Chapter 478
"Mr. Fitzgerald, the bodyguards assigned to your wife were blocked by a group of men who appeared out of nowhere. By the time they handled the situation, the Rolls-Royce was gone. We just confirmed Mrs. Fitzgerald isn't at The Vaughan Group either."
In other words, Isadora had vanished.
Victor's fingers, long and elegant, froze mid-motion. His handsome face
darkened, voice like a cold snap. "What do you mean, she's not at The Vaughan Group?"
Kemp kept his head bowed, speaking respectfully. "Sir, rest assured, I've already doubled our search efforts for Mrs. Fitzgerald."
Victor snatched up his phone and immediately dialed Isadora's number.
The line rang, each cold, mechanical tone echoing in the silence-no one picked up.noveldrama
The last trace of warmth left Victor's eyes. He didn't hesitate. He stood, striding swiftly toward the door.
Kemp rushed to block his path, blurting out, "Mr. Fitzgerald, you can't leave! If you walk out now, this meeting will fall apart."
"Move."
Victor's voice was glacial, so cold it seemed to freeze the very air.
He fixed Kemp with a chilling stare. "Since when do you give me orders?"
Kemp shuddered beneath that gaze and had no choice but to step aside.
Victor swept his icy gaze across the boardroom, issuing a curt command. "Keep me updated on everything. Immediately."
With that, he made to leave.
Kemp wanted to weep. How was he supposed to handle this mess alone?
He could practically feel the boardroom full of sharks circling.
Virgil, watching Victor's retreating back, was almost vibrating with excitement.
Go on, just walk away!
If you leave now, Victor, you'll never get your position back!
Just then, Victor's phone chimed with a new message. He paused, glanced down, and opened it.
Whatever he saw made his brow furrow in displeasure.
After a long moment, Victor-every inch the composed, aristocratic leader-
turned and walked back to his seat.
Kemp, whose face had been clouded with dread, instantly brightened at Victor's return.
He's...he's staying?
Virgil's heart skipped a beat when he saw Victor halt and turn around.
What just happened? Why isn't that bastard chasing after that woman?
Virgil quickly texted, "What's going on at the scene?"
The reply came fast: "She still hasn't shown up. Our people are searching everywhere. No sign of her yet."
Virgil's grip tightened so hard on his phone his knuckles turned white.
Damn it!
The shareholders grew restless. One of them demanded, "Mr. Fitzgerald, do you
have any response to what Lincoln just said?"
Victor calmly picked up a folder and handed it over.
Kemp immediately brought it to the projector.
Moments later, massive documents rolled across the screen.
Kemp announced, "The $80 million invested in the Vaughan family's department store came directly from Mr. Fitzgerald's private Swiss account."
The proof was right there: a screenshot of the Swiss bank transfer, projected for
all to see.
The board members stared, blinking in shock.
What on earth...?
Lincoln, who had just been ready to pounce, suddenly looked like he'd slipped
into senility, struck dumb by the revelation.
Victor let out a cold, humorless chuckle.
"Who knew my private investment would cause such a stir?"
Lincoln went pale. "The investment division reports directly to you. You can say whatever you want."
Victor's eyes narrowed, his voice dangerously soft. "Lincoln, you're getting old. Maybe it's time to retire and enjoy your golden years. Stirring up chaps at the board meeting over something you didn't bother to investigate? Is that really how you want to go out?"
Lincoln recalled how Maxwell had just been thrown under the

The vice president, feeling the weight of Victor's presence, hastily stepped aside.
Standing at the lectern, Victor swept the room with a razor-sharp gaze, a cruel smile tugging at his lips. His voice was cool and clear:
"If any of you think you can outperform me and bring in more profit for The Fitzgerald Group, feel free to step up. Well?"
What do you think?
