Chapter 316 Resolving the Misunderstanding
Daniel saw this and smiled at Veda, encouraging her, "Yes, this is the Veda I know." "Thank you, Mr. Wilson." Veda finally showed a slight smile, a long-lost warmth.
She stopped calling him Daniel, realizing more and more that their relationship would go no further.
They were friends, and could never be anything more.
And at this moment, Daniel realized something too.
Ever since he found Veda, he hadn't had the chance to explain everything clearly
because of Emily and Michael's presence.
Daniel felt it was a good opportunity now.
"Veda." Daniel suddenly became serious.
Veda turned her head, seeing the look on Daniel's face, she knew he had something to say.
The atmosphere between them became awkward.
Fortunately, Daniel spoke first, knowing he had to take the first step as a man.
"Emily doesn't like me." To save time, Daniel spoke directly.
Veda was stunned for a moment and instinctively responded. "I know."
Daniel nodded.
A hint of disappointment flashed across his face, and Veda immediately realized something, quickly correcting herself, "I didn't mean it that way. I..."
Veda couldn't explain herself, which amused Daniel a bit.
He had always seen Veda as a little sister, and seeing her like this, he found her somewhat endearing.
Despite this, Daniel decided to clarify his feelings, not wanting Veda to misunderstand. "It's okay, it's well-known that Emily doesn't like me, there's nothing to be embarrassed about.
"She never liked me. Maybe you misunderstood before because I didn't explain clearly, but Veda, I can honestly tell you that she has rejected me many times and has never accepted.
"I know you've seen it too. After all, I've pursued her for so long, but in her heart... there's only your brother."noveldrama
At first, Veda was touched, but hearing the last sentence, she frowned, doubting Daniel's judgment.
"Michael? Impossible!" Veda shook her head repeatedly. Over the past few days, Michael's feelings for Emily had indeed grown, but Emily... it was clear she was just being polite to Michael.
Veda thought Michael was chasing after Emily, but it was a hopeless endeavor.
"He likes Emily unilaterally, but Emily..." Veda hesitated, shaking her head at Daniel.
But Daniel thought Veda was still too naive, like a child.
How could she understand their complicated love?
Sometimes love isn't always obvious. Only he knew why Emily repeatedly rejected him
and why she always stayed close to Michael and the Smith family.
"No matter what Emily's attitude towards Michael is, the point is, we can't be together." Daniel's voice lowered, his expression turning momentarily sad, a bitter smile appearing on his lips, looking defeated.
Veda knew he genuinely liked Emily, always had.

But unfortunately, it was unrequited.
"Actually, I've always seen you as a little sister. Veda, I think you hold the same place in my heart as you do in Michael's.
"I hope I can be a good brother to you, a strong support, and I hope you have a happier life." Daniel was serious, hoping Veda could understand his position.
Veda felt a mix of emotions. Although she had sensed Daniel's feelings, hearing him say it still made her feel a bit lost.
Her eyelids trembled slightly, and she thought for a while before her face showed determination.
Veda knew that at this moment, she had to stay calm. "I understand."
Veda tried to stay calm, not wanting Daniel to see her vulnerability."I understand your feelings for me. After all this time, I know I should let go."
After saying this, Veda forced a smile, biting her lip.
She knew she had to face this moment, not blaming Emily or anyone else.
But now, Veda suddenly remembered something Emily had said to her.
When Scarlett asked Veda to give up her MBA course and get married, Emily just said a few words: "Veda, your life is your own. You have to live it for yourself."
'Yes, life is my own,' Veda thought, 'I should fight for myself.'
"But, Mr. Wilson, have you ever thought that maybe we could try to understand each other more?" Veda suddenly spoke.
Her words surprised Daniel, he didn't expect Veda to suggest this.
"I..." Daniel hesitated, not knowing how to respond.
Although he always saw Veda as a sister, he couldn't deny that her suggestion stirred something in him.
It wasn't love, nor was it the infatuation he had for Emily.
Daniel could distinguish the difference. He was shocked to realize that after being rejected, Veda didn't cry or make a fuss, but fought for herself.
Daniel suddenly saw a stubbornness in Veda, similar to Emily.
"We can take it slow, you don't have to answer me right away.
"At least, we can start as friends. Don't worry, I'm not as foolish as before, I won't cling to you. After going back, I want to continue my MBA course and help Michael with the company. As for my mom..."
At this point, Veda lowered her head, a long sigh escaping her, feeling the helplessness and frustration of her family.
She went on, "I will refuse her. I don't want to marry someone I don't love, or a so- called capitalist. I think I can be a capitalist myself, and I hope you can give me a chance, give us a chance.
"I won't cling to you, and I hope fate will bring us together again if it's meant to be."
Veda's voice was gentle yet firm. Daniel took a deep breath, looking at Veda, a complex emotion in his eyes.
He was truly surprised by how much Veda had changed in just a few days.
She even reminded him of the old Emily.
But Daniel knew there were no two identical personalities in the world. He had to reassess his relationship with Veda and slowly let go of someone who never belonged to him.
"Alright, Veda, I agree. Let's see where fate takes us."
What do you think?
