Chapter 41: Mother Injured
“Who the hell do you think you are! Do you know why I asked for you today? I tell you, I will not spare your daughter, and as much as I hurt today, I will make your daughter Octavia Gills pay me back twice as much hurt in the future!”
“Princess, listen to me, my daughter Octavia Gills has promised me that she will leave the president of that Group Davi, as soon as her brother is done with his operation, my daughter will go out of the country! Please believe me, Princess, that my daughter and I have not revealed anything to anyone. Please also rest assured, Princess, that I will…”
“Bullshit! Do you have any idea how clever your daughter is, not only did she manage to sleep in Tredan Davi’s bed, but she is also living in the Davi Family mansion, that’s very sinister, Elda, don’t you think so?” Elda was not too emotional because she believed in her daughter!
“You’ve taught your daughter well, great job! First class! That bitch managed to get Tredan to break my engagement to him.” Lilian Drye went berserk at this, grabbing Elda by the shoulders and yelling, “Do you know that your damned daughter has ruined my happiness? She has shamelessly stolen my man, ahh…” What little sense Lilian Drye had left began to drown, and Lilian Drye shook Elda’s body with all his strength, her anger exploding at Elda and throwing her to the ground. She fell toward the coffee table and cut her palm on the edge of the broken glass to keep her balance. The red blood flowed instantly and Elda felt the pain in her palm.
Eldwin, who had been worried about Elda, heard her cries of pain coming from Lilian Drye’s room and rushed upstairs. He ran into Lilian Drye’s room and held Elda in his arms, not caring about what his position was, what he should do, or whether it was appropriate.
“Are you okay? How did you hurt your hand? Let me take you to the hospital right away to get it bandaged!” As Eldwin picked up Elda without consulting Lilian Drye and prepared to go out the door, Lilian Drye laughed sarcastically and said to them, “Elda, you two are something, just picking Eldwin to work for you! And you, Eldwin, you’re not paid to be a hero. I don’t keep lowlifes in the Drye Family, Elda, please pack up and get the hell out of the Drye Family by ten o’clock this evening.”
“Princess, you’ve gone too far!” Eldwin has never judged any situation and never got into a verbal argument with anyone in the Drye Family. This time he was really angry. Ready to step forward and argue the merits of Elda to Lilian Drye! Only to be stopped by the pale-faced Elda.
“Princess, I have always been grateful for the kindness of the Drye Family by taking me in, and today, my daughter has indeed done something wrong, but please believe that we have followed every clause written in that agreement.” The pain Elda felt in her hand was becoming unbearable, but she couldn’t do anything.
“Get out, please get out! Don’t ever show up in my house again!!!”
Eldwin was so distressed that he ignored Lilian Drye, who seemed to have lost her mind. He then carried Elda downstairs without looking back, simply wrapping Elda’s hand first with gauze and telling Elda not to say anything.
“Elda, it’s better if you don’t work here, for now, I’ll support you from now on!”
Elda didn’t have time to react, only to know that her heart was sincerely touched by Eldwin!
“My mum’s calling me; I’m going out to answer it! You guys eat first!” Octavia Gills took her phone and went out.
Octavia Gills answered and it wasn’t her mother’s voice on the other end, it was Eldwin!
“Octavia, come over here quickly, your mother was kicked out of the Drye Family by Ms. Lilian! And her hand is hurt, I’m taking your mother to the hospital now to get it treated but I have to go back to the Drye Family later!”
“Which hospital? Yes, yes! I’ll be right over, Eldwin, thank you!”
Octavia Gills went back to tell Domino about what happened and left. Domino wanted to go with Octavia Gills, but she refused and told them not to waste such good food, even telling Domino to eat her share!
Octavia Gills, who had hailed a taxi to get to the hospital, was puzzled as to why Lilian Drye was kicking her mother out of the Drye Family – was it because of her affair with Tredan Davi? She had already promised her mother that she would return to Japan when her brother got better, so what was Lilian Drye doing this for?
“Mum, Mum, how’s your hand? What the hell happened? You tell me?” Octavia Gills looked at her mother whose face was particularly pale and looked like she was scared out of her wits.
“Octavia, you’re here, don’t worry, I’m fine!” Octavia Gills rushed forward to take a closer look at her mother’s hand, which was wrapped in layers of white gauze. “Eldwin, go back to work, it’s only a minor injury, Octavia is here, don’t worry! I’m so sorry for troubling you this time!”
“Why are you being so polite? Well?? I’ll go back and take care of some things first!”
“Octavia, see Eldwin off for mum!” Elda would have gotten up to see him off but she was still hooked up to an IV!
Seeing Eldwin to the door, Octavia Gills asked him what was going on.
“I don’t really know the details, but when Ms. Lilian returned to the Drye Family today, she told me to ask your mother to come to her room, but she hadn’t been there for long before I heard the sound of things being dropped and Ms. Lilian yelling. I barged into the room and wanted to find out what was going on, but to my surprise, I saw that your mother’s hand was injured! It was unclear, but I heard that it had something to do with Ms. Lilian’s boyfriend.”
“Octavia, your mother has been working hard lately, so it will be good for her not to work there anymore. She can rest for a while and ask me if she needs money. And if your mum needs anything, remember to call me!” Octavia Gills was so relieved to see someone who cared so much about her mum, after all these years with her dad gone, her mum hadn’t had the life she wanted for her mum and brother.
“I know, Eldwin, thank you! I have been without a father since I was a little girl, so thank you Eldwin for being a father to me and treating me and my brother like our own children. In my heart, Eldwin, I have considered you as a real father to me!” When she was teased about being a fatherless child, Eldwin held an umbrella for her and acted as a father, telling her that although her father could not be there for her like he used to, his soul became a star when he died and her father watches over them every day. She must stay strong so that her dad will rest in peace! Because of these words from Eldwin, she had the strength to hold on!
“Silly child, always so sentimental, go back and look after your mother! I’m going back and will see you some other time!” Eldwin gave her a hug like a father would and stroked her head. “Let it be, my child, whatever it is in your heart! What’s yours will be yours in the end, make sure you let yourself go and face life, okay? Okay, no need to send me off!”
“Well, I know, Eldwin!” said Octavia Gills, feeling lucky after all, and thankful to God for bringing these warm people around her, be it Eldwin or Domino, and many more!
“Mum, what’s going on and why is Lilian Drye doing this?” Octavia Gills sat next to Elda, peeling her apple as she questioned her closely. She had to know why? Whatever Lilian Drye’s reasons were, she wouldn’t allow anyone to bully her mother about it.
“Octavia, mum is asking you and you need to answer honestly! Have you done anything to spoil Ms. Lilian’s marriage to the president of Group Davi!” She was worried about Octavia Gills getting involved in this mess, both Tredan Davi and Lilian Drye were too much for them to mess with and that world of theirs was not for her mother and daughter to cross.
“Mum, please, believe me, I haven’t done anything! Isn’t Lilian Drye and Tredan Davi about to get engaged? I’m happy for them both! Mum, you haven’t told me why Ms. Lilian asked for you today?”
Elda truthfully told Octavia Gills about what happened.
“Today, Ms. Lilian was going to Group Davi for a press conference to announce their engagement, then for some reason, Ms. Lilian left before getting to the hotel, I heard that even Tredan Davi didn’t show up. I don’t know what happened in between, but the princess came back and came straight at me saying that you stole her man, that the engagement had been broken off, and that you were to blame for all this. Ms. Lilian spoke harshly and was very fearful. ”
“I’m sorry, Mom! I am ungrateful for putting you through this!” Octavia Gills was angry and tormented inside, how could Lilian Drye do this to her mother, how could she take that anger out on her mother on what should have been hers to bear.
It didn’t matter what Lilian Drye did, but she couldn’t watch her mother suffer.
Elda wanted to go back to the Drye Family to pack after her belongings, but Octavia Gills insisted that her mother go home and rest. After taking her mother back to her flat and making her bed, Octavia Gills left gently with a note asking Elda to wait for her at home while she went to the Drye Family to pick up her clothes and other belongings.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Octavia Gills arrived at the Drye Family’s maid’s room, not realizing that Eldwin had packed up some simple things for her mother early in the morning, leaving only Elda’s clothes unpacked. When she saw Octavia Gills coming, he settled Elda’s wages and injury bills for the day and handed over a bank book with Eldwin’s name on it to Octavia Gills.
Eldwin said meaningfully to Octavia Gills, “Give this to your mum, it’s my spare money, tell your mum not to work for anyone else, don’t bother at her age, and take this money and open a bakery, I’ve had your mum’s buns and dumplings and they are delicious, so your mum’s good work won’t go to waste. That way, your mother’s good workmanship won’t go to waste.”
Octavia Gills didn’t expect Eldwin to care so much about her mum after what happened today and Octavia Gills was moved to tears!
“Eldwin, keep this bank book. As my mother’s daughter, I am supposed to take care of all this for her, Eldwin you have taken care of my mother so much, I don’t even know how to thank you! How can I still take your money!”
