Chapter 166
Avery’s pov
With me on Xade’s back clutching his fur and Kaylee on Xaden’s we move through the forest. Hours seem to pass in a blur and thankfully we encountered no other hunter on the way. I scan around, up ahead there’s a road and my heart leaps.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
It’s a familiar road. We’re home.
“We’re home,” I whisper shakily, my heart thrumming against my chest happily. We made it. Xade and Xaden’s pace quickens.
My heart jumps in my throat as we draw near and more than fifteen wolves emerge out of the trees. You’d think that them being huge I would have spotted them earlier, but they

was near impossible to have spotted them soon.
Xade lets out a rumble under me and I stiffen. Were they enemies? I hated that I was not familiar with his world yet.

When the bigger wolf comes forward and shifts into his human form I instantly recognize him as Logan who had been Xadeon long time friend but apparently he was more than that. His worried gaze shifts

“We were getting worried that you all didn’t make it,” he admitted, eyes shifting to Kaylee who legs had healed but Xaden had refused to let her down. I think he quite liked that she was this close to him.
“A rogue?” His bushy blonde brow raise in question.
Xaden stops beside him and has Kaylee slide off. He quickly shifts in his human form and stands before her protectively when some of the wolves behind Logan look on edge by her presence.
Not for long,” Xaden gritted. ” She’s my mate.”
Logan’s eyes widen in surprise and he nods, eyes flickering to Xade and nods. “I guess you’ll get Avery home before she gets spotted?”
Xade growls low and I believe it was his response because Logan nods, smiling at me and waving as Xade passes him. “Nice to see you Avery!” he yells after me and I embarrassingly wave at him, a bit awkward that this grown man who I have known for years is naked.
I’ll catch up after we’ve taken Kaylee to the infirmary for a check up,” Xaden promises as Kaylee hides behind him. I waved at her, my eyes softening to tell her to trust Xaden that he’d never make anyone hurt her. She smiles shyly and nods and I wave her.
Xade quickens his pace again and a few wolves follow after him a few paces behind. I sighed, the heavy weight on my shoulders lifting as the familiar landscape surround us.
We arrive at Xade’s home which had always reminded me of a castle. It was no secret that Xadeon was the richest man in town. The double wooden doors suddenly opens and Xade rushes in, making me clutch him tightly as he bounded up the stairs.
Xade takes me to his room, lowering to let me get off his back. When my feet is planted on the floor, Xade shifts in his human form. He steps forward and clutches both of my arms, his worried eyes scanning my body for any signs of harm.
I’m okay,” I say to him and push closer in his arms until he circles his arms around my middle and hugs me. He rests his chin on my head and sighs. “I was scared you got hurt back there. I thought- His voice cracks and he stops talking, kissing my head multiple times until I giggle and playfully pull away. “At this point, you won’t stop kissing me.”
His determined eyes that twinkle with adoration stare down at me deeply. “I won’t ever.”
