Chapter 55
The voices grew louder. Just then, Nina scolded them, "Quiet down, everyone! Emily, take down the names of those who were talking earlier."
The whole class fell silent.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Mayra was unfazed by their taunts. They were the ones affected, not her. "Ms. Nina, I don't want to become a student tutor."
"That's alright. You should keep up the good work. Though you're a freshman, you still have to focus on your studies. Maintain your performance." "I understand."
The class resumed, yet only a few squiggles were seen on Mayra's notes. She was distracted.
When class ended, a girl deliberately spilled water next to her desk, soaking the corner of her uniform.
"Oops, my bad! I didn't do that on purpose. Mayra, you're not going to report me to the teacher, are you?"
Emily pressed her lips together and lowered her head. She continued working on her words without saying a word.
Mayra produced some tissues to wipe her uniform. "I'm not in the mood now. Don't mess with me."
"What's there to brag about results you obtained through cheating? I despise people like you the most. Stop putting on airs!" The girl was infuriated. Before she could continue, she was stopped by another girl.
Regina handed Mayra a set of test papers. "Mayra, I'm struggling with this question. Can you help me solve it? I just wanna see the steps to your solution."
Mayra intended to refuse, yet the papers were already shoved in her hands. She planned to ignore them, yet she figured it was best to steer clear of any trouble. This was really nothing when she could even tolerate Isabel.
She solved the question in less than three minutes. Jotting down the steps and answer on a piece of paper, she returned the test paper to Regina. "Don't try to test me with such a foolish method next time. I'm not always this kind. Look up the process in the book yourself. Everything's in the book." With that, she rose and left for the toilet.
Regina's expression turned sour. Before she could manifest her anger, she hurried back to her seat to check the answer. Unexpectedly, the answer turned out to be correct.
So, Mayra didn't cheat at all.
"Could it be that she just happened to have done that question before?"
Many students gathered around her, yet no one uttered a word.
Mayra went to the toilet, splashing cold water on her face to wake herself up.
She bumped into Gordon, who was
descending from the stairs, when
she exited the toilet. Wiping the water off her chin, she averted her indifferent gaze away from him acting as if she didn't recognize him at all. She returned to the classroom Without greeting him.
She received more strange looks upon returning. Once she sat down, Emily leaned over and whispered, "Mayra, you didn't cheat, did you?"
Mayra ignored her. Emily kept trying
to talk to her, but she simply dismissed her. Emily promptly left once elass ended. While she was on her duty, Mayra noticed Gordon leaving together with Emily
She was alone for the evening lessons, and she went back on her own after that.
Engulfed in the darkness of her
room, Mayra took a shower after she completed her homework. When she stepped out of the bathroom she realized the tap in the toilet was broken as it kept leaking. The heater wasn't working as well, and she had no idea why.
She could only resort to showering with cold water.
Mayra began memorizing some Eldorish vocabulary. She planned to hone her Eldorish skills, since it might come in handy if she studied abroad in the future.
Her phone had been silent despite her anticipation. There were only a few spam messages.
She wondered what Gordon was up to.
