Reclaiming My Broken Luna 2

Chapter 303: Maternity Test

Astrid's

POV

The words seemed to hang in the air, and for a moment, I couldn't process them. My world spun as my eyes widened, my breath catching in my throat.

"What?" I whispered, feeling the weight of the truth settling over me, disbelief and confusion flooding my mind.

Killian's gaze softened, a mixture of happiness and deep sorrow etched into his features.

"It's true," he said, his voice cracking. "All this time, Ryker was yours... ours. I-I didn't know. I swear, I didn't know."

I stared at Killian, my mind reeling. His words echoed in my head, but they made no sense. My heart raced, and my vision blurred as confusion clawed at me.

"No... that can't be true," I whispered, shaking my head, my hands trembling at my sides. "I had a miscarriage. I lost my baby. I never even got the chance to give birth. How... how could Ryker be my son?"

The words felt impossible, and yet, deep down, a tiny spark of hope flickered inside me a hope I was afraid to acknowledge.

I felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff, wanting to believe, but terrified that if I leapt, I would fall into the same abyss of pain I had been in years ago.

It made no sense, and my heart ached with the confusion of it all.

I took a shaky breath, my mind and heart at war. "This is not a good joke, Killian. I lived for three years thinking that my son is dead. Don't play with me, Killian," I threatened him as I kept my overwhelming feelings at bay.

My son, my miscarriage, t has always been a sensitive topic for me. After the years that had passed, until now I still couldn't accept that I've lost him.

Avenging his death is even the reason why I'm here. I'm willing to do anything just to have my son back. I could feel the tears burning in my eyes, but I forced them back, unwilling to let myself be vulnerable to that hope, not after spending years convincing myself to move on.

I had to protect myself from the possibility of disappointment, from the pain that could break me all over again.

Killian's eyes softened, his gaze filled with a tenderness that only deepened the ache in my heart.

"This is a maternity test between you and Ryker," he said quietly, holding the paper out as if it carried both

a promise and a burden. "I did a DNA test behind your back. I had to know."

"What?" I breathed out, my voice a mix of shock and confusion. "Why would you do that? Why would you even suspect that I'm Ryker's mother?"

He sighed, a mixture of regret and something deeper - something that looked like hope.

"After I received the negative maternity test between Giselle and Ryker, something in me... something just wouldn't let it go," Killian answered, unable to fully put himself out there.

"Why me?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "Why would you think I could be his mother?" "Hope," he answered, his voice raw and filled with emotion.

"I've always hoped that, somehow,noveldrama

there was still hope for us. I know

K

I've lost all my chances when L married Giselle and made her my Luna. If I'm going to have a chance then," Killian paused.

He swallowed hard before he proceeded again. "I know it sounds crazy, but I had to try. I couldn't stop thinking... what if? What if there was a chance that Ryker was ours?"

His words hit me hard, and my heart clenched. "And it was positive?" I asked, my voice trembling as I struggled to process everything. "The test... I came back positive?"

Killian nodded, his eyes meeting mine, unflinching. "Yes, it did. And DNA tests don't lie. Ryker is your son." He paused, taking a breath. "He's ours."

I felt the world spin as the reality of his words settled in. Ryker was my son. The child I thought I had lost, the one I had mourned for, was alive.

Tears welled up in my eyes, and I

couldn't hold them back any longer.

The emotions I had tried so hard

suppress for years crashed over me-relief, joy, fear, and an overwhelming sense of loss for all the time that had slipped away.

"How is this possible?" I whispered, my voice breaking. "How could he be alive when they told me..." My words faltered as a realization struck me- Damien still hadn't answered the question about where he got Ryker.

Slowly, Killian and I both turned to him, our eyes locking onto his, waiting for the truth we had been denied for so long.

Damien's shoulders slumped as he faced us, the weight of years of lies and guilt etched deeply into his features.

Yet, despite the regret in his eyes, there was also a glimmer of something else— relief, and maybe even

a hint of happiness. He swallowed hard, trying to steady himself before he spoke.

"You deserve to know everything," he began, his voice thick with emotion.

"And you deserve the truth after all these years. He paused, his gaze shifting between Killian and me, and I could see the sadness and remorse written all over his face. "You never had a miscarriage Your

In

son survived."

I felt my breath catch, my hands clenching at my sides as I fought to process his words. "What do you mean?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.

Damien exhaled, the guilt almost tangible in his expression. "It wasn't a miscarriage, Ryker was only born prematurely and I used my power to bribe and threaten the doctors to lie to you."

His words felt like a physical blow, and my entire body went cold. The room seemed to tilt, my vision blurring as the truth hit me.

I had spent years grieving, believing my child was gone, and all this time, it had been a lie.
