Chapter 1683
Jeremy chuckled. "Sending medicine at midnight? On the surface, it seems like concern from an employee to a boss, but there's always more to it. My experience is something you should learn from. Don't do something you'll regret." Although time could heal many things, the scars left behind weren't so easily erased. The innocent feelings he had once kept buried in his heart would never return in this lifetime.
Some things, once lost, were lost forever.
Joe's face darkened. "It won't happen."
Hearing Joe say it wouldn't happen, Jeremy nodded. He wouldn't believe anyone else, but he trusted Joe's word completely.
Besides...
"She misjudged the way to get your attention. Anyone who knows you well knows you don't like taking medicine."
Jeremy couldn't help but smile as he mentioned Joe's well-known dislike of medicine. The CEO of Martin Group hated medicine the most.noveldrama
Even Skylar, at times, found Joe's aversion to medicine amusing. But someone actively sending medicine to him was just asking to be disliked. After all, there was only one Skylar in the world.
Joe furrowed his brows at the mention of medicine, clearly annoyed. "It's late. Goodnight."
"Alright," Jeremy replied.
...
The next morning, Skylar had just dropped off Vivian at the kindergarten when she received an international call from Natalie.
"Skylar, do you miss me?"
Since Natalie had moved to Fachington with her children and Austin two years ago, she rarely came back. During this time, Natalie's parents had visited her in Fachington.
It wasn't that Natalie didn't miss home; she had simply been pregnant.
Half a year ago, she gave birth to twin boys and was now a mother of three. Austin had all but retired from the entertainment industry, taking on part of the family business, while Natalie entrusted her domestic career to professionals.
Due to their time differences and busy schedules, Skylar and Natalie rarely had the chance to talk on the phone. Instead, they mostly communicated through WhatsApp, exchanging short messages about their lives, checking in on each other, and sharing a few updates.
After all, their lives had entered a new phase.
The identity of "mom" had been added to their roles.
"Of course I miss you. Are you coming back soon?" Skylar asked.
Natalie sighed. "I can't come back for now. Austin is too busy, and the twins are still little. But when Vivian has her summer break, won't you be free too? Why not come to Fachington?"
In truth, Natalie still hadn't warmed to living in Fachington.
She could live there temporarily, but after a while, she always found herself missing home. Thankfully, whenever she craved something from home, her parents would mail it to her.
Austin had hired chefs skilled in domestic dishes so she could always get a taste of home. Still, she missed Skylar.
"I've already made plans with Mona for the summer. She has arranged a few things. But I'll come to visit you during the winter break. I'll bring Vivian with me," Skylar replied, feeling a little regretful.
It had been two years since they last saw each other, and she really missed Natalie.
Although Natalie felt the same
regret, hearing that they would meet
in the winter cheered her up. "Okay great! I'll be waiting for you during winter break. By the way, I've opened a few floan restaurants here in Fachington, and business is doing well. I'll make sure you get food just like you would at home."
"You're a true powerhouse-expanding your business empire wherever you go," Skylar said with a smile.
Natalie, never one to be modest in front of Skylar, laughed. "Of course! Do you know who I am? Nothing can stop me, whether it's men or kids. I'll keep moving forward."
Just then, Skylar vaguely heard other voices in the background of Natalie's phone.
Lorelei Page said, "Mrs. Powell? It is you! I thought I was seeing things. The other day, I mistook someone else for you, and it was awkward."
What do you think?
