Chapter 247
Everett's hand was just about to touch Selena's when his phone blared to life, cutting through the moment like a cold shower.
Everett paused, giving Selena the chance to gently push him away. "Everett, who's calling at this hour? Is it something urgent? You'd better pick it up."
It was barely past six in the morning-definitely not the usual time for calls.
With a slight hesitation, Everett released Selena and headed out of the room.
Only when he was out of sight did the tension in Selena's chest start to ease. That was close... too close.
Afraid that Everett might unexpectedly return, Selena quickly grabbed a few facial wipes and wrapped up the pregnancy test before tossing it in the trash. To be extra cautious, she threw in some perfume and shower gel bottles on top, hoping to cover her tracks. Everett was a stickler for cleanliness, so she doubted he'd dig through the trash.
Leaning against the wall, she took a few deep breaths. Once the guilt and nerves subsided, she stepped out of the room.
Everett had just hung up the call and turned to face her. "Selena, I've got to head to the office for a meeting. If you're still not feeling well, I can have a doctor drop by."
He had planned to stay home with her, but an issue at K Corporation demanded his immediate attention.
"No need," Selena replied, walking over to him. Her composure was back, and she wrapped her arms around his neck, putting on her best caring-wife act. "You go handle your business. I'll just take a nap and be fine."
Everett, unable to resist, wrapped his arms around her waist, peppering her with kisses. "I suddenly don't want to leave," he murmured, his hands starting to wander.
Selena playfully slapped his hand away. "Mr. Everett, if you don't get

Ever since they'd patched things up, Everett had been going into work late with suspicious marks on his neck and a noticeably improved mood. Everyone at the office had pieced things together.
The rumors eventually reached Selena, painting her as some kind of enchantress who had bewitched Everett, a man previously thought immune to such earthly distractions. If only they knew-Everett was the one with the charm!
Annoyed at being interrupted, Everett gave her a playful nip on the lip before letting her go. "Help me pick out an outfit."
Back in the day, she'd jump at any chance to do something for him. Now, it seemed he was the one who couldn't get enough of her, wanting her to handle everything personally.
Last time Ava had tidied up his closet, he'd returned in a huff, scaring poor Ava half to death. Only after Selena had reorganized it did his mood improve.
Right now, though, Selena just wanted to get him out the door.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Expertly, she picked out a suit, helped him into it, and then stood on her tiptoes to knot his tie.
"There you go, Your Majesty. How does it look? Happy with it?" she teased, a hint of irritation in her voice.
Everett glanced at the mirror, admiring his perfectly styled suit. With everything in place after her touch, he nodded in satisfaction.
He looked down at Selena, the woman he had shaped to be his perfect match, and felt a surge of contentment.
Tipping her chin up with his long fingers, he whispered in a low, suggestive voice, "You did well. Wait for me tonight for your reward."
