Chapter 40: Bandages

Chapter 40: (Xavier's POV)- Bandages

"You should've been more careful, Aubrey. It's glass what were you thinking?" I asked in frustration as I

rinsed her hand under the water.

"I said I'm sorry." she groaned as I grabbed the first aid kit. She hoisted herself up on the counter while

I stood between her legs, pouring some antiseptic on a cotton pad. "No, don't use that! It'll sting, please

we just rinsed it," she whined trying to pull her hand away from me.

"Aubrey, you won't even feel it, I promise." I looked her dead in the eyes. She will feel it a little but it has

to be cleaned properly.

"You're lying. It always stings, it has to sting there's no way it won't because I've done it before and-

ow!" she hissed as I pressed the cotton pad on the cut lightly.

"Don't pay attention to it. Keep talking to me." I grabbed her chin, making her look at me, diverting her

attention from the cut. "You were saying," I prompted.

"I was saying that I've done it to people before and I've had it done before and I know that it stings so

please don't do it but that's no use now since you already did." she huffed.

"It didn't hurt that bad, come on, don't be a baby," I said to keep her talking so I could bandage the

wound.

"Don't be a baby? Are you kidding me? You try having it burn so-" I cut her off.

"All done. See, you barely felt it. Just the first touch." I shrugged before throwing the cotton pad away

and putting the first aid kit away. "It should be fine in a couple of days," I informed her while helping her

get down since she couldn't place both palms on the counter. She looked at me suspiciously.

"I'm hoping you knew how to deal with that because your mom's a nurse." she narrowed her eyes,

making me laugh.

"That's right. I don't get in that kind of trouble." I shook my head before we stared down at the glass still

on the floor. "I'll clean it," I announced before grabbing a broom from the closet behind the stairs and

scooping up the glass, throwing it in the trash.

"If you used this you wouldn't end up in bandages." I gave her a pointed look while placing the broom

back.

"If you didn't startle me, I wouldn't end up in bandages." she lied. I did not startle her, I couldn't have. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Sure love, whatever floats your boat." I laughed before turning back to her to see her staring at her

bandage.

"I-I'm sorry." she stuttered. "You had to clean it," she added awkwardly.

"That's not what you should be sorry for. Apologize for hurting yourself." I folded my arms across my

chest, leaning on the closet. She opened her mouth to argue but stopped when I gave her the look.

"I'm sorry for hurting myself." she paused. "Why does it bother you though? I don't get it?" her

eyebrows knitted together, morphing her adorable confused look.

"It hurts me to see you hurt. So you're apologizing for the hurt I feel. Okay?" I arched an eyebrow at her

while she nodded, hiding a blush.

"Uh-huh. Okay," she spoke in confusion before looking at the couch. "We should let them sleep." she

spoke quietly while looking at Violet and Ace that cuddled together on the couch.

"You just cut your hand and- you know what, never mind. Yeah, let's them sleep. Let's go." I picked her

up, bridal style, and carried her up to the room. She didn't protest, just blushed quietly.

I took her up to the guest room and lay her down on the bed. "I could've walked myself but thanks." she

shyly brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

"Do you want me to stay?" I asked while placing the blanket up to her waist before sighing and looking

down at her.

"Do you want to stay? I mean you don't have to, I won't make you but-" she trailed off.

"Aubrey," I sighed,

"Please don't act like this, I don't like you being so awkward and distant. As adorable as it is, I need the

flirty, teasing, taunting version of you back." I sat on the edge of the bed by her legs.

"I thought you didn't like being teased?" she smirked. And she's back, ladies and gentlemen.

"Hmm, somehow I love it when you do it. Don't I?" I tilted my head to the side.

"You're lucky I love doing it, and I don't get bothered when you do it." she smiled at me sarcastically.

"Is that so? You don't get bothered now, do you?" I smirked while making my way beside her, scooting

closer and resting my head on her shoulder.

"Try me if you want, Parker." she arched an eyebrow at me. I chuckled while shaking my head before

placing a kiss on her bare shoulder since she was wearing a cami. She shifted a little in her seat before

clearing her throat.

"I didn't mean it literally," she whispered under her breath, making me smile.

"I thought you don't get bothered?" I feigned confusion, only triggering her more. It's so amusing.

"Don't actually freaking try me, Parker. I dared you but don't be literal." she huffed at me, making me

laugh.

"You need sleep but answer me, should I stay?" I asked her again.

"Answer me, do you want to?" her eyebrow twitched up. I gave her a pointed look after which she

sighed and finally answered me. "I don't mind if you stay." She still isn't giving a straight answer, is she?

"Then I hope you don't mind if I don't either." I began getting up but she spoke up.

"Wait, wait, wait! Just stay, please? Please, I'm sorry." she slightly chuckled, quickly blurting her words

out.

"Please stay?" she asked while biting back a smile and blushing shyly. I grinned before lying in bed

beside her. "Parker, I need you to do me a favor," she spoke after a while as she rested her head on

my chest.

"What would you like me to do?" I asked as I helped her sit up and looked at her expectantly.

"Will you braid my hair for me?" she asked while looking at me hopefully. I looked at her in utter

confusion, completely clueless. Will I what now? "I want it braided and because of my hand, I can't do it

myself. It doesn't let my hair get tangled overnight, please could you braid it for me? Parker, please?

Pretty please?" she pouted.

I blinked slowly. "Aubrey, I have absolutely no idea how to braid hair how will I- what?" I spoke, still very

confused.

"Watch a tutorial." she shrugged before handing my phone to me. "Please?" she pleaded. I sighed in

defeat before unlocking my phone and pulling up a video that taught how to braid. What the hell am I

doing? After rewatching the video thrice, I was sure I got it and sighed.

"Okay, I think I got it. Sit in front of me will you?" I sat up straighter while she scooted until she was

seated in front of me. She flipped her hair over her shoulders, handing it all to me. "Alright, one two,

and three sections. Then you take this one and..." I trailed off mumbling in my breath repeating the

instructions in my head.

"And put it over, then the one underneath becomes..." I continued mumbling under my breath, making

her laugh at me now and then. I finished the ends of her hair before she handed me the hair tie off of

her wrist. I actually knew how to tie a hair tie so I didn't struggle with that and swiftly tied her braid.

"All done?" I said but it came out as a question. She laughed before leaning forward until she could see

herself in the mirror and smiled before looking back at me, grinning.

"It's actually really good. Perfect." she laughed before lying down and letting out a sigh. I lied down

beside her before lifting her left hand, playing with her fingers subconsciously.

"You seriously were so stupid with the glass." I chuckled while shaking my head. It wasn't funny and I

wasn't chuckling because it was, but the fact that she's not the slightest bit bothered by it genuinely

surprises me.

"I had no clue." she deadpanned.

"Why weren't you paying attention to it while handling it?" I questioned, realizing I didn't know why she

wasn't watching herself while she grabbed the shards of glass.

She cleared her throat. "I uh- I got distracted," she spoke vaguely. Was she in deep thought about

something? "I heard your voice and uh- looked up and then ended up in bandages." she smiled.
