama
lie back, taking one of her thighs and resting it on mine. We're both still breathing
hard, chests rising and falling in sync.
"We just got married," she says softly.
I turn my head to look at her. "Yeah. We just did."
"Oh, my God," she squeals. "We just got married."
I laugh. I love it when she makes those happy sounds. Fine, I love it when she
makes whatever sound. My hand slides to her thigh, tracing a slow line from her
knee upward until I reach where she's still wet and dripping.
"This is officially Knox Hartley's property," I say. "All of this is all mine."
Her eyes are bright as they stare into mine. "Of course it's yours. Do you know
what I want to do today?"
"Tell me."
"I want to gamble at a casino and lose big. I'm too happy right now. Need to
balance it out."
I laugh. "Your man's good for it. Go on. What else do you need? That can't be all."
"I want a couples massage. Want to sing off-key at karaoke. Ride the Ferris
wheel. Go everywhere."
I pull her close again, one hand resting at the small of her back, the other
brushing her damp hair out of her face. And then I kiss her.
Not the way I did earlier, not rough or rushed or messy. This one's slow. Soft. Just
warm lips on warm lips. She exhales into my mouth.
When we finally pull back, we're still close. Our foreheads nearly touch, and our
breaths mingle.
I ask, "Just Vegas? You don't have any other state or country in mind?"
She smiles, bringing her fingers to my face to play with the stubble on my jaw. "I
already told you where I want to go. After that? I don't care, Knox. Wherever you
are... that's where I want to be."
I comb my fingers through her wet hair, gently working through the strands, just so
I can keep touching her.
How does this woman have so much hold on me?
A few months ago, I was fine. Functional. I had my routine, my work, my walls
built up nice and high. Then she walked into my life and turned everything upside
down. Now I can't even take a shower without wanting her in there with me.
She tilts her head back, eyes closed. Her skin is flushed pink from the sun, and
there's something about the way she trusts me enough to be this vulnerable that
makes my chest ache.
Since she gave me that blank check,
promising to go wherever I go, I'm
going to show her the world. Every
corner. Every hidden place I've been
that she hasn't seen yet. Paris first,
maybe. Then Japan. That little
village in Italy where they make the
pasta by hand. The beaches in
Thailand where the water's so clear
you can see straight to the bottom.
I want to watch her face light up
when she sees the Northern Lights.
Want to hold her hand while we walk
through markets in Morocco,
breathing in spices and listening to
languages we don't understand.
Want to wake up next to her in a
dozen different beds in a dozen
different countries and see the way
morning light looks different
everywhere we go.
And then I'll do it all over again with our kids, if we have them.
There's absolutely nothing I want in the entire world more than this. More than
her. My bunny. The love of my life.
"We should probably go inside before we get sunburned," she says, stretching
without opening her eyes.
I smile at her even though she can't see my face. "Yeah, love. We should."
AUTHOR'S NOTE
Hi, lovelies. Thank you for walking this journey with me. Watching Knox and
Sloane come alive has been one of the greatest joys of my writing life, and I'm so
grateful you let them into your hearts.
Officially, this is the end of this book.
I know many of you are wondering
what comes next, what their future
looks like, how they raise their
family, and where all that chaotic,
messy relentless love leads them.
The good news is, one or two bonus
chapters will be included in the
published book this July, filled with
the kind of future I think they've
more than earned. So keep an eye
on my pages for updates and
release dates. It's coming soon.
And in Knox's voice-
I love you all, my bunnies.
