Chapter 588 He Would Kill Her
Chapter 588 He Would Kill Her
Soon, it was four in the evening.
Having achieved her goal, Chanel said, “I’ll be going home for now, okay?”
She had purposely idled the time away until this hour before dropping by Damien’s place. She only
wanted to delay things so that it would be late enough for him to offer her to stay overnight.
Just then, Damien snapped out of his musings. He checked the time and said, “It’s past four. It’ll be
night by the time you reach Florin, and it won’t be safe for a woman to be alone.”
Chanel’s mind was running. She was thinking about how she should pretend to politely reject but find a
way to stay should Damien invite her to spend the night.
“I’ll get the driver to take you home,” Damien finished.
He was already calling the driver.
Chanel was speechless. She gritted her teeth tightly, seething in silence.
“But it’s so late now. It won’t be safe for the driver either,” Chanel said after Damien hung up.
“It’s fine. He’ll stay at a hotel.”
Chanel had nothing to say to that.
Twenty minutes later, the driver arrived. He called Damien to say that he had parked outside.
Damien walked Chanel to the car.
His hands were in his pockets as he stood politely by the door. After the car left, Damien didn’t spend
any more time waiting. He went back into the house.
He went upstairs. As he did, thoughts of killing Clarissa if she was pregnant with that man’s spawn
filled his mind.
He was both regretful of having told Clarissa that he had married, and that he hadn’t actually married
Chanel. Now, he was stuck between two extremes. This was really unlike him.
Clarissa was absent for the next meeting at New East Corporation as usual.
She had given the same excuse to Director Jones, saying that she wasn’t feeling well.
This time, Damien didn’t force her to come. However, his gaze kept flitting to her empty seat during the
meeting.
He kept playing with a pencil. As he twirled the pencil, it dropped to the ground.
Now, he rarely had business trips to Florin. If there was something to handle, he would send Ray in his
stead.
Today, he wanted to go and see Clarissa.
Therefore, he drove over to Clarissa’s house after work.
He wanted to ask who the baby belonged to. He had also heard that Clarissa had been having terrible
morning sickness.
He knocked on the door.
Cautiously, Clarissa asked, “Who is it?”
“It’s me!” Damien had an inferno raging within him. It was suffocating to not let his temper out.
“You should go,” Clarissa said, leaning against the door. “You’re married, after all. This isn’t a good
look.”
The mysterious feel Clarissa was going for made Damien’s heart stutter. Yet, he was also deathly
annoyed. He nearly grabbed Clarissa’s head and slammed against the door.
However, this was the University of Genovia. Just like the University of Florin, everyone knew who they
were.
…
A few days later, Bethany received a Whatsapp message from Caleb.
Caleb: [Dr. Beth, can you visit my mother for me, please?]
When Bethany got this message, she was both confused and excited.
She wondered why Caleb would suddenly send her such a text. If he wanted to know about his
mother’s condition, he could have asked anyone about it. He could also have a video call with his
mother. Why did she have to visit her for him?
Without thinking about it, Bethany made a video call to Caleb.
When it went through, the screen showed a man lying in bed.
Although Bethany seemed very personable, she actually had a short fuse. Caleb wasn’t wearing a
shirt. His brown skin made Bethany nearly start drooling, suddenly wanting to climb him like a tree. His
abs were well-defined from his athletics, and he had an excellent physique. He was young, too. His
handsome youthfulness made Bethany go wild.
It was obvious that Caleb had accidentally accepted Bethany’s call while he was using his phone. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Since he had answered, it felt rude to hang up now. Caught unawares, his features were frozen slightly.
“Dr. Beth,” he greeted.
“What’s the matter?” Luckily, Bethany was wearing a face mask, so she looked solemn rather than
lovestruck.
“I got hurt during practice.”
