Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 531

Nathan's leg and arm were wrapped up in heavy casts, and Nathalie gently ran her fingers over the hard plaster, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Nathan, does it hurt?" she asked softly.

Nathan shook his head. "No, it doesn't hurt," he replied, though the tightness in his brow told a different story.noveldrama

He added, "It's just that, having my arm and leg out of commission is a bit of a hassle."

Nathalie tenderly touched his plastered arm, her voice filled with care. "Don't worry, my hands are your hands. If you need anything, like eating or drinking, I'm here for you." Nathan's cheeks turned a shade of pink. "What about when I need to use the bathroom?" he asked hesitantly.

Nathalie paused, her mind racing with the thought of helping him with something so personal. Her face flushed with embarrassment.

Nathan, looking like a wounded deer, his spirit dampened, said, "You don't have to help me. I still have one foot and one hand; I can manage."

But his expression was more like a delicate flower in a greenhouse, fragile and uncertain.

Nathalie squared her shoulders, her voice filled with resolve. "I'm your wife. Helping you out, whether it's the bathroom, a bath, or anything else, I'm here for it all."

The gloom in Nathan's eyes vanished, replaced by a radiant smile. "Well, I really appreciate it," he said, his eyes twinkling with gratitude.

Nathalie was momentarily captivated by his smile. Nathan's smile was like a beacon, charming and irresistible.

Cameron had once said Nathan was as cunning and ruthless as a wolf, but Nathalie couldn't believe it for a second.

"Nathalie, I'm thirsty," Nathan said, tugging at her sleeve, snapping her back to reality.

Quickly shaking thoughts of Cameron from her mind, Nathalie prepared a cup of warm water for Nathan and returned to his side.

She held the cup to his lips. "Careful, now," she murmured, watching him drink.

Nathan relished the attention, his lips curling into a wide grin.

But once he finished, his smile faded.

"What's wrong?" Nathalie asked, concerned.

Nathan looked downcast. "Why did you go see him last night?"

Nathalie answered truthfully, "Nina asked me to meet Dad at the cafe. I thought you were the one who wanted to meet."

Nathan's somber gaze lightened at her words.

Nathalie pressed on, "Why did you take down the greenhouse we just built before I got back?"

She had been puzzled. Nathan had gone through all that trouble to set up a proposal; why couldn't

Nathan confessed, "When you went to see Cameron, I freaked out. I panicked and gave the order."

Nathalie looked at him, confused. "Why were you so scared?"

She always felt his trust in her was fragile, but she didn't understand why.

She and Cameron were like sworn enemies; there was no chance of reconciliation.

Nathan gently placed his good hand over Nathalie's, his pale fingers entwining with hers. "You once offered him your kidney... you must've really loved him, right?"

Nathalie's face went pale.

Sure, people had called her Cameron's loyal follower back then.

No wonder Nathan was hesitant about her feelings.

Frustrated, she firmly told Nathan, "I'll say this once, Nathan. I loved him before because I thought he was a decent guy. Now, I see him as a hypocrite. I don't regret loving him; it was a mistake of my youth. But now and going forward, I don't want him to disrupt my life. All want is to be with you."
