Love At The Wrong Table

Chapter 2286 International Conflict

The two fighters exchanged five moves in a row.

Each blow surprised the audience. They struck each other fiercely with deadly blows, yet their exchange amazed the crowd.

One was destructive but aesthetically pleasing while the other moved as smooth as flowing water.

After Zen Master distanced himself from Yorick, he activated his unique skill. He flicked his fingers, sending bullet–like energy waves at Yorick.

His precision in molding his internal strength into weapons made countless martial artists green with envy.

It was no exaggeration to say having him on the battlefield would result in the death of countless enemies.

However, Yorick was like an impenetrable fortress. No matter how hard Zen Master tried, his attack was futile.

“The strongest spear meets the strongest shield.” Wendy couldn’t help but sigh with Ethan exhaling a deep breath next to her.

As the Prime Minister, his heart always sided with Chanaea, and his attention was always on the global stage.

Today’s battle had been hyped up for too long. Now, not only Chanaeans and Shoiyans were watching, but the whole world was eager to see the result.

Although martial arts skills weren’t crucial in modern warfare, losing to Yorick would be globally perceived as Shoiya defeating Chanaea when the whole world was paying attention to the matter.

They would remember nothing else but Chanaea’s defeat.

As a result, Chanaea’s morale would suffer an immeasurable blow. More Chanaeans would think of immigrating to Shoiya. They would even sing praises of Shoiya and belittle Chanaea.

Their national integrity would suffer a severe, even devastating blow, which was extremely unfavorable for the imminent war.

Chester watched the battle unfold in tension.

While others might see it as a battle between the strongest spear and the strongest shield, they overlooked that both parties were incredibly talented in multiple fields.

Zen Master’s defense or Yorick’s strength and agility were among the top in today’s world.

Chester was confident nobody stood a chance against any of the two in a fight.

The prolonged fight drained Zen Master. The lanky man was covered in sweat, but his attacks became fiercer over time. He knew discovering the Golden Bell’s weakness was the only way to defeat his oppone… Otherwise, no matter how experienced he was, he couldn’t harm Yorick.

Back then, he only found Yorick’s weak spot and finished him in one go with the intelligence provided by Jane and the Six Grandmasters‘ assistance.

Now, he was the only one standing to face the enemy. Defeating Yorick was an uphill battle.

Finished

What should I do? Uneasiness gnawed at Zen Master’s anxious mind. He shared the same worry as Ethan.

After seven of the Eight Supreme Grandmasters had been defeated, he couldn’t afford to lose the battle.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel and Mackenzie led a group up the mountain in off–road vehicles.

Unfortunately, there was no travelable road ahead and the vehicles couldn’t take them any further.

The group had no choice but to abandon the vehicle and continue on foot.

“Emmanuel, go! Don’t worry about us.” She understood the urgency of the situation.

Ethan was still in danger. If nobody replaced Zen Master after Yorick defeated him, Chanaea’s Martial World would bring Chanaca down together when the Shoiyans gloated over their victory.

She would rather avoid seeing its impact on national integrity.

Before he could respond, Beatrix called out, “Emmanuel, Mackenzie! We found some horses over there! Let’s take them!”

The pair turned to her and saw her standing near a herd of horses.

“Thanks!” Emmanuel didn’t hesitate. He immediately wrapped an arm around Mackenzie’s waist and hopped onto a horse before galloping away.

“Hey! Those are my horses!” the horse owner screamed in horror.

“Consider them sold. The others will pay you!” Beatrix swiftly mounted a horse and rode off.

Members of noble families like her were skilled equestrians.

Frederick was left stunned as he couldn’t ride a horse.

Before he could turn to Shane for help, his friend, as expected, once again abandoned him during a critical moment and galloped away on the same horse as Sonia.

Shortly after, Angela and the others followed suit, riding off on horseback.

“Hey, come back!” The stable owner couldn’t believe his eyes. They promised they would pay, yet nobody did that! Those liars just ran away with my horses!

Frederick was the only person who remained in the stables. He sighed in resignation when he felt the intense gaze of the owner and employees on him. Why am I always the one who cleans up their mess?

Due to the urgency of the matter, Emmanuel lacked the bandwidth to pay attention to his friends. His steed galloped up the mountain at top speed.

Suddenly, a message on the tactical radio reached him.

A communication device with a strong signal booster was specifically distributed in the Northern Region, allowing the soldiers to receive radio signals even in the mountains.

His subordinate reported, “Commander Lowe, we have a serious problem in the East Sea. The warship of Shoiva deliberately collided with ours. Although both sides restrained themselves from firing. it caused

significant casualties. Commander Adkins will personally meet up with the Shoiyans for an urgent meeting.”

“What?” Upon hearing this news, Emmanuel yelped in surprise.

Santiago had talked to him, mentioning that the occurring domestic and international conflicts were linked. He suspected Shoiya’s deliberate provocation had to do with the political conflict in Chanaca.

“The Shoiyans are cunning. You must remind Commander Adkins to stay alert.” He ordered, “He’s the pillar of the Northern Region, and nothing must happen to him!”

“Yes, Commander Lowe!” The soldier on the other end added, “Commander Adkins also reminds you to keep Mr. Hale safe and stabilize Chanaea’s situation. It’s your top priority now.”

“I will.”

After the call ended, Emmanuel’s brows knitted deeper.

He was trapped between external threats and internal troubles. He knew one misstep could lead to Chanaea’s downfall.

Meanwhile, on the mountaintop, although the fight continued, the odds were in Yorick’s favor.

He wasn’t in a hurry to attack. Instead, he enjoyed watching Zen Master suffer like a cat toying with a mouse before devouring it.

Zen Master tried every means to find Yorick’s weak spot, only to wear himself out. His breathing quickened, and he struck slower.

“Blake, you need to come up with a solution to help Zen Master!” Hattie’s cries of plea rang out.

“Are you serious?” Her request surprised Blake. “Although Yorick isn’t a good brother, we are still blood- related. Are you asking me to betray him for the old geezer? Why should I?”

“Why not?” Nathan immediately followed Hattie’s example in pressuring Blake. “We are good people. You should contribute to creating a better world.”

Blake wasn’t convinced. He shook his head and laughed mirthlessly. “Look at me. Do I look or behave like a good person? Don’t take me as a fool.”

“How about doing it for the sake of our friendship?” Hattie firmly stated, “Consider it a gesture to help a friend in need.”

Her words struck a nerve and made him tremble. He hesitated, remembering she had been nothing but kind to him. He even planned to give her money to live a peaceful life after the dust settled.

“Blake, you betrayed Freya and helped us on Dark Night Islands last time. You can always do it again.” Aurora joined the persuasion, making him even more torn.
