Chapter 38: Seff's Backstory
Chapter 38: Seff's Backstory
~*~*~
*SEFF's POV*
"Seff, Why is it so damn hard to meet you nowadays?" My aunt, Luna Miria of Silverstone sighs at the
sight of me." If the summit didn't happen, how long will you keep ignoring me, huh?"
As i closed the door behind me, she enveloped her arms around me and soothed my back like child,
the warmth and her familiar scent like my mom, made all my nerves calm down.
I frowned. This was the reason I didn't want to see this old woman.
"If I didn't send that friend of yours a message, then you'd probably won't see me, am I right?" She pulls
away, worries plastered on her face.
I cracked a smile, "I'm fine, Aunt Miria. You don't need to check up on me every month. It's tedious, I
don't want to trouble you like that." This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Seff, we talked about this! I made a promise to your mother-"
I cut her off, my chest rising from anger. "That was ages ago, aunt Miria. Can't we all just try to move
on?"
I don't want to remember those times again. I don't hate Aunt Miria. Ever since I lost my parents, she's
been there.. always. But the fact that she's always there, also made me anxious at the same time.
Why? She resembled my mom a bit too well.
Looking away, I placed a palm on my forehead in frustration. "Look, I just came here to tell you that I'm
fine. You don't need to worry. So please stop calling me, and let's all just mind our business, okay?"
With a trembling hand, she reached to the side of my face and sobbed, her frail legs bent as she held
sadness within her. I cursed under my breath. She'd always do this whenever I pushed her away.
"Aunt Miria... I'm fine, please don't act like this. I'm not a kid anymore, I can handle myself."
"No... you're still that boy." She coughs heavily between her cries, "How can you tell me to leave you
alone? If I'm gone, who will take care of you? Your friend will meet his mate soon. Everyone in your age
does."
I slowly removed her hands, and once again, I felt devastated as the realization sank to me that i'd
never be able to meet my mate in this lifetime.
All because of the stupid wish that my dad made years ago.
"I don't need a mate." I chuckled bitterly.
I've seen clearly how not everyone gets a happy ending when they find their mates. The stupid
connection between my mom and dad proves it. As I've done everytime, i was able to calm myself and
smiled at her.
"You know me, I don't like it when people plan for me, not the Moon Goddess or you. So.. please live
well. I'll live the life I want, don't worry about me. I promise you, I'll find someone to settle down with. Do
send my regards to my uncle and niece."

P A S T -
{"Baby, can you please go to your room? Daddy and I have to talk.'} My mom says, her voice shaking.
With blood pouring to the side of her face, I noticed broken shards everywhere...and how my dad held
the broken half of the bottle in his hand.
He grabs another bottle on the table and drinks it in one go. He was red everywhere, his eyes, face,
and even red liquid on his shirt- that somehow resembled the liquid that was on mom's face.
Is that.. blood?
{"But.. I've stayed all day in my room already. You said i could play here at 7."}
{"I know i know... and mommy's sorry for that."} She cries. {"Baby listen to me, go to your room and
lock the door okay? Just like we always do."
I shook my head in disagreement.
I didn't understand, and my heart felt heavy. The sight that my mom was crying in front of me, was all
too much for me. Hesitant, I hugged her tightly and cried too. {"Mommy, I don't wanna go to my room.
Is dad going to hurt you again?"}
{"Shut up! Who's making that damn annoying noise?!"} My dad growls, throwing the bottle at us.
Mom quickly responded and moved me away. Her heart paced and tightly secured me in her arms.
{"Are you okay?"} She asks, barely whispering.
As I looked down to her side, my eyes widened in shock. A huge shard of glass pierced through her
body.
{"M..Mom! You're bleeding in your belly!"}
{"It's fine... it'll heal soon. Go now Seff, if you can. Pack some clothes in your bag and go over to your
aunt for now okay? I'll clean up here first."} She shrugs me off, pressing on her wound as she flinches
in pain. The scent of blood thickened in our house. There was nothing mixed in. It was all my mom's
blood.
I stood confused.
How can he hurt her like this? I thought...hey loved each other? So why? Why does my mom keep
bleeding?
I cried hard. My small and fragile arms wrap around her neck in a hurry. I shook my head continuously,
{"Mom.. I won't leave without you!"}
{"I said shut the f*ck up!"} Dad yanks her hair hard from behind as he drags him to a corner. I tried to
stop him by begging him, pleading him to let his mate go. But he ignored me and kicked me aside.
I groaned, the pain around my stomach worsening when I tried to move.
{"My baby!"} She gasps as she sees me on the ground. "-HOW DARE YOU! YOU PROMISED YOU
WON'T HURT HIM!"}
My mom shrieks in anger, her cries becoming more violent as she struggles to get away from dad's
grip. Everything became blurry, I couldn't see what was happening clearly. As I continuedly forced
myself to stay awake.
My heart tightened when I saw my mom's injured body being tortured by my dad even further. The thick
smell of blood lingered around me, and it almost made me throw up.
{"Bitch say that again,"} He cups her face into his.
{"How could you?"} She asks, tears streaming down her cheeks. {"How long will you hate me for
wishing you to stay alive?"}
{"That's your mistake. If you had just let me die with my family back then, you wouldn't have to be with
a monster... right?"}
{"We're mates. How can I bear to see you die?"}
{"Well, I can."}
Grabbing the longest shard he could find, he then pierced it down her throat. I screamed and screamed
as I watched him mangle her alive. The despair ran through my veins, and with that tiny strength of
mine left, I used it to rush to him and wrap my small body to his arm.
{"Stop! Dad! Don't kill mom!"}
{"Get off!"} He kicks me away again, this time.. even harder. My body flew to the opposite corner. He
whines, {"Where the fuck did this bitch hid the alcohol again?"}
Does he even know what he did to mom? I thought angrily. As I saw white dots forming in my vision. I
turned to look at my injured mom, and our eyes locked with each other.
{"I'm sorry.."} She bitterly smiles.
Why? Why is mom sorry?
At that time, I didn't even know that it was the last time I would see life in her eyes. As I crawled to her
spot, my world crumbled when I realized that her heartbeat that I'd always loved hearing was gone.
{"M..Mom! No!!"}
