Marrying the Man in the Dark

Chapter 1214

Chapter 1214 Sibling Revelations

Lennon pondered quietly to himself: I wonder how she's faring now...

The news of Anthony's incarceration sent shockwaves through Yatesville and reached Maeve in Adania.

Without delay, Maeve dialed Damien, her voice urgent, "Dame, aren't you in Yatesville? You were asking about Uncle Anthony a couple of days back, and now he's been arrested!"

"Are you aware of what happened?"

Damien's smirk was faint but unmistakable as he replied, "Yes, I'm aware... I was the one who personally ensured he was taken in."

Maeve's eyes widened in disbelief. She swiftly passed by Charles and the children, heading upstairs. "But why? I always knew Uncle Anthony as a kind- hearted individual."

"His fake exterior fooled you," Damien replied evenly.

With a light sigh, Damien continued, "I'll have Otto send you the details of Anthony's activities over the years."

"Also..." Damien's voice faltered as he gazed towards the hospital garden, where Colin gently guided Lucy's wheelchair along a path lined with blooming daisies. A subtle smile graced his lips as he turned his attention back to the phone.

"Maeve, brace yourself to meet your second younger brother."

From the balcony of the Lenoir family home back in Adania, Maeve furrowed her brow. "Second younger brother?"

"What do you mean? Mom and Dad have both been gone for so long now. Where would another brother come from?"

"He's my twin," Damien disclosed softly.

Damien sighed softly, his gaze lingering on the tranquil scene unfolding in the hospital courtyard below. Beyond the sterile corridors and bustling wards lay a small oasis, a sanctuary for patients and their families.

In that serene space, Colin gently pushed Lucy's wheelchair along a winding path, their laughter mingling with the gentle chatter of Mandy beside them. Cherise trailed a few steps behind, her expression contemplative, lost in her own thoughts. Damien understood the source of her concern- the man who had selflessly donated his liver to save Lucy. Cherise, his beloved Cherry, ever the angel in his eyes.

"Twin? You have a twin brother?!" Maeve's voice on the phone skyrocketed in disbelief. "That's impossible!"

"I remember vividly the day you were born! There was only one son!" Her tone was incredulous.

"Back then, Uncle Raymond assured me at the time that my younger brother was born with no health complications..." Maeve persisted.

A soft chuckle escaped Damien's lips. "Uncle Raymond and Uncle Anthony were the ones who kidnapped our brother."

"It's quite a tale. I'll explain everything in detail when I return in a few days."

Maeve paused briefly, then acquiesced with a nod. "Alright."

"Make sure you all return soon," she added softly.

Impatience gnawed at her as Maeve couldn't bear the wait much longer. Lately, her body had been sending troubling signals, reminding her of its frailty. The doctor had emphasized that surviving to see Marcy's birth and living to this day was already a miraculous feat.

"Noted," Damien replied, his voice tinged with understanding.

He sighed heavily. "I'll return as swiftly as I can."

However, Damien didn't disclose to Maeve that Lennon's recovery needed to come first before he could leave.noveldrama

After ending the call with Maeve, Damien turned and headed towards the hospital's third floor.

At the far end of that corridor was a man who had fabricated the source of his injury.

Despite having undergone a major surgical operation involving a liver transplant, he had misled everyone into believing his injury stemmed from being stabbed by a criminal.

"How's it going? Everything alright?"

Upon seeing the tall figure enter the room, Lennon straightened against the hospital bed, a faint smile gracing his pale complexion. "So, has Collin agreed to return to the Lenoir manor alongside you?"

Damien acknowledged with a silent nod, his form casting a casual silhouette against the moonlit window as he leaned into the sill, cigarette aglow between his fingers.

Lennon's voice cut through the quiet room, laced with both amusement and skepticism. "You still have the guts to smoke in front of a patient like me, Damien? You're tempting fate."

A sigh escaped Lennon's lips, his expression momentarily troubled before he continued softly, "Violet has taken care of the arrangements."

"In three days, we're returning to Adania for our wedding," Lennon declared with a gravity.

"In a bid for romance, I've arranged for the ceremony to be aboard a cruise ship," Lennon disclosed further.

"It took some persuading to keep the guest list clear of family and friends," he added with a faint smile.

Damien exhaled a cloud of smoke, his gaze fixed thoughtfully on the ember of his cigarette. "How did you get them all on board with your idea?"
