Visiting her mom.
Gregory drove the car inside the building.
He gazed up at the hospital’s name and sighed.
“This nameless hospital?”he asked with a low scoff and went to park the car in the lots.
“It’s the only one I could afford. And, oh,, it’s a general hospital.”Beatrice replied with an underlying tone of anger.
She unstrapped the seatbelt and clicked the door opened then hopped out.
Gregory sighed before pulling the key out of the ignition hole.
“I didn’t meant it that way.”he said as he dropped down from the car also.
The less crowdy, the more they would be free from the reporters.
“Then, in which way did you mean to say it?. Let’s not argue right now, though.”she started walking to the premises.
He rolled his eyes before following her.
“Miss Beatrice?. Welcome. I was surprised when you didn’t show up yesterday. I’m glad you’re here now.”the nurse at the reception flashed out a bug smile at her.
“Something came up so I had to.. you know..”she have a slight shrug.
“Hope you’ve been able to resolve what came up though?.”
“Yeah, thanks.”
They moved away from the reception and as they were walking down the lobby, Gregory asked.
“So, no one recognizes me here?.”
She gave him a quick glance.
“In what way?. Good or bad?”
“Both. I am not looking to gather attention on myself but still, it still feels a little hurtful when those nurses at the reception didn’t recognize me. I was treated like an insignificant figure.”
She doesn’t know if he actually meant that or he was just trying to crack a joke.
But, she replied him, nevertheless.
“This is a general hospital. Only few people are around today because it’s Sunday, and we are still in the morning, which means some might have gone to church to pray for the quick recovery of their loved ones. Also, I bet the nurses were just too busy that they didn’t get time to watch TV nor get themselves involved in all.. these news about you rich people. Also, I don’t think they took a good look at you.”she explained.
“I don’t care though.”he raised his shoulders up in a shrug.
She stopped walking and turned to him.
“If you didn’t care, then, why ask?”she wore a frown.
He scratched the back of his neck and giggled.
“I don’t know, but it just felt good to hear you talking on.”
He walked forward and she fasten her steps to him.
“And, here we are.”she stopped when they got to a ward.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Gregory’s looked at the number tag on the door and scoffs.
“You mean to say that your mom will have to wait for the doctor to attend to ninety peoples before coming to check up on her?”
“Well, not exactly. There are many doctors and nurses here so it is not a one man’s job.”she replied before whacking the door opened and going in.
Gregory took a deep sigh and as he made to go in, his phone rang in his pocket.
He paused and brought it out.
It was a call from Harry.
He took few miles away from the room before picking up the call.
“Hey?”
“Congratulations on finding your true love, Gregory. But, I must tell you that pressure has started coming in.”Harry broke the news.
Gregory’s eyebrows hitched up in a perplexed state.
“Can.. you make yourself clearer a bit?”
“The.. so, the board of directors in both your company and your dad’s wants you to get married to show your devotion.”
“You not coming?”Beatrice popped her head out of the room and asks.
“Be down in thirty minutes.”he said to her before going back.
She scoffed with an eye roll then shuts the door.
What a total jerk.
She moved towards where her mother was on the bed and breathed out heavily.
The electronic vital sign monitor beeps, its sound echoing in the room.
A mechanic ventilators mask was placed on her nose down to her mouth.
Beatrice crashed down on the chair before her.
It looks like she was getting a good sleep and she is not ready to disrupt that.
She checks the time on the wall clock before taking her mom’s hand in her’s.
She is suffering from heart diseases.
She felt dejected, seeing her in that state.
“Mom, you will be fine.”she sniffed in, deciding to be strong for her.
“I.. I’ve got a job and I can now pay for your surgery. I will save you.”she squalled up.
She stood up to adjust the nylon cap on her mom’s head.
“You have to be strong too, mom. Fight and get through this disease.. for me.”she placed a soft peck on her forehead.
The door opened and the doctor stepped in.
“Miss Beatrice!”he called sharply.
“Good morning, doc.”she turned to him.
“Nothing is not so good in the morning. I’m tired of the smell of blood and water, drugs.. ugh.. now, that was a joke. Hahaha.”he laughed.
She laughed alongside him even though her laughter was not genuine.
“That’s what keeps me going, all those smell. Hahaha.”he laughed again.
Well, this doctor is one weird man.
He always laugh at his own jokes himself as she’d never find those jokes funny at all.
“You’re here for your mom?. Well, I just need to check if everything is okay with her, then I would leave after that.”he sauntered to the monitor and studied it for some moments before bringing out his jotter and scribbled something down on it.
He moved to where her mom was and pulled up the skin on her eyes, beaming a soft light from a small torch in her pupils.
“So far, we good. Miss Beatrice?”he called urgently without giving her a stare.
“Uhm?”she blinked.
“I wish you the very best on this beautiful Sunday. Have a blissful day.”he spun around.
Okay.. this doctor would definitely give her an heart attack one day.
“I will come to see you in your office on my way out to settle the surgery bills.”
“That’s a good one.”he nodded fastly.
“Do you want me to remove the mask from her mouth so you both would talk better?”he asked.
“But she is not awake yet.”
“Oh, I thought I saw a pair of human’s eyes back then. Hahahaha. I must have been hallucinating.”he howled up in a hearty laughter.
He has always acts as someone who had inhaled too much laughing gas.
Beatrice looked over at her mom and her eyes widened when she saw her eyes slowly opened.
“Mom!”she called tearfully.
“You could call me a pastor. My prophecy was right.”he giggled before moving to her mom and removing the mask off her nose, connecting a nasal pipe then dropped it under her nose.
“Mom, you’re finally awake.”Beatrice clamped her hands over her mouth in excitement.
Annabella turned to look at her and let’s out a frail chuckle.
“Did I die?, for a moment?”
