“Ve, do I really have to go all out like this with extravagant makeup?”
Currently, Veronica had brought Deasy to one of her regular high-end salons. She was intentionally giving her best effort to make her friend look stunning and the center of attention for many.
As planned earlier, Deasy was going to attend Lucas’s wedding, and Veronica even volunteered to accompany and assist her.
Because Veronica wanted Deasy to look flawless, she took charge of everything from the gown, makeup, and all the details.
“Yes, Des, of course. We want to make Lucas regret it, right? So, you have to go all out. Let him regret ever letting you go so easily.”
Deasy nodded in agreement. To make Lucas regret his decision and realize what he had lost, she obediently followed Veronica’s instructions.
“Here’s the gown you need to wear,” Veronica said, handing over a white off-shoulder A-line gown with glitter accents to Deasy, who had just finished her makeup.
“Wow, the gown is really beautiful. Where did you buy it? It must be expensive,” Deasy said as she examined the gown that Veronica had handed to her.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t have to sell a house for it. Besides, it’s a special day. I promised to make you look stunning and dazzling. So, today, everyone should be mesmerized by your beauty, Des.”
Deasy couldn’t wait. With Veronica’s assistance, she slowly put on the gown that had been prepared for her. Once it was perfectly in place, Veronica even helped her put on her shoes and accessories, making Deasy look absolutely stunning, just as hoped.
“Perfect,” Veronica murmured with an amazed expression. There was no denying that Deasy looked incredibly beautiful now. “Seriously, no exaggeration, you look stunning, Des,” Veronica genuinely praised her. It wasn’t excessive or boastful. In her eyes, Deasy truly looked beautiful. Fortunately, the dress her friend was wearing fit perfectly, and it didn’t feel tight, considering that Deasy was pregnant.
“Do you really think I’m beautiful? But, come on, I’m naturally beautiful, right?”
Veronica sighed. She forgot that her friend was extremely narcissistic.
“Alright, just wait here for a moment. I need to get ready too. After this, we’ll be on our way to the venue.”
Deasy nodded enthusiastically. She couldn’t wait to meet Lucas at the event. Although there was some pain in having to let go of the man she loved, Deasy was trying to be big-hearted. She even promised herself not to cry when congratulating the man who clearly impregnated her.
“So, are you ready?” Veronica asked after changing into her gown. Just like Deasy, Darwin’s wife looked stunning, like a princess. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
“I’m ready,” Deasy affirmed confidently. “I’m 100% ready for anything, Ve. Whenever you bring me in front of Lucas, I’m prepared in body and soul.”
Veronica laughed. She reached out, holding Deasy’s hand and guiding her to exit the car. They both made their way to one of the renowned hotels chosen as the venue for Lucas’s wedding.
Luckily, even though it was a Saturday and the evening was approaching, the roads were not too crowded. It took them about twenty-five minutes to finally arrive at the venue.
Veronica got out of the car first and helped Deasy exit. Holding hands again, they walked together toward the ballroom where the event was being held.
“Des…” Veronica called out before they entered the event venue. As if there was something important that Lucas wanted to convey to her friend. “Are you really prepared in body and soul? I mean, are you ready for all the risks and whatever might happen after we go in?”
Deasy nodded confidently. She was sincerely prepared for whatever might happen. As Darwin had advised earlier, she had come to this wedding purely to offer congratulations elegantly. She also promised herself that she wouldn’t cry when congratulating Lucas, despite the pain of having to let him go.
“Don’t worry, Ve. I’ll be just fine. No need to worry. I even prepared a script for a speech, just in case,” Deasy said with a laugh. Although Veronica knew her friend was trying to push away her sadness.
“Alright, take a deep breath now. We’re going to enter the event.”
Deasy nodded confidently and took a step to enter the ballroom.
However, as soon as she entered, Deasy became puzzled. Inside the ballroom, she didn’t see any guests as one would expect at a typical wedding party. She even began to wonder if she was in the right place.
And, more than that.
As Deasy was about to confirm this with Veronica, she was even more astonished.
When she turned, Deasy found Lucas standing right beside her.
“Lucas…” Deasy exclaimed, unable to control her surprise.
“Y-you…”
“Des…” Lucas interrupted her immediately, stopping Deasy’s unfinished sentence.
“Y-yes?”
“Deasy Winterborne Winterborne, I know you must be really surprised. But, ignoring that, I just want to ask you and I need your answer right away.”
“Ask?”
Deasy was completely confused. She had prepared herself to act aloof when she met Lucas at the wedding. But in reality, when she saw the man she loved, her mind went blank.
“Do you want to be my wife?”
“W-what? What did you just say?”
Lucas nodded, reaffirming his earlier statement.
“Do you want to marry me, become my wife, and the mother of my children? Today, right now.”
Deasy’s eyes widened. She was beyond shocked by the question Lucas had just asked her. Seriously, this wasn’t some hallucination or a dream, was it?
