Chapter 171
Yates paused mid-sentence.
"So what are we really watching for?" Kane, always a bit slow on the uptake, looked confused.
"We're waiting to see if Timothy actually cares about that so-called wife of his."
Kane burst out laughing. "Honestly, I doubt there's anything to see. You keep talking about waiting for fireworks, but I don't think this is going to catch fire at all." Yates raised an eyebrow. "Well, we'll find out soon enough once we're inside." Their whispered conversation didn't escape Sheila's notice. In fact, she was just as curious to know where Jessica really stood in Timothy's heart.noveldrama
Ever since that stormy night in the capital, she'd been uneasy. If, after all these years, Timothy had developed real feelings for Jessica, she couldn't afford to wait any longer.
That secret had to come out, and soon. It was the only way to clear the obstacle between her and Timothy.
Private Room V888.
Timothy pushed open the door.
At the sound, Vince and Jessica both looked up.
He stood tall and elegant at the threshold, the flicker of the dim lights casting shadows across his cold, expressionless features, making the air around him seem to drop a few degrees.
After a brief pause, he strode inside with the graceful confidence that always seemed to follow him.
Three others entered behind him.
Apart from Sheila, Jessica didn't recognize the other two men.
Timothy was the first to enter, and without a hint of hesitation, he took the seat right next to Jessica, lounging back against the sofa armrest with casual ease.
Seeing him again, Jessica felt her chest tighten-she could only think of how heartless and cold he'd been.
Vince, ever polite, greeted him. "Timothy, it's been a while."
Jessica's eyes widened in surprise. They knew each other?
Her heart sank, and her fingers curled tensely in her lap.
Vince was the man she'd met at the paper art studio-the one the shop owner had introduced.
That morning, after Timothy had frozen all her bank accounts and assets, Jessica had refused to give in. She'd contacted the studio owner, who'd driven her back to her childhood home. There, she'd gathered up her old paper-cutting artwork- some her grandmother had treasured, others her own.
Following the owner's advice, she'd picked out a few pieces in the style Vince wanted and brought them back to the city, desperate to sell them for some quick cash.
Thankfully, Vince was in a hurry to buy.
He'd told her he'd be meeting a client at the Red House lounge, and would be busy afterwards, so the only time to meet was after eight.
Now, here they were, negotiating a price.
She never expected Timothy to know Vince. Of course, he was here to ruin things for her again.
He really did want to cut off every last path she had.
Timothy's sharp eyes narrowed slightly, their gentle light hiding a certain edge. His voice was calm, but unmistakably displeased. "It has been a while, Vince. Funny, I didn't expect our reunion to begin with you making me unhappy."
Vince gave a careless smile, pulling a folder from his bag and handing it to
Timothy. "The joint energy project-take it. It's yours."
Kane stared in disbelief. "Vince, have you lost your mind?"
Everyone knew Vince and Timothy had fallen out years ago over that very project. Now Vince was simply handing it over?
Timothy didn't take the folder. His face grew colder, and the room fell into a tense silence.
What do you think?
