Love’s Final Reveal

Chapter 29

Upon reaching the dining room, Lola was then placed in a chait.

She asked, “What’s the matter, Mr. Sinclair? You can’t even spare a pair of shoes for me now?”

With that, Lola looked up at Dominick, who was standing before her, and was puzzled by his reason for taking her shoes away

“Your foot was already injured, and staying in the sea for too long caused the wound to become inflamed. It’s not wise for you to wear shoes now. Tell me if you want to do anything, and carry you,” Dominick explained as he stood to the side. After explaining, he surprisingly handed her a cell phone.

Lola stared at the phone in front of her and was momentarily taken aback.

“I’ll go make breakfast. You play with the phone for a while,” Dominick said before heading to the kitchen.

After watching him walk into the kitchen, Lola’s gaze settled back on the phone, and she hesitated before picking it up.

The cell phone was unlocked. Its black interface was mostly filled with work–related apps, among which a game awkwardly mixed in. It was a game Lola had played at an auction event before. She didn’t know whether its presence was a coincidence or if Dominick had downloaded it intentionally.

However, Lola didn’t rush to open the game but instead dialed Ethan’s number.

Initially, she just wanted to try, but to her surprise, the call miraculously went through. After two rings, it was rejected. Lola then nervously glanced toward the kitchen and dialed Ethan’s number

again.

This time, the call was answered,

Ethan asked, “Hello!”

Lola glanced toward the kitchen and whispered, “I’m Lola.”

Ethan seemed surprised on the other end of the call and quickly asked, “Layla, where are you? Are you okay?”

I’m on an unknown small island, I’m fine!” Lola replied.

Just then, Dominick walked out of the kitchen while carrying two dishes. Lola had no time to say more and immediately hung up. She then quickly dicked open the game and started playing. Dominick placed the dishes on the table, glanced at her playing the game, and turned back to the kitchen.

Upon seeing that he hadn’t grown suspicious, Lola hurriedly clicked back to the call log, intending to erase it. But before she could, the phone suddenly displayed Jessica’s caller ID.

At that moment, the monotonous ringtone of the cell phone echoed in the dining room.

Lola stared at the name on the screen, looked toward the kitchen where Dominick was, and slid the answer button.

“Dominick, where are you? I’m so scared…” Jessica’s weak, tearful voice came through the phone, instantly evoking sympathy.

Lola’s expression gradually turned cold, and an eerie smile formed on her lips as she slowly said, “This is Lola.”

Jessica’s voice abruptly stopped. As if restraining inimese anger, her voice changed from weak and tender to resentful.

She asked, “How come Dominick’s phone is with you? Do you think, just because he’s with you now, he has feelings for you, Lola? Dominick has always loved me, and I’ve always been the one in his heart. Him being with you now is just out of a man’s possessiveness, nothing more.”

“Oh, is that so?” Lola chuckled indifferently.

Regardless of why Dominick had brought her to this unknown island or why he was holding her captive, and whether his actions over the past few were genuine or pretentious, she didn’t care.

“You don’t know yet, do you?” Jessica’s voice came through the phone again, filled with a sense of triumph and provocation. “Even though your Mr. Lewis has attacked the Moore Group, causing significant losses to it, Dominick has personally had someone inject six billion dollars into the Moore Group. He did all this for me. Now, the Moore Group has turned the corner. Everything you’ve done has been in vain.” Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Even though Lola had previously heard Dominick instructing Henry to personally invest in the Moore Group, hearing it from Jessica still made her foot uncomfortable..

Just as Lola was about to say something, she saw Dominick coming out with the dishes. The words she was about to speak remained unspoken as Jessica’s voice continued to emanate from the phone.

Jéssica declared, “Lola, Dominick has loved me all along for the past t two years, and he still does now.”

Upon seeing Lola on the phone, Dominick just glanced at her without much concem. He picked up a bowl an

and served her some soup.

Jessica continued, “You don’t belong to our world, Lola. Not only are you not fit to be the CEO’s wile of the Sinclair Group, Mrs. Sinclair, but even in the Mitchell family, you are nothing more than an abandoned foster daughter..

“Jessica, it was you who arranged for me to be taken away twice two years ago, leading me to the point where I was forced to jump off a cliff, wasn’t it?” Lola interjected calmly. Although she was speaking to Jessica, her gaze was fixed firmly on Dominick

Upon hearing Lola mention the events from two years ago, he paused and worriedly looked at her. Recalling Jay’s advice that she shouldn’t be agitated right now and fearing that memories of the past might destabilize her emotions, Dominick reached out to her,

Jessica defensively replied, “Lola, you must have forgotten. When you were taken away, I had just miscarried. Dominick was by my side the whole time. How could I have orchestrated that?”

Lola chuckled as she glanced at Dominick’s extended hand and passed him the phone. Suddenly, she loosened her grip, causing the phone to drop heavily into the soup bowl. While Jessica was still talking the phone’s screen flickered and then went dark, cutting off Jessica’s voice abruptly.

“Opps, my hand slipped,” Lola said coolly, picked up the remaining small bowl of soup, and began to drink.

Dominick glanced at the soup with a phone soaking in it and didn’t say a word. He calmly withdrew his hand, stood up, and carried the soup bowl back

to the kitchen.

Lola took a few sips of the soup, locked up at the figure in the kitchen, and then lowered her gaze to the dishes on the table. The dishes seemed to have been prepared in advance. They were just heated in the microwave before being served on the table. They were simple homemade dishes but

surprisingly tasty.

Perhaps because she had contacted Ethan or because Dominick wasn’t around, Lola found herself in an unusually good mood, eating more of each dish. She thought, “With the Lewis family’s influence, it shouldn’t be difficult for Ethan to find this small island where Dominick is holding me captive.

The soup was delicious, apparently simmered for a long time, but there was a little less than she would have liked.

Just as Lola was thinking about that, Dominick came out again with another bowl of soup.

This bowl was much smaller than the previous one, but the soup

p inside looked no different, enough for only one serving

Lola glanced at it and looked up at Dominick in front other

“Dominick, you didn’t just fetch out the phone and serve the soup again, did you?” she asked.

Dominick, who was serving the soup, looked back at Lola upon hearing her question.

Since arriving on the island, Lola rarely called him by his name, and if she did, it was with a face full of hatred. This was the first time she had called him “Dominick” in such a questioning but tender the Dominick momentarily felt as if the old Lola had returned.

“Wasting food is shamefull” Dominick replied as he smiled faintly.

Lola lifted the soup bowl and took a sip. She felt that although he might be thoughtless, he surely wouldn’t be so disgraceful
