Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 1678

At this point, Erica's heavy bleeding was definitely a big red flag, and Fiona knew

it all too well. But there was no time for her to get lost in her thoughts.

"I'm going to change."

With that, Fiona headed to the sterilization room, quickly swapped into a fresh set of scrubs, and dashed into the emergency room.

There, a lead surgeon and an OB-GYN were already working on Erica. Normally, this kind of procedure wouldn't need so many specialists, but Erica wasn't just anyone. This situation was tangled up with the Woods family's past and, more importantly, with Jackson. Fiona couldn't just sit on the sidelines.

She took a quick look and deftly inserted a few acupuncture needles to stop the bleeding. But Erica's will to live was barely there. Fiona could only do her best to keep Erica hanging on; ultimately, her fate was up to her.

"If someone doesn't want to live, no matter how hard others try to save them, it's all for nothing."

"I know you can hear me," Fiona said, her voice steady after placing the last needle. "You can feel the little life inside you slipping away. But is this really what you want?" Her words cut right to the chase. "Your parents are so overbearing, and you have a younger brother. You've done so much, yet your parents don't give a damn about you. They'll see you as useless, unable to make it in the Reynolds family. Is holding onto this flimsy bond even worth it?"

Fiona's words hit home for Erica, sparking a faint reaction, even if it was weak. Still, any response was a glimmer of hope for Fiona.

Ever since she first met Erica's family in her office, Fiona had pegged their motives-money and security for the future.

And who was going to provide that safety net?

The person pulling the strings behind the scenes.

On her way to the hospital, Fiona had pieced together these possibilities, and

now, voicing them was just to validate her hunches.noveldrama

And it seemed she was spot on.

"From what I gather, your parents bolted from the hospital after you were wheeled into the emergency room. They might be out living it up with your brother right now, while you're here giving up on life. It's downright absurd."

Maybe Fiona's words fired up Erica because after the surgeon finished stitching her up and removed the lifeless baby, placing it on a tray, the heart monitor suddenly started showing a normal rhythm.

"Get her to recovery," Fiona instructed.

Turning on her heel, she left the emergency room. As she opened the door, she peeled off her scrubs and headed to her office, with the hospital director right behind her.

"When she wakes up, she might spill the beans."

"Ms. Fiona," the director called out,

still looking worried. He sighed, placing a phone in front of Fiona. "Our team lost track of Erica's parents. They vanished in a black car, and now there's a storm brewing online."

Fiona frowned, picking up the phone to take a look. Sure enough, the news was plastered with

scandalous stories about Allen's net

illegitimate child and sensational rumors involving Allen and a young cousin. It was all so sordid, like the media had run out of things to write about.

Fiona knitted her brows, feeling a wave of frustration at the relentless onslaught of

such drama.
