She wasn't clueless.

She knew perfectly well that she didn't have enough clout yet, and her own strength wasn't enough to protect herself and her little family.

Everett had definitely hurt her a lot in the past, but he'd never mistreated her two kids. He'd always loved them deeply and was a great dad.

Mateo and Haley hadn't grown up with him from the start, but in the short time they'd spent together, they'd come to adore their father. That was proof enough that Everett genuinely cared for his children behind closed doors.

Maybe Abraham could never wrap his head around the fact that Everett, a high- powered CEO, was a complete softie for his daughter at home. He'd play with her, buy her all kinds of jewelry that couldn't even fit in her jewelry box, cook for her, dress her, braid her hair, and let her ride on his shoulders and make all the mischief she wanted.

As for Mateo, Everett was a bit tougher on him, being the older brother and all, but it wasn't out of any harshness. The lessons Everett gave Mateo were things Selena could never dream of teaching.

Everett was truly the rock and support for her and her kids.

As long as he was in charge, he could smooth the path for the kids' future. Why should they have to struggle?

He even thought Selena's ideas were utterly ridiculous.

They were just on completely different wavelengths.

Abraham was too impatient to listen to her so-called "girlish" talk any longer. He sneered and said, "Selena, you've underestimated me too. Do you really think today's little stunt is enough to take me down? You're too naive!"

He paused for a moment, then continued, "As for your Everett, let me tell you, he's already locked up. Do you really think he can get out? He's finished, and soon, you, your children, and that witch Mallie will face your fate."

Selena clenched her hand slightly, then let it go.

To say she wasn't scared at all would be a lie, but she wasn't about to show weakness in front of Abraham.

"Alright, I'll be watching."

Abraham snapped, "Get out."

Selena got up without a word, straightened her back, and walked out without looking back.

Levi watched Selena's retreating

Abraham wasn't thrilled either, but he couldn't risk all his plans over a moment of pride.

"Tell them to fast-track Everett's case. I want him to have no way out!"

As long as Everett was out of the picture, Selena wouldn't slip out of his grasp.

Levi nodded, "And what about you? The online backlash is intense, and it might be tricky to control the narrative..."

Abraham sneered, "These fools will
