Her Heart Her Terms (Lily and Xavier)

"I'm not going," said Lily.

The light in Xavier's eyes dimmed. He narrowed his eyes slightly. "You're not? What are you trying to do?"

Lily hesitated. She was utterly confused. How did she end up as the unreasonable one when she was the one who'd found out about Xavier's affair and had grounds to get a divorce?

"I'm not trying to do anything. Whatever it is, I'm not "

A frigid expression came across Xavier's face. He cut her off, saying, "I wasn't asking for your opinion. I was informing you."

Then, he sat back down by the tea table, opened his laptop, and continued working.

Lily didn't reply. Could she actually be considering getting together with Terence? Xavier clenched his well-defined hands into tight fists. The conversation between Terence and Lily earlier replayed in his mind.

So, the reason why Lily rejected Terence so firmly wasn't because she wanted to reconcile with Xavier himself after finding out that it was a misunderstanding between him and Sarah.noveldrama

Rather, she was genuinely worried that she would cause Terence trouble. Was she thinking of getting this divorce completely settled before running to Terence's arms?

Frustratedly, Lily replied, "Xavier, could you be more reasonable?"

Xavier looked askance at her. Coldly, he questioned, "Who are you comparing me with?"

"I" Lily leapt to her feet. "That doesn't matter. You are the most unreasonable one of all!"

"Just accept your fate, then."

Xavier lowered his head and continued working on his laptop.

Lily went back to her hospital bed and sat down. Initially, she wanted to just ignore him and not give him any attention.

However, they were in the same room together. It was difficult for her to pretend that he wasn't around.

"When can I be discharged?"

Without looking up, Xavier answered, "December 22nd. The timing will be just right for me to take you back to Fulton Manor for Christmas."

That was in ten days!

Just the thought of it gave Lily a headache. "What's the update with my hand? Whether or not I will be able to make a recovery, I have a right to know about my injury, don't I?"

"You will be able to recover," Xavier blurted.

Right away, he added, "But you will have to work with the doctor on your treatment."

Other than the broken bone in her right hand, she had hurt her tendons too. While her bone healed, she wasn't allowed to move her hand.

After her bone healed, she would have to receive treatment for her damaged tendon. That would be an utterly arduous process.

Most importantly, no matter how painful the process might be, she wouldn't be able to make a full recovery.

The look in Xavier's eyes turned grim as he avoided looking at Lily.

Lily felt at ease after getting a definite response from Xavier. There was still hope as long as she was able to make a recovery.

Even though the conversation with Terence earlier had ended awkwardly, she still sent him a text out of courtesy, asking him for help with the Avelon Designs Competition.

Gloria had lent her a hand by giving he Lily felt deeply sorry about that.

Terence replied, "I have withdrawn you from the competition on your behalf, and I've also explained it all to Gloria She understands your situation and asked me to send her regards to you. She hopes that she'll be able to see you next time."

Next time... Lily couldn't be sure how long that might take.

Xavier stayed at the hospital over the next two days. He didn't say much. He simply kept himself busy with work, transforming the coffee table and the couch into his

temporary workspace.

It was as if that space and the hospital bed belonged in two completely different

worlds.

The Fultons sent meals to Lily three

times a day. Each time, they

included spoons for Lily's sake. She no longer heeded Xavier to feed her

and cleaned up after herself when she was done with her meals

Having only one functional hand slowed her down, but it didn't mean that she was completely incapacitated.

Through her actions, she wanted to prove to him that it would be better for them to live their lives separately instead of having her return with him to Fulton Manor.

When she clearly expressed her intentions, Xavier finally blew his top. He could no longer hold back his anger.

"The incident with Sarah is over. What else do you want?"
