Rewriting My Heart's Fate

Without Murphy backing her up, Vivian's hands were tied. She was as helpless as a lamb that was going to be slaughtered.

I was about to continue talking when the phone beeped. Stunned, I looked at the screen and laughed coldly at what I saw.

"Did he just hang up on us?" Madison blurted, bewildered. Then, she asked, "What just happened? He hung up, so doesn't it mean that our plan will fail?"

I shook my head and, smirking, told her, "Be patient."

I started to count down. "Three... two... one..."

Just then, the phone started ringing. I shot Madison a look and refused to answer the call. I let the phone ring for a bit before declining the call.

Beside me, Vivian shivered in fear and anger. She was probably cursing Murphy for not coming to her rescue when I first called him. At the moment, she looked so petrified beyond words.

"L-Let me go," she pleaded in her trembling voice. "I won't do anything to get on your bad side again. Please let me go just this once."

I gave a cold laugh, ignoring her pleas. She was an idiot. Did she really think I would let her go just like that?

The phone rang once again. Murphy must've tried calling Vivian just now. Unfortunately for her, I had smashed her phone into pieces before this.

I took my time sliding the button to answer the call. In a flippant voice, I said, "Hey, Mr. Albright. What's your order?"

Murphy roared, "Who are you? Are you the bastard who abducted my daughter? Do you know who I am? I can make you disappear from the surface of the planet!"

I slowly opened my mouth to respond. "Of course, I know who you are. You're Murphy Albright, the richest guy in the world, right? I called you so we can talk business, that's why."

"That's bullshit!" Murphy seethed. "As if I'd do business with you! Let go of Vivian, or I'll make you suffer!" "Oh?" I raised my eyebrows at his threat. In a joking tone, I said, "Are you frantic already? I haven't even stated my condition."

"What the heck do you want?" Murphy said through gritted teeth.

A light smile played on my lips as I cleared my throat. "It's simple. Didn't you abduct someone lately, you old fart?"

Murphy froze. "What? What are you talking about?"

I let out a cold bark of laughter. "Stop playing dumb."

When he finally spoke, his voice was filled with helplessness. "I know you hate me. There are lots of people who hate me! But how dare you abduct my daughter! What do you want?"

After a pause, his tone abruptly became flippant. "Or perhaps you want to become my mistress? This way, I could provide for you for the rest of your life, and you won't ever need to worry about food or shelter anymore."

Furious, I slammed my fist on the table. "Murphy, don't push your luck! What makes you think I'll give myself up to an old pervert like you? That's it I'm hanging up!"

And with that, I ended the call. Murphy was unreasonable beyond words!

For now, I just didn't have the courage to tell him my request.

Just then, Vivian burst out laughing. "Evelyn, you're too naive! Did you really think you could go up

against my family? You overestimate yourself!"

I stared at her, my gaze dark and cold. "Really? How did you get abducted, then?"

"So what if I'm abducted?" Vivian spat indifferently.
