Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 902

Selena wasn't surprised. What was bound to happen would always find its way.

Everett was locked up at the station, and Holt drove Selena there. As she stepped out of the car, Holt asked if she needed company. Selena smiled and said, "Just hang tight out here for me, okay?"

Holt nodded. Up to that point, she still couldn't figure out what Selena was really after, but since Selena had chosen this path, all Holt could do was trust her completely.

When Selena opened the door, she found Everett standing by the window, staring out into the night. His handsome face was a blank slate, lost in thoughts she

couldn't guess.

Hearing footsteps, he turned and looked at her. His dark eyes were deep and icy, almost devoid of any warmth.

Selena held his gaze silently. Just three days ago, they were lost in each other, his eyes so tender they seemed to melt her. But now, they cut through her like knives.

Selena thought, somewhat dazed, this was the first time he looked at her like this. Even at his most resentful, there had always been a hint of love.

Even though she'd tried to brace herself, Selena felt a moment of breathlessness. But she forced herself to stay calm, walked over, and pulled out a chair to sit down.

Everett's eyes tracked her every move. Before she arrived, he'd been crafting excuses for her in his mind, but now he had his answer. He'd been betrayed by the woman he loved most.

Even so, he parted his lips to ask, word by word, "You teamed up with Abraham to steal my corporate seals, to take over my company and ruin me?"

Selena's eyes flickered, but she met his gaze steadily. "Yes."

Everett suddenly laughed. "Why? You know if you'd just asked, I would've given you everything. Why go through all this?"

Everything he had worked for naturally belonged to Selena and their kids. She didn't need to lift a finger to enjoy it all. Yet she teamed up with his enemy, choosing this path to take it all.

"Everett, don't you know the answer better than do?" Selena sneered. "Because hate you. Everything you put me through still feels like a stab to the beart. And you think we could start over, grow old together On what grounds?"

"Sure, I could have everything you offer, but the price is returning to you, being your wife again, spending the rest of my life with you, having more of your kids."

"I hate you so much. Why should I force myself? Better to take everything from you, watch you fall from grace to ruin, only then can my hatred be appeased."

Everett didn't react with the rage one might expect; he just watched her quietly, his dark eyes filled with sorrow.

"Is this what you wanted? So that night, was it your last act of kindness? To make me drop my guard and carry out your plan with Abraham?"

Selena's hand clenched gently beneath the table. "You could say that..."

Everett laughed again, but the emotion didn't reach his eyes. He suddenly stepped forward, grabbing Selena's wrist and pulling her to her feet, then pressed her forcefully against the table.

His tall frame loomed over her small body. From behind, only her slender limbs were visible, struggling uselessly against his strength.

Everett's large hand wrapped around Selena's delicate neck, a fragilenoveldrama

woman at his mercy. Yet his bloodshot eyes stared at her for a long moment before he harshly bit her fip, almost drawing blood before letting go.

The blood on Selena's pale lips gave them an eerily broken allure. Everett's lips

were so close to her ear as he slowly enunciated each word.

"Selena, you've won. You're free now. What I owed you is paid. From now on, you and I... are done."
