Chapter 798
Chapter 798:
Julio soon emerged from the house with his suit jacket in hand, his white shirt disheveled. He strode over to her and helped Dalores up from the ground.
He wrapped an arm around her waist, supporting her as they walked toward his car.noveldrama
He opened the door, helped her in, casually tossed his suit jacket onto the seat, and then went to the driver’s seat to start the car.
The car sped down the empty road like an arrow released from a bow. Dalores hugged herself in the back seat, gripping the door handle tightly. She didn’t speak anymore; she was very calm.
As the car entered the bustling area of the city, Julio slowed down significantly. Dalores slowly sat up straight and said in a hoarse voice, “Thank you.”
“How do you plan to thank me?” Julio replied quickly, as if he had been anticipating her gratitude.
Dalores held her hemline and remained silent.
“What? Are you just expressing your thanks verbally?” Julio glanced at her in the rearview mirror and said sarcastically, “Of course, it’s your husband’s job to save you. I have no obligation to do so.”
“I didn’t ask you to save me,” Dalores replied, her heart sinking. All she could think about was Julio’s back when he had turned around and left earlier.
So, he had come to save her afterward, only to demand her gratitude?
Julio slowed the car to a stop by the roadside, his expression tight with anger, visible in his eyes.
Dalores attempted to exit but found the doors locked. Lowering her voice, she requested, “Please open the door.”
“Am I to you? Why should I obey everything you say?” Julio reclined in his seat, placed his hands behind his head, and closed his eyes as if to rest. Was he planning to sleep here for the night?
“What exactly are you trying to do?” Dalores grew anxious, pushing against the seat, but it didn’t move at all. Her anxious tone failed to elicit any response from Julio, who was feigning sleep.
“Our relationship has reached this point. What more do you want from me? I’ve said what I needed to say. If you believe I’ve done something wrong, tell me directly. But please, can you stop pestering me like this?” Dalores was losing patience. She wanted to cut ties with Julio, fearing that if he stayed around, he might discover the existence of their son, Emerson.
Suddenly, Julio opened his eyes and turned to face Dalores. His seat was now level with hers, bringing their eyes dangerously close.
He said, “What did you do wrong? Don’t you know? Did you really travel from Onaland to Alverton to get an abortion just to marry Kinsey?”
In one swift motion, Julio reached out and clasped Dalores’ neck, immobilizing her. She tried to avoid his accusing gaze but couldn’t.
She placed her hands on the headrest, straining to pull back, but Julio’s grip kept her head in place, forcing her to meet his gaze.
“Don’t you feel any guilt? Doesn’t it hurt?” Julio’s grip was very tight, causing her pain that radiated from her skin and bones.
