Chapter 882
Nathalie's eyes popped wide open. "Who says I can't have a milkshake?"
Morris's face turned serious. "Nathalie, alcohol and those flashy drinks are processed by the kidneys. You're not allowed to have them."
You could tell he was upset. Nathalie, seeing his serious expression, was suddenly thrown back to memories of her past life. Back then, she'd suffered from severe kidney disease, had no money for a transplant, and the pain from her swollen body was still etched in her mind.
A shiver ran down her spine. "I won't touch them anymore. I never mentioned to him that I have just one kidney, maybe he missed that."
Lincoln glanced between Nathalie and Morris, feeling an unexpected sense that they would make a good couple. Nathalie never paid much attention to her health when working; late nights and unhealthy drinks were her norm. When he tried to advise her, she'd agree half-heartedly, and he couldn't bring himself to be harsh, which weighed on him constantly.
But Morris, gentle as he was, laid down the law so firmly, and Nathalie took his criticism without a hint of resentment, accepting it with surprising ease.
It was obvious they truly cared for each other.
Lincoln began to wonder: if Nathalie was with Morris, would she be happier? Healthier? If so, why would he stand in the way of their relationship?
"Nathan, keep an eye on Vivian for me. She seems to listen to you," Lincoln whispered to Morris.
Morris was speechless. If he ever left this world, what would happen to Nathalie?
Feeling a pang of sadness, Morris firmly told Lincoln, "You're her elder. You can spoil her in many ways, but when it comes to her health, you can't just let it slide."
Lincoln felt a mix of guilt and unease
as he looked at Nathalie. "I always feel like I didn't fulfill my role as a father earlier in life, making Vivian go through so much, and I feel
immense guilt. I'm worried that if I'm too strict now shell push back and drift away." noveldrama
Lincoln then turned to Nathalie, "But Vivian, every time you stay up late or drink those unhealthy things, it worries me a lot."
"I'm sorry for making you worry. I'll keep myself away from junk food from now on," Nathalie promised.
She cleverly shifted the conversation, "By the way, Dad, what are you and Nathan working on?"
Morris picked up a math textbook
looking defeated. "Uncle's trying to

Nathalie was taken aback. Her father's eagerness to teach Morris seemed a bit out of his league, but she didn't want to crush his enthusiasm. She gently suggested "Dad, before starting school, there's usually a placement test. Maybe you should give Nathan a test first. That way, you can tailor the lessons to his actual level."
Lincoln thought that sounded reasonable and got up to head to the study. "Vivian's right. I'll go download a set of math problems to gauge where you are, Nathan."
Once Lincoln left, Nathalie sympathetically patted Morris on the head. "Nathan, 'to whom the heavens assign a great task, they must first test with toil and hardship...""
Morris took her small hand down but held onto it tightly. "Nathalie, your uncle's too much. Maybe I should just move out."
Nathalie froze... She looked straight into Morris's eyes, and her gut told her that Morris wasn't trying to escape from her dad, but from being close to her.
