Chapter 886
Abraham's face barely changed, his tone as indifferent as ever.
"Get rid of it."
Those four words were delivered with such calm detachment, as if the child had nothing to do with him at all.
Mallie knew Abraham didn't have feelings for her, much less for her baby, but she was a woman hopelessly in love. She always hoped she held a special place in his heart, even if it was just a tiny corner.
Even a shred of compassion would have been enough.
With tears in her eyes, Mallie got up and knelt before Abraham, her voice filled with desperation.
"Mr. Abraham, my health isn't great. If I terminate this pregnancy, I might never get another chance to be a mother. Please, let me keep this child. I promise I won't ask anything more from you. I'll be obedient, just hoping you'll visit us once in a while. I'm begging you."
Abraham didn't say a word. He leisurely finished his breakfast, wiped his lips with a napkin, and then finally let his dark eyes meet Mallie's.
He lightly placed a hand on her shoulder, his gaze icy. "Mallie, you've always been the most sensible and obedient among all my lovers, and I've always liked you best. Find a time to deal with the pregnancy. Don't let me down."
His voice was almost gentle.
But Mallie couldn't stop shivering.
Having been with Abraham for so many years, she knew his temperament all too well. When he spoke so gently, it didn't mean he was negotiating. Rather, if she dared to say no, she would face dire consequences.
She closed her eyes weakly.
"I understand, Mr. Abraham."
Abraham smiled with satisfaction, stood up, and walked away.
Mallie collapsed to the floor, feeling a chill deep in her bones, unable to find any warmth no matter how tightly she hugged herself.
Sunset Bay.
When Selena woke up, the sunlight outside was bright and warm.
She sat up slowly, realizing she had slept on the sofa in the study, covered with a blanket, still a bit groggy.
Last night, she had been reviewing documents and was so exhausted she had fallen asleep at her desk.
Yes, there were still important documents to finish, and there was a meeting today...
Oh no!
Selena jumped up, nearly diving toward her desk.
But then she froze.
The messy stack of papers was now neatly organized, with the
itop.
documents she needed right on,
As she flipped them open, she was taken aback.
All her questions were marked with sticky notes, filled with annotations that answered her queries.
The handwriting was bold and decisive-it was definitely Everett's.
She flipped through the other documents; they were all the same.
Which meant Everett had carried her to the sofa to sleep last night and stayed
behind to help her with her work.
Judging by the amount of work, it must have taken him all night...noveldrama
Selena sat in the leather chair, stunned.
She hadn't expected Everett to do this for her.
She knew Everett well. He might admire successful career women, but he wasn't looking for that in a wife.
He was busy himself, juggling responsibilities at Bennett Corporation, and when
he was home, he wanted a caring, gentle partner.
That had been the main reason he'd refused to let go back then.
Besides liking her presence, he appreciated her domesticity.
So, his help now indeed shocked her.
Selena gently ran her fingers over the writing on the sticky notes, feeling a swirl of emotions.
After a while, she closed the files and got up to wash and get dressed.
...
When Selena went downstairs, only
little Haley was left in the dining area, sitting in her high chair, with Ava beside her, feeding her. Haley's face was covered in food.
Selena was a bit surprised.
She had
Cought Everett would have
stayed for breakfast after being so considerate last night, but to her surprise, he had already left.
What do you think?
