No More Waiting, She Chooses Love

Chapter 637

Chapter 637

I was holding the college acceptance letter when I went to see Susie. She was working as a preschool teacher, and when I arrived, she was in the middle of a lively game with the kids, all of them laughing and having a blast.

Seeing her so happy, I couldn't help but wonder if encouraging her to go back to school was the right thing to do.

"Girl, if you didn't come to find me, I was planning to hunt you down this weekend," Susie said as she made her way over to me, her forehead and the tip of her nose glistening with sweat.

Working with kids is no small feat. I pulled out a tissue for her, "Sure you're not overexerting yourself?"Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

"I'm better than ever," she said, patting her chest, "This heart of mine, it's like it's got a mind of its own, taking such good care of me."

Her words brought Judie Sears to my mind, and of course, Mack Craig, with his complex feelings that even he couldn't seem to untangle.

"Any new developments with Mack?" I decided to dive right into it, no beating around the bush.

The sudden shift in topic took Susie by surprise, a blush creeping up her cheeks, "It's the same."

"Susie, you might think Mack is great now, but when you meet more men out there, you might change your mind," I hinted, trying to protect her from investing too much emotionally.

If Mack's interest was solely because of the heart beating inside her, it could crush Susie if she found out.

"I won't," Susie looked at me, "Licia, my feelings for Mack aren't just about his looks or intelligence. It's also because..."

She hesitated, shaking her head slightly, "It's also because I felt this instant connection the first time I met him, like we've known each other in a past life."

Susie's words made me glance at her chest, where her heart lay. She met Mack after her surgery.

So, was this connection because of the heart?

Was her affection for Mack not truly hers but the heart's?

The thought seemed absurd; after all, the heart was just an organ, and Susie had her own mind, her own feelings. Yet, I couldn't make sense of her words.

"Is it that you don't like Mack, or do you think he's not good enough?" Susie picked up on my hesitation.

"No, it's not that. I'm just worried you

might regret it if you fall for

someone so quickly without experiencing more, only to meet the one you truly love later," I tried to explain, handing her the acceptance letter from my bag.

Her eyes widened at the sight of the college logo and name, "Licia, this is..."

"Just open it," I smiled.

As she read her name on the letter, her eyes shot up to mine in disbelief, "Licia, is this... for me? My name's on it..."

"Yes, congratulations on getting into King's College," I extended my hand towards her.

But Susie, still in disbelief, hugged

into King's College. Am I dreaming?"

The kids started to gather around us, curious. Ktried to calm her, "No dream, you're really going to King's College. But maybe tone it down a bit, you're scaring the little ones."

Even as I said that, Susie wouldn't let go, as if holding on was the only way to express her excitement.

"Licia, tell my brother I love him to death," she exclaimed.

For a moment, I was taken aback.

She didn't think her acceptance was thanks to Ernest, did she?

"Ernest promised me he'd get me into King's College this year," she explained, and it clicked.

Ernest had made a promise, and I had inadvertently fulfilled it.

I managed a bittersweet smile, "Your brother always keeps his word."

"Licia, I haven't talked to my brother in ages. Call him, I need to speak with him," Susie's sudden request left me frozen.
