Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Scarletts P.O.V
After your heated argument with Oliver, you avoided going home for a few days. Instead, you've slept
over at Bri's. After a couple days past you find yourself back home, and actively avoiding Oliver.
I really don't need to be bothered by him. He made shit pretty clear, and I'm no longer interested. I'm
not going to play his games.
You head to the kitchen, where your mom is throwing dinner together. She smiles when she sees you,
eyes widening with surprise.
"Missed us, huh?"
Couldn't avoided home forever.
You shrug, and move closer, wrinkling your nose as the aroma of whatever she's cooking wafts towards
you.
"Smells good"
"Oh, it is. I figured I'd make something nice. Oliver's been so sweet to Theresa"
At the mention of Oliver and Theresa you tense up, firming your lips and rolling your eyes
"What, you don't like Theresa?"
Shit, she wasn't supposed to see that
"She's nice"
All I'm saying is, he's not too reliable.
If I've learned anything, he sue as hell isn't. He's one way, and just when you start to change your mind
about him, he switches up.
"Let's just give him the benefit of a doubt. Besides, at least I'm not forcing you to hangout with him.
He's getting out"
She grins at you, and raises her brows excitedly, and you pull your lips into a fake smile, but secretly
you're pissed. Saying you don't have feelings for someone is one thing, but actually getting over
someone emotionally is an entirely different fucking story.
Its not the fact I don't like him... I could care fucking less about that. Its the fact he jumps from one girl
to the next that disgusts me. He can have Theresa. I doubt shell be his last anyways.
"Honestly, I don't care about Oliver's love life"
"Oh really?"
Fuck...
You tense up, your eyes widen as mother firms her lips wont surprise and her eyes widen with alarm.
"She didn't mean that Oliver-"
"Don't speak for me. I did"
Why should I care if he knows I don't give a crap about him. It's actually better if he does. Gives me...
satisfaction
You twist on your heel, eyes meeting his, and you resist sucking back on the deep breath that chokes
you every time you lay eyes on him. You hate hoe taken back you are by hoe gorgeous he is. Attractive
on the outside. Shit underneath. Crossing your arms over your chest, you quirk a brow challengingly at
him.
"Hm, as far as I was concerned my love lifted as top one on your list of priorities"
Oh, he's fucking around... intensionally bringing that shit up in front of my mom now I'm nit swooning
after him.
"Ah, found it all a little boring actually. Besides, I'd have to actually care about you to be invested in
something like that. Oops. Guess I don't"
"Guys, please don't argue... I have to run and use the bathroom, Scar, don't let he sauce burn"
You nod without tearing your intense gaze away from Oliver, listening as your mothers footsteps
disappear into the next room.
"Don't kid yourself, Scar"
Back to calling me that again? He's clinically insane. Clearly.
"Don't call me that"
"But you love it"
"I'm sorry, but don't you have another woman's life to go ruin?"
"Not nearly as fun as ruining yours"
"Clearly"
He takes a step towards you and you shake your head.
"No. You're not gonna pull this teasing shit with me"
He grins deviously, and takes another spot forward. He licks his lips, before biting his bottom lip, and
you groan inwardly.
Why the hell does he keep doing this?
He raises a hand to drag through his hair, causing it to appear disheveled and somehow it makes him
even more attractive. Almost like if you dragged your fingers through it.
"Its not me teasing you, Scarlett. You're just easily provoked. You get yourself worked up"
Is he seriously turning this shit around on me?
"Fuck you, Oliver"
He tilts his head, tapping his chin mock contemplating, before shrugging.
"Temping"
"You're a pig"
"I never claimed to be innocent, baby"
He widens his arms, chuckling
"But I'm one fun hell of a ride"
"Yeah, well I don't want to ride"
He raises his brows, before dragging his eyes down your shirt, lingering on the hardened nipples
poking though the material.
God damn, why do they always do that?
"Oh, I think you want to ride, and baby I'd lay back an let you"
You open your mouth to ask him why the fuck he's acting different, when your mom scurries back into
the room and frowns as her eyes move to the pot you haven't touched.
"Scar! I told you to watch them."
You turn, offering your mom an apologetic look.
"Sorry, I got distracted"
"I hope it wasn't because you were arguing"
"Just the opposite"
I want to hit him
You flip him off behind you. His chuckle fills the room before your mom turns to you.
"Oh, and I've been meaning to ask you what you wanted for your graduation party?"
I completely fucking forgot about that.
You cross your arms over your chest, and sigh hoping Oliver has left the room, but knowing your luck
he's just waiting to stir some shit up again. It's like he lives for that shit.
"Just go me a cake"
You mom sighs
"You need to actually celebrate. It's a big milestone."
You shrug, and glare at Oliver as he stands next to you.
"We have a lake house that we could use"
A lake house???
"Since when have you guys had that?"
Your mom laughs, stirring the sauce before shaking her head.
"No, I'm not about to let a bunch of teenagers party at the lake house"
Oliver casts you an annoyed look, before he sighs.
"No, I'll think of something"
"You do that"
Oliver waits until your mom's back is turned and leans close to you.
"You could always go without permission. Who the hell's gonna know?"
Yes, let me go throw a party this lake house so I can be the one who's arrested when Kirk thinks it's
been fucking broken into. No thanks.
You shake your head.
"Prude"
God, that's like his favourite fucking word
Your phone vibrates and you pull it out of your pocket, checking the screen quick when you see Bri's
name.
Briana: party tonight?
Yeah, because the last one went so well.
Scarlett: I'll be the first to tell you that your stomach can't handle another ranger.
Briana: oh boo you bitch. Don't tell my stomach what to do
"Anything interesting?"
"Nope. Just Bri wanting to make plans tonight."
Your mom mouths an 'oh' and nods.
"Oliver, what time are you meeting Theresa tonight?"
Theresa, Theresa, Theresa... and of course he's fucking meeting her tonight
You stare down at your phone for a moment, before you reply to Bri quickly.
Scarlett: fine. I'm down
Briana: yasssss bitch. Be at my place by nine.
Fuck, how am I going to pull this off. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
"Bri's upset, she got stood up"
"What's going on?"
"Well, she was supposed to go on a date with this guy, and he didn't show up. Completely ghosted her.
She's really upset"
"God, that's awful. Tell her I said sorry, and that one day she'll meet someone who deserves her"
She doesn't even believe that. Not for my entire childhood did she ever believe there's was someone
out there for her, so why she wants me to tell Bri is baffling.
"She really needs me there with her"
"Scarlett, I'm sure she can fend for one night b y herself. Besides, you just got home"
I just love being eighteen and almost graduated, yet still being told what to do... it feels fucking
fantastic.
"Well, actually, maybe it'd be a good idea if Theresa, Bri and Scar hung out tonight to cheer Bri up"
Kill me... no fucking way
You glance at Oliver who shakes his head quick when your mom diverts her gaze for a moment.
What the fuck is he doing?
"I know she just got back but friends are important. Besides, I think Theresa would have a lot of fun,
she's really trying to make more friends"
She better look somewhere else, because she's not gonna find them here.
"I don't know..."
Holy shit... this just might work.
"Yeah, we were gonna go out for a bit and do some bowling, and then we could all go back to Bri's and
watch a couple movies or something"
Your mom narrows her eyes at both of you, and despite your skepticism about Oliver's motives, you
nod slowly and manage to pull your lips into an excited smile.
"I really think that's what Bri needs right now. Friends. Not to be alone. Besides, I'm sure Theresa's
mom would appreciate it"
I'm milking the fuck out of this
"I guess. For tonight. But tomorrow night is you and me and movies in the living room"
You nod, and walk around the island to throw your arms around your mom.
She probably just misses me
"I better go get ready"
You turn and begin walking out towards the foyer, only to feel Oliver hot on your heels. Once you're out
of earshot of your mom, you halt, placing your hands on your hips after you turn to him.
"You know I'm not actually hanging out with you and Theresa tonight right?"
"No shit. I doubt she'd want a third and fourth wheel on our date anyways"
"Oh its a date, huh?"
He crosses his arms over his chest and eyes move to the muscles that contract in them, before you
huff angrily.
"Why? Jealous?"
"You wish"
"I don't have too. You're a terrible liar"
Dickface
You twist on your heels and begin heading down the basement steps, only for him to follow you.
"Just admit it, Scarlett"
You glare at him, stoop over to him and get in his face
"You know, for someone who spewed all this 'I cant do this. I don't want you' bullshit, you have a really
twisted way of showing it. If you say you're done, then you're done, because I'm tired of it"
"Ah, but its so fucking fun"
"You have a problem"
"And you're in denial"
"Guess I'll always be"
You turn and flip him off, but deep down that familiar excited flame you felt the first time he pressed you
up against a wall at the restaurant you met, awakens, and you don't want too stomp it out.
And he's going on a date... I must be more stupid than he is.
