Chapter 41 Don’t Like It? I’ll Get You A New One
Blanca heard all of that clearly, and had to wonder what she was thinking coming out without looking halfway decent!
Sure, she looked fine enough, but some people only looked at clothes and purses and other accessories. Without it, it was sure to draw contempt.
She might not have cared before, but now she represented Matthew as well, so she did have to pay attention to that sort of thing now. But she didn’t know the first thing about makeup. As for dressing up and putting an outfit together, she’d never bothered before either.
The elevator reached the floor of Matthew’s office. Blanca walked out, went straight to the door, knocked, and went in.
Matthew looked up at her expressionlessly. “Go over there and wait for me.”
Seemed like he was still busy. Blanca brought the lunchbox over to the sofa area.
Thinking of those words from back then, she couldn’t help but feel a bit uncomfortable. She poked the plush pillow on the side. Incessantly.
After he was done with work, Matthew saw the way Blanca was sitting all puffed up on the sofa.
She was still taking it out on the plush pillow when he arrived at her side.
“What, don’t like the pillow?”
“Yeah.”
Matthew cocked an eyebrow. “Then I’ll have someone get you a new one.”
Blanca blinked and snapped back to reality. “Wait, no, it’s not the pillow. Do you know any good makeup artists or stylists?”
“You want to learn how to do makeup?”
Well, that was quick. Fine, might as well just admit it.
“Yeah. I’m your wife now, and I’d embarrass you if I don’t know how to style myself, right?”
Matthew went quiet for a moment. “Did someone say something?”
He asked such a thing because this girl just had everything written across her face. She was blunt and straightforward before, now she was poking pillows and talking about learning makeup. She must have heard something.
Blanca bit her lip. “Not really. Just tell me if you know people like that?”
She didn’t like talking about others behind their back. The women talking about her were just jealous, and she wasn’t trying to take it up with them by learning makeup. It was just a decision after considering things long-term.
Matthew thought about it and said, “You don’t need makeup. This is fine. Let’s eat.”
“Eh?” Seemed like he was praising her. Blanca chewed on her lip some more. Fine, since he was saying that much, forget it!
Blanca was still unable to sit still, while Matthew had sat down elegantly and opened up his lunchbox. Maybe because of this little accident today, he’d worked up an appetite.
There were four dishes and a soup inside the lunchbox, and Matthew took them out one at a time with his slender fingers, finally taking up a silver-plated fork.
Faced with the delicacies before her, her ill mood dissipated. Blanca stopped holding back and dug in, taking her seat.
Eating halfway, Blanca seemed to think of something. “Did you know that such a day would come?”Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Hm?”
“That they’d look down on me.”
There was a bit of a smile in Matthew’s dark eyes. His thin lips parted, and his smooth bass came out again. “You’re my wife. The people who’re talking about you behind your back are either jealous or bored.”
“It was just an arrangement…” Blanca couldn’t help but emphasize.
“Before the law or before everyone else, this is fact,” Matthew stated.
Blanca fell silent. That somewhat made sense…
She stopped overthinking things and started concentrating on her meal. She didn’t know that right now, outside the office window, Lisa the secretary’s gaze was fixed on them.
Really?
How was this clot a fitting match for the chairman…
