Chapter 434 The Union of Villains
"Man, this oatmeal is killer, Emily! And Daniel, those empanadas are out of this world! I'm stuffed!
"Alright, alright, I gotta jet. Got an interview to catch! Emily, Daniel, take your time and enjoy!"
With that, Abigail dashed out of sight.
The restaurant fell silent.
Emily kept her head down, sipping her oatmeal. Daniel glanced at her, took another bite of his empanada, and couldn't help but ask, "Emily, you okay?"
Emily looked up at his words, her face still showing traces of her earlier emotions. She wasn't exactly downcast, but she clearly wasn't happy either.
Not wanting to ignore Daniel's concern, she gave a half-hearted response, "I'm fine."
That didn't look like "fine" to Daniel.
He had seen Emily and Michael's relationship evolve over time. He knew that every word and action from Michael had a significant impact on Emily, which indirectly affected the baby she was carrying.noveldrama
Thinking about this made Daniel's blood boil. Michael had repeatedly assured him that he would take good care of Emily. Was this his idea of taking care of her?
"Emily, I think you should move out of Abigail's place."
Seeing Emily's confused look, Daniel decided to be more direct. "What I mean is, you should make sure Michael can't find you. His constant visits are not good for you. Your main priority now is to rest and ensure the baby is born healthy."
Daniel paused, then added, "Am I talking too much?"
Emily smiled faintly. "No."
She put down her spoon and nodded seriously, looking at Daniel with a gentle expression. "Daniel, I understand what you're saying.
"I'm staying at Abigail's because I need the company. Living alone would be less safe. I have to deal with not just the Smith family and the Ward family, but also an old acquaintance."
Daniel noticed Emily's expression turn serious and immediately became more alert. "An old acquaintance?"
Emily smiled but didn't elaborate. However, in her mind, she pictured Sophia.
Emily knew that Evelyn was in a mental hospital, Hayden was missing, and Sophia had supposedly gone abroad. But Sophia had secretly returned when Michael was hospitalized.
After Isabella's death, Emily was busy with the funeral and her divorce from Michael. Her mind was a mess, and she had no time to think about Sophia.
But now, Emily was slowly realizing she was still caught in the whirlwind of Emerald City. Both the Smith family and the Ward family were eager to oppose her.
At such a critical moment, how could Sophia, who resented her so much, not make a move? Or was she hiding in the shadows, waiting to strike when Emily was most vulnerable?
Emily wouldn't give Sophia that chance. She would prepare herself and see if Sophia would back off or resort to even more ruthless tactics.
Meanwhile, Sophia sneezed twice.
The sneezes woke up Dean, who groggily opened his eyes. Seeing Sophia beside him, he got up with a look of disdain, grabbed his clothes, and got out of bed.
"Why are you in my bed again? And don't sneeze here. It's gross."
Dean had recently been sneaking out of his house to stay alone in a hotel. He had given Sophia a key card because she would occasionally come over to clean and bring him food.
With such a convenient free maid, why not use her?
Sophia was completely naked, but Dean didn't even glance at her. Frustrated, Sophia got up, grabbed her clothes, and covered herself. She suppressed her anger and spoke gently to Dean.
"Maybe I caught a cold... Besides, I'm tired. I cleaned your bathroom all day today! I'm exhausted!"
Dean took a soda from the fridge, not bothering to offer one to Sophia. He drank it, then squinted at her.

"I didn't ask you to come. The hotel has cleaning services. You brought this on yourself." Dean sat on the couch, entertaining himself with his phone.
Sophia had never been treated so coldly. She had once made Michael lose his mind over her, and he had treated her like a queen. Now, with Dean, she felt worthless.
Sophia was furious, but she needed Dean to climb back up. So, she swallowed her pride.
She put on her clothes, tied her hair back, and lit a cigarette. Leaning against the nightstand, she spoke seriously to Dean. "Dean, you know I need your help." Dean chuckled and replied, "Yeah, I know."
Sophia's anger grew at his indifferent tone. She stubbed out her cigarette and asked through gritted teeth, "When will the studio be ready? You don't want me hanging around, right? Once the studio is up and running, I'll be out of your hair and focused on the business!"
Sophia didn't even believe her own words. Running the studio was important, but she lacked the skills. Her jewelry design abilities were far inferior to Emily's.
Given her current situation, securing Dean was her best bet. But Dean was lazy and uninterested in women. No matter how many times she tried to seduce him, he remained indifferent, even repulsed.
This was a huge insult to Sophia.
Seeing her anger, Dean turned to her, sighed, and said nothing. He picked up his phone and quickly dialed a number.
What do you think?
