My Mute Wife

Chapter 139 – Cutting off the grass

Lennox came out of the morgue, a weathered face wrinkled, eyes covered with red blood, as if the next second to crack as frightening.

The bodyguards and assistants at the door immediately silenced, not daring to say a word more.

“Where is Alan now?”

Lennox’s voice echoed down the hallway.

The assistant said, “Alan should still be in L City to talk about the project, the news from there said, this time the bid, Alan’s chances of winning a lot, basically is ten to nine.”

“Nine out of ten?” Lennox clenched his fist, the back of his hand bruises, “I want him one life for one life, should not have left this scourge in the first place, cut off the grass without removing the roots, the spring wind blowing again.”

“What you mean is …”

There was a sudden click in the building room, the sound of something falling.

Lennox’s face tightened.

The bodyguard and the assistant had quickly pulled open the door between the building and saw a terrified Edith.

“You didn’t leave?”

Edith took two steps back, holding onto the handrail of the stairs, a face pale with fear, “Second Uncle, I didn’t hear anything, I’m leaving.”

“Didn’t hear a thing? Do you think I believe that?”

“I really didn’t hear anything.”

“Stand still!”

The two words fell in a deep and cold voice, and the bodyguard immediately understood and grabbed Edith.

She screamed and was knocked unconscious before she could call for help.

“Take her with you and count her as a hostage.”

Lennox glanced at Edith coldly, his face unkind.

If it wasn’t for her whispering in her daughter’s ear, Tina wouldn’t have been so confused and done so many stupid things that she ended up falling out with the Walsh family and ending up with a mental disorder.

Edith woke up in an abandoned warehouse.

“What do you want?”

“Mrs. Howard, we, Mr. Howard, have asked you to stay here for a while, nothing more.”

“Second Uncle?” Edith snapped back to the hospital morgue, “Why are you arresting me, I don’t know anything! It’s got nothing to do with me!”

“Nothing to do with you?”

Lennox’s sneering voice came from the darkness, “How many of the people around Alan have clean hands? I don’t care what you did or didn’t do, with you in my hands, Alan will have to listen to me.”

L City’s bidding session, he must do everything possible to make Alan plant a heel, otherwise the theft of patents reported to the board of directors, Alan will not let himself go.

Edith’s face paled, “What’s the point of arresting me if you’re going to threaten Alan.”

“You are his fianc?? e, everyone in J City knows that he is obedient to you, who will be arrested if not you?”

“That’s all a lie, the person he cares about most is the dummy, not me at all!”Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

Mute?

Lennox frowned.

“Although the two of them are divorced, do you know that he took that mute to L City, so uneasy that she stays alone in J City, still not afraid that I or others will do something to harm her, the person he cares most is Lexie!”

“What’s the point of you telling me this, can I now have someone go to L City and get her too?”

“No need to catch her, she has a soft spot, right here in J City.”

Edith’s voice echoed through the warehouse, grim and unmistakable.

Alan returned to the hotel after an afternoon meeting and saw Lexie asleep on the couch with a magazine resting on her lap, looking like it was about to slide off.

He caught the magazine with a quick eye, about the magnitude of too much, woke up Lexie.

Lexie looked sleepily at the man in front of her and snapped awake, her body stiffening.

“Woke you up?”

Alan rested the magazine on the coffee table.

Lexie sat up straight, [When did you get back?

“Just finished working, and you haven’t been out all day?”

Lexie nods her head.

She had never left J City in her entire life, and L City was her first visit.

Alan lifted his wrist and glanced at the time, “Change your clothes and go out to dinner with me.”

Lexie was stunned and looked at Alan with dismay.

As soon as he entered the box, he was greeted by someone who greeted Alan.

“Mr. Howard, you’re finally here, sit over here, sit over here.”

Lexie did not expect Alan to bring her to the dinner.

At the round table, a table of men surrounded by young women as companions, a glance at it is clear that all are not the original wife of the family, are outside women.

As soon as Lexie was seated, the woman next to her pointed to her handbag and asked, “Did Mr. Howard buy this for you? It’s a limited edition.”

Lexie subconsciously glanced at the bag in her hand with a complicated look.

She had hardly brought any luggage, all the clothes, bags and accessories were all re-purchased for her by Alan in L City, and she didn’t pay attention to what was limited.

The young woman next to him was very red-eyed and immediately took hold of the man on the other side, “Look at it, people are so good-looking bags, I was compared to it.”

The man’s hair was white, but he coaxed the woman, “After dinner, I’ll go buy you an identical one.”

“That’s what you said!”

“Sure, but you’ll have to drink a few more for me later.”

“No problem.”

Such a conversation fell on Lexie’s ears and she frowned.

At the table, the men chatted about business matters, the women rarely intervened to get involved, most of them just picked up a glass of wine when the field was a little cold to help cheer up and drink a couple of glasses.

Halfway through the day, Alan went out, leaving Lexie alone.

“The pretty girl Mr. Howard brought in, why hasn’t she been talking?”

A male voice came from across the room, and Lexie was slightly stunned.

“I didn’t expect Mr. Howard to like this kind of quiet and introverted,” another person at the table said, “A very good eye indeed.”

The woman beside the man was not happy at once, picking up a glass of wine and saying in a sinister way, “The beauty is also not talkative, I toast the beauty, right? Make a friend.”

Before Lexie could react, the glass in front of her was poured with red wine.

Lexie frowned and couldn’t stop looking outside the box, but Alan never came back.

She can’t drink alcohol, Kevin is treating her for dumbness, many irritants can’t be eaten, and her diet needs special attention.

The woman across the table was leering, “What, the beauty doesn’t give me face?”

“Kiki, what is so difficult for people, really so want to drink, I drink with you.”

The young woman next to Lexie suddenly stood up, picked up her red wine glass and smiled towards the woman across the table, “Mr. Howard just left for a while, it wouldn’t be nice to come back and see your lady friend getting drunk, would it?”

After saying this, she drank the wine in one go, “Kiki, satisfied?”

The woman across the table had an ugly look on her face, but Alan happened to be back, so she could only suppress her anger and sit down.

“What’s wrong?” Alan felt that the atmosphere was not quite right as soon as he took his seat.

“Nothing, nothing, Mr. Howard, let’s continue the conversation we just had about the market.”

Alan glanced at Lexie and saw nothing unusual about her, so he didn’t think much of it.

Lexie’s eyes instead fell on the young girl at her side.

We don’t know each other, why should she help herself?
