Goodbye, Mr. Regret

Chapter 164

Just then, Timothy's phone rang.

It was a call from Sallie.

The moment he answered, Sallie's voice exploded through the receiver. "Timothy, are you out of your mind? Why did you sell Mom's pearl necklace? If you didn't want it, you could have given it to me! What right do you have to sell Mom's keepsake?"

She was seconds away from outright screaming at him.

Timothy's lips pressed into a thin, bloodless line.

He'd been waiting all day, and now it made sense why Jessica hadn't come home.

She'd actually sold the necklace he'd given her.

Without another word, Timothy hung up on Sallie, rose to his feet, and strode straight out of the house.

Sheila and Henry arrived back just as he was leaving.

"Timothy."

"Dad."

They called out in unison.

But Timothy's face was thunderous, his expression cold as stone. He didn't even

look at them-he slammed the door behind him and was gone.

Henry raised his eyebrows. "What's up with Dad? Did something major just happen?"

Sheila had no clue.

She had rarely seen Timothy in such a foul mood.

It had to be something big.

She turned to Mabel. "Mabel, you're home all day. Any idea what got your boss so worked up?"

Truthfully, Mabel was just as baffled. He'd spent the whole day working from home, and now-right after the other woman reappeared-he'd stormed out.

It made no sense.

"I'm just the housekeeper. I don't know what goes on with him."

Mabel despised people who tore families apart. The lady of the house had always been so kind; even though the master wasn't around much, before Sheila showed up, everything was peaceful. The couple respected each other, and the home felt

warm.

Now that Sheila was here, the master lingered at home more often, but it no longer felt like home.

Henry squeezed Sheila's hand. "My dad gets like this a lot. Let's just ignore him. Didn't you say you wanted to learn how to make paper cutouts? Come on—I'll show you now."

Once outside, Timothy immediately called Secretary Allen. He instructed him to track down exactly how his mother's keepsake had ended up for sale.

After getting the details, Secretary Allen met up with Timothy, and together they headed to the luxury consignment shop.

Timothy waited in the car, letting Secretary Allen handle the negotiations.

A few minutes later, Allen returned. Timothy rolled down the window, and Allen hesitated before speaking. "The shop owner said a beautiful woman-mute, apparently-sold him the items. The pearl necklace and a brooch. He paid her six million for both."

Timothy's fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.

The nerve she had.

She'd dared to sell even his mother's keepsake.

And for a mere six million. She must be out of her mind.

That brooch—he'd chosen it for her himself. Clearly, it meant nothing to her.

What did she take him for?

"Buy them both back," Timothy said, his voice low but seething with anger.

Allen hurried off to retrieve the necklace and brooch.

He returned, uneasy, and handed them to Timothy.

This time, Timothy's fury truly boiled over.

"Have the company's lawyers freeze all assets in her name."

So-she wanted a divorce?noveldrama

During divorce negotiations, she had no right to sell off any shared property.

Her actions gave him more than enough reason to lock down her accounts.

She'd sold his mother's keepsake, sold his sincerity, and crossed a line he never thought she'd dare.

Jessica, meanwhile, had already fallen asleep, completely unaware that she'd just enraged Timothy beyond forgiveness.

The next morning.

When Jessica went to the hotel front desk to extend her stay, her bank card was declined.

She frowned, quickly typing a line on her phone to show the clerk: "What's going on? I was able to use this card just yesterday."
