Chapter 1180 Taking It Out for You
Chapter 1180 Taking It Out for You
Before Julien could articulate a response, Sydney's hand shot up. "I want to see them."
She was eager to witness the ordeal Dallin had endured at the hands of Luke's friends.
Julien cast a glance at the eager woman beside him and acquiesced with a slight nod. "Show us then."
"Okay." Zach reached into his suit pocket, fished out his phone, and swiftly navigated to the desired images. He then extended the device toward Sydney and Julien.
They leaned in for a closer look.
Sydney's eyes fell upon the photos displayed on Zach's phone.
The image quality was less than ideal due to enlargement and some frame blur, but it was sufficient for viewing.
The photo depicted Dallin leaning against a crumbling wall. His face was marred by bruises and cuts, and blood trickled from his nose and mouth. One eye was swollen shut, while the other stared out defiantly.
His hair was disheveled, a stark contrast to his usually immaculate appearance.
It was a mess, and he looked no different from a beggar.
His body was partially obscured by a coarse brown sack that hung conspicuously around his lower half.
It was evident that Dallin had been unceremoniously dumped from the sack, with only his head and upper body freed so far.
"What a brutal beating!" Sydney clicked her tongue, leaning back in her seat.
Julien merely raised an eyebrow and followed her to sit back.
Zach put away his phone. "Yeah. His face took quite a beating. I suspect his body is in no better condition. Unfortunately, our people had to maintain their distance to avoid detection, so the photos lacked clarity. Otherwise, they would have been able to see more clearly and specify his injuries."
"Why not find out which hospital Dallin was admitted to and obtain his medical report?" Julien suggested casually.
Zach slapped his thigh in realization. "Good idea. I'll have our people dig into it."
With that, he busied himself with typing out instructions on his phone. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
As he dispatched the message, he mused aloud, "I wonder whom Dallin offended to warrant such retribution. Perhaps we can associate with the enemy of our enemy. Maybe he knows something that we don't, which could prove beneficial in our future dealings with Dallin."
Sydney shook her head, indicating her ignorance of any additional information about Dallin.
Her knowledge of him was no more extensive than theirs.
Her reaction was caught by Julien's eyes, only to confirm a speculation in his mind. He chuckled, saying, "Then I'm afraid you're in for a disappointment because the assaulters don't know much about Dallin. You won't find the answers you seek from them."
At his words, both Zach and Sydney fixed their eyes on him.
"Mr. Flint, how can you be so certain?" Zach queried, echoing the question that was foremost in Sydney's mind.
Ignoring Zach, Julien smiled at Sydney. "You were behind the attack on Dallin, weren't you?"
Sydney froze, her pupils dilating in surprise.
Zach was taken aback, his voice rising in disbelief as he turned to Sydney. "What? You orchestrated the assault on Dallin, Ms. Raines?"
Sydney glanced at the astonished Zach and then at Julien, who seemed to have figured out everything. Finally, she sighed and admitted, "Yes, it was me. But how did you deduce that? I didn't utter a word about it, nor did I intend to."
Julien took her hand in his and squeezed it. "It's not hard to figure. Your demeanor and reactions gave yourself away."
"Demeanor and reactions?" Sydney blinked in confusion, not understanding what he meant.
Julien brought her hand to his lips for a gentle kiss before elucidating further. "Upon hearing of Dallin's mishap, a typical uninformed person would have reacted with surprise. Even I didn't expect Dallin to be hit by someone in such a way."
"That's right," Zach echoed his words. "When I first heard about it, I thought I had misheard or that those guys were joking with me. I didn't believe it until I saw the photos."
Julien regarded Zach's words with a cool detachment. With a slight lift of his chin, he continued, "Yet, Leaf, you were not surprised at all. Instead, you laughed. It wasn't the kind of laughter at an unfortunate enemy, but the satisfied chuckle of someone who attained his goals. Who would have these two reactions at the same time? The orchestrator of the assault. So..."
Julien let his words hang in the air, not needing to elaborate further.
Both Sydney and Zach understood his implication.
Sydney spread her hands in a helpless gesture. "So that's how it is. I thought my silence would keep you in the dark. I didn't expect my reaction to give myself away. What surprises me most is your ability to observe and analyze so quickly, even amidst such shocking news. It's truly intimidating. I can't help but feel a pang of sympathy for those who cross paths with you."
Julien dropped another kiss on her fingers and revealed a seductive smile. "I'm flattered."
"Go away." Sydney pouted, pulling her hand back. "It wasn't a compliment."
Julien chuckled, choosing not to respond.
Zach was taken aback, his eyes locked on Sydney with a mixture of surprise and disbelief. It was as if he had suddenly glimpsed her true nature. "Ms. Raines, was it truly you?"
Sydney smiled awkwardly and nodded. "Yes."
Zach drew a sharp breath. "Incredible! I never imagined you would be capable of such an act."
Sydney's cheeks flushed at his words. She laughed dryly and waved her hand dismissively.
Julien elegantly crossed his legs and fixed her with a steady gaze. "Well, why did you do that?"
Zach's eyes sparkled with curiosity as he looked at Sydney.
Sydney stuck out her tongue. "Well, I wanted to take it out for you."
"Take it out for me?" Julien's initial surprise softened into a gentle smile. His voice was so gentle that Zach got goosebumps and rubbed his arms.
"About?" Julien's gaze remained on Sydney, awaiting her response.
