Chapter 846 The Appointment Is for Me
Chapter 846 The Appointment Is for Me
Emily scoffed. "I've heard of private hospitals ripping off their patients, but I've never heard of part- time scams. This is ridiculous.”
Chloe remained expressionless. Her delicate and beautiful face turned serious, making her look quite intimidating. She had only intended to spend some money. Little did she know that they would make a complete mockery out of her.
"I do have 150 thousand dollars, but words are just words. You haven't presented any evidence of wrongdoing, so why should I pay you?" she said as she glanced at the time on her phone. "Here's the deal. I know that medical equipment is costly, so let’s call the police to determine if this is a scam or not. I don't mind solving this through legal or private means."
"Sure, no problem," the doctor readily said and squinted at the hospital Dean with a sly grin. "Let’s call the police right now. I was starting to worry about the hospital's profit for the month. A fat sheep coming to us for the slaughter sure is a welcome sight."
The doctor stared at Chloe, swallowing his saliva as he anticipated the prospect of getting both money and pleasure out of this situation. After all, even the wealthiest individuals feared getting involved with the police. Chloe was young and wealthy, and he assumed she was someone's mistress. If things escalated, she would probably get scared.
Chloe picked up her coffee, pondering whether she should contact someone too. She recalled the Sullivans having some connections within the police station.
"Leave it to me," Joseph said, his voice turning chilly as he smirked condescendingly. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
"Yes, let's leave it to Daddy. He and I will protect you,” Jasper said with determination as he patted Chloe’s back earnestly in consolation.
Chloe smiled and nodded as her heart filled with warmth. She sighed inwardly, imagining how wonderful it would be if Jasper were her child. Having a child with such good looks, emotional intelligence, and smarts would be like winning the jackpot.
Joseph, whom Chloe ignored, took a deep breath and gazed at her with a smile that did not quite reach his eyes. He wanted her to see that Jasper was all talk. When push came to shove, it was he who took action.
Why could she not look at him instead? Did he really become less attractive because he was older now?
Joseph's handsome face darkened slightly, and he sent a text message to Lucas.
[Book me a maintenance appointment.]
[Sure, Mr. Joseph. May I ask which car you're bringing in for maintenance?]
[The appointment is for me.]
Lucas rubbed his eyes and read the words on his computer screen over and over to make sure he was not mistaken.
'Mr. Joseph wants to schedule maintenance for himself? I'm not dreaming, am I?'

Fifteen minutes later, a group of police arrived at the fried chicken joint.
The leader of the group and the sleazy doctor looked somewhat alike. Chloe instantly understood why he dared to call the police. Turns out it was the whole family committing crimes together.
'Hmmm... Law enforcement shields fraudsters and engages in unlawful acts themselves. What's the appropriate punishment for this?' she thought.
"Uncle, there was trouble at the hospital. You have to help us."
"What's going on?"
"These people caused trouble at the hospital. I kindly offered to treat them, but they attacked me."
"Miss, do you want to solve this legally or privately?"
"You haven't even taken statements from both sides and you're already making a judgment? Who taught you to do this?" A casually dressed Tyson slapped the middle-aged man who had spoken.
"No... That's not what I meant." The man's thoughts raced, and he glanced at Joseph before looking at Chloe. He immediately changed his approach and yelled at the sleazy man, "How many times have I told you to not ask me to cover up for you? You will face the consequences of your actions. Apologize to this lady now!"
